A list of puns related to "New Musicology"
Hey guys, I'm composer on my way to postgraduate study at the Royal Academy of Music this fall. Here is a blog on contemporary music and musicology that I've been doing up during the COVID lockdown.
Today's post questions the modernist ideal of unity, and whether compositional practice should employ musical structures that can only be observed from the score while failing to register in the listener's ears.

Hello everyone!
Musicology is about creating your own band and becoming as popular as possible. This started as a project to learn TypeScript, but I like where it's going so I'm showing it off here. It's pretty unique I think in that it has no resources you have to collect, just different ways of gaining more fans. It's a pretty early build so the balance is still being worked on.
It's only designed for desktop right now. No guarantees that things will work on anything else. I might write an app version for mobile if there's enough interest.
I look forward to all of your feedback! I want to know especially if you encounter bugs, because I can't test on every browser and system there is.

EDIT: Wrote a quick update. The fretboard has been fixed. Upgrades are now automatic after lvl 1, and you can now pause the minigame by pressing P.
EDIT 2: Fixed keyboard input on older browsers, and removed ability to click on invisible records!
EDIT 3: Thanks everyone for your feedback! I'll keep working on it and I'll post an update relatively soon.
Hi folks,
I started a musicology Vlog!
I'm a working operatic tenor, but I always loved musicology in my classes. I'm no expert, but I do like thinking in musicology terms, and I thought an ELI5 style format targeting student, amateur or non musicians would be fun and something I could speak to with a little confidence. I also like sci-fi and action films and all that, and since film and video games are some of the last places that maintain mass-appeal interest in classical music/classical orchestra, it might be a good subject to talk about in a Vlog. So I'm trying it out, and I would be extremely glad to have the feedback of some other people, like yourselves. Trying to strike that balance of maintaining interest and writing a new dissertation on John Williams every time I make a video lol.
Here are a couple early products, and I would love any reactions, or if you would share with people as I'm getting underway with the project, that'd help so much!

Doing a lot of between gig driving these days and I have burned through countless "This American Life" episodes and "Radio Labs." I was wondering if any of you knew of some good music pod casts.
How is everyone? I give thanks to shostyscholar for allowing me to take the reigns of r/musicology! I currently am the head of /r/earlymusicalnotation and I hope anyone with a passion for music will subscribe to either communities!
A breakdown of r/musicology...."Focusing on Historical Musicology, this is a community coming together to share scholarly research about music and its origins. Open discussion of music philosophy, theoretical sociology, aesthetics of music, cultural and gender studies, performance, literature, theatre, theory, analysis, and theology. Understanding is the goal of this community and civil discourse the standard method of communication. We welcome anyone with a burning desire for discovery and a thirst for knowledge."
And r/earlymusicalnotation.... "A forum for those who love early music. A place to find works in their original notation and open discussion of Neumes, Masses, Ficta, Motets, Clausulae, Formes Fixes, Discant, Medieval & Renaissance polyphony, Modes, Hymns, Ars Nova, Magnus Libre Organi, and whatever else comes to the table."
We hope anyone with interest in ancient music and music performance will join us!
Edit: Added links
How is everyone? I thank shostyscholar for allowing me to help with sprucing up this community and making it into something great! To begin with, I am a music historian but also a Drum & Bass dj (16 years) and singer. I am also the head of the Early Musical Notation community (r/earlymusicalnotation) which has been growing steadily over the last 4 months. Please feel free to ask me anything and please give me any recommendations as to what you'd like to see more of in the way of content!
Hello Reddit! My name is Daniela Schmidt-Langels and I have been a freelance journalist and documentary filmmaker since 1991 for French and German broadcasters such as ARTE, ZDF, WDR, 3sat, RBB and KiKa, as well as German radio. I studied Musicology, Spanish and History in Cologne and Berlin, where I currently live.
I have received many awards for my work, including Best Documentary at the White Rocks Film Festival 2019 with โIn Pursuit of the Impossible: Chef Mirga Graลพinytฤ-Tyla" and the Best Documentary Music Award for "Meret Oppenheim or Feminine Surrealismโ at the Munich Documentary Film Festival in 2014.
My latest documentary on living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is an investigation into myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) and has had more than 1.5 million views across ARTE.tvโs YouTube channels. The documentary follows Ralf, Aileen and Sonja, all sufferers of ME/CFS, during their appointments with researchers and everyday lives in order to better understand this disease which affects millions of people and for which there is no cure.
As a filmmaker, directing a scientific documentary about a medical topic that is so complex was completely new territory. My hope is that this film will wake up policy-makers so that sufficient funds will finally be made available for interdisciplinary research on a large scale.
Have you seen the documentary and want to discuss it with me? Do you perhaps want to share your own story? Or do you have any questions about my working as a documentary filmmaker? If so, AMA!
The documentary is available until July 10, 2022 here: On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poNH6YNIYtI On ARTE.tv: https://www.arte.tv/en/videos/096283-000-A/living-with-chronic-fatigue-syndrome/
FYI for French or German speakers, we are also running this AMA in parallel with r/France and r/de_IAmA

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
The doctor says it terminal.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
The nurse asked the rabbit, โwhat is your blood type?โ
โI am probably a type Oโ said the rabbit.
How the hell am I suppose to know when itโs raining in Sweden?
Mathematical puns makes me number
We told her she can lean on us for support. Although, we are going to have to change her driver's license, her height is going down by a foot. I don't want to go too far out on a limb here but it better not be a hack job.
Ants donโt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
They were cooked in Greece.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.

Now that I listen to albums, I hardly ever leave the house.
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies ๐
It really does, I swear!
