A list of puns related to "Nasal Septum"
i was just diagnosed with chondrosarcoma, which is already rare, but i have it in my nose which is even rarer. i have surgery scheduled this wednesday for removal and i feel lucky thatβs usually all the treatment needed for this but iβm so scared. iβm anxious all day every day but i also feel like a fraud because i more than likely wonβt need any other treatment (radiation, chemo), these types donβt usually tend to spread, and my chances of regrowth are low so far. all pretty positive things. everything just feels so weird and i donβt even feel like this is really happening. i donβt really know why iβm posting but i guess it does help to just get my thoughts out.
Hey guys,
I just went to the ENT this week and found out I need to have nasal polyps removed, a turbinate reduction, and my deviated septum fixed. I go in for a CT scan in two weeks and at that point my surgery will be scheduled. Has anyone had these three procedures done at once, and what was the recovery time like? I have been beyond miserable for years and am looking forward to this surgery, even though I know the polyps are prone to come back. I am on prednisone (40mg daily for 5 days) which has given me some temporary relief.
For some background - I'm a 25 year old female. I haven't been able to smell in years and am usually severely congested/completely impacted. Afrin has been my best friend for 2ish years (which I know is not good but it's the only thing that has given me some relief). I was diagnosed with asthma about a year before i started experiencing the severe congestion. Before the asthma, I was diagnosed with TMJ. The ENT i just met with seems to think these are all related.
Curious to hear any shared experiences - especially if anyone else has had similar sinus problems and TMJ.
My girlfriend is starting to see red chunks coming out of her nose when she picks her nose lately. It is all crusty inside of it. She has been using decongestant nasal sprays daily past 3 months, with a 1 month break before that and pretty much takes them past 10 years with small breaks in between. Is there a possibility of getting a perforated septum from this or is it just something else?
I'm now contemplating getting a septoplasty to help with my sleep apnea diagnosed 6 months ago. Any has seen their quality of sleep improve after a septoplasty?
I have tmj but I have dev septum, upper airway resistance dx per my TMJ dentist and I've been getting this increased nasal congestion/discomfort and tingling around palate/mouth and dryness and some palpitations feeling. I don't feel gasping or shortness of breath just congestion in my nostrils. I do feel palpitations and an elevated HR at times. And I feel brain fog. Sometimes I feel bloated. I've tried Flonase in the past for sinus issues but it made me feel jittry, palpitations/tachycardia and stopped it
I have long possessed restricted air flow in my nose. I have lived with it for all 3 decades of my life.
Until my wife convinced me to go get treated for it. The ent agreed that I was a good candidate for it. Everything that can go wrong to impede nasal airflow I had. Nothing else worked.
So I got the surgery.
Holy shit, I am in agony. The last 13 hours of my life have been the most painful I have ever experienced. I'm not particularly weak, I think, but the only thing keeping me from weeping in despair is the knowledge that it would hurt too much to do so.
They told me all this beforehand, of course. They said it was going to hurt. They said it was going to get worse before it got better. But I just wasn't prepared. At all.
1-I have come to have an excellent understanding of why plumbing drain stacks need a vent for fresh air access. Because with 0% usability of my nose right now, I am almost completely incapable of swallowing anything but the tiniest bites of food or sips of water as it is very clear that the pressure of swallowing is normally diffused out the nostrils. The pressure generated from swallowing now is pure torture, which is not helped at all by the seemingly copious amount of blood draining back down my throat.
2-It has been over 12 hours now, and the bleeding will not stop. The constant changing of bandages and cleaning up would be highly annoying if I weren't also in great pain. As it stands, it is an exercise in torture. A fresh set of gauze lasts maybe an hour. The blood drains down my throat, making me cough and swallow and causing my throat to get scratchy and inflamed.
3-The pain is completely centralized and highly focused in just my nose and forehead. The rest of my body below the neck feels perfectly fine, but I have such terrible congestion and headaches that I have done little else but lay down in bed doing nothing. It is now 11 at night and I am too awake and in pain to sleep, and yet I am so bed sore that I can not bear to recline for another moment.
4-I can barely eat pudding. I can barely drink water. I can't sleep at all. Light hurts. Sound hurts. My mouth gets unbearably dry because I have literally zero nasal functionality right now and have to exclusively breathe through my mouth. The closest I can get to sleep is tiny little 30 second microsleeps where I wake up because my tongue naturally rolls back to wet my ultra parched throat and chokes me awake because I CAN'T BREATHE at that point.
The mere state of
... keep reading on reddit β‘A "septoplasty and coblation of nasal turbinate" has been recommended for me.
I asked a doctor who told me the surgery wouldn't help my PND and it would only be to improve breathing, but I've read conflicting information online about it potentially causing drainage issues.
My PND is really aggressive and has been life-ruining for the past 7-8 years.
I plan to go ahead with it on the slight chance it helps, but I'm curious what you guys think. Could this possibly be the root cause?
So I have a severe deviated septum and nasal polyps, so I'm usually stuffed up in one nostril and breathing through one. I'm planning on getting the polyps removed and septum straightened. I've been mewing for over a month now. Anyone here who's gotten a similar surgery to improve nasal breathing and has it helped in mewing.

It seems the contact between my septum and turbinate is blocking airflow. Seeking some wisdom from docs to clarify/confirm and as to how to best proceed.
28M, 6 ft, 200lbs, Is it possible to correct a deviated nasal spine and a fractured cribriform plate with a maxilliofacial surgeon?
UPDATE: Koi is doing septum piercings as of 8/1/21 with vax card or (-) PCR test.
My daughter has been waiting to get a septum piercing since the pandemic shut the studios down. She is fully vaccinated and we were wondering if there are any places doing them yet.

I first noticed this bump about 2-3 weeks ago. It is fleshy, kind of soft but also firm, feels like it might be just part of my septum but it is tender. I have also been noticing increased sinus pressure on the same side and nose bleeds on the same side.
So Iβve done it, unfortunately. Blew a hole right through my septum wall. Iβve stopped using since but every few days or so the hole gets clogged and I have to shoot out a massive chunk booger to relieve it, thus exposing the hole again. My question is-as I continue to blow out the crusted mucus that forms, am I losing tissue and making the hole bigger?
Might there be a correlation to SCT?
I have a deviated septum with turbinate hypertrophy. Half ,y nose is clogged at night. Do nasal dilators help you sleep? I tried the nose strips before.. they are OK. If they do, what brand do you suggest?
Anything else you recommend? I want to try every before considering surgery.. I've tried Flonase, nasacort, rhinocort, xlear saline, ponaris and every antihistamine under the sun.

DNS is where a bone in the nose is bent to a side, causing your breath intake to be less on that side, along with other symptoms like headache etc.
I had a patient with a very severe nosebleed from a hole that went straight through his nasal septum. He essentially had one big nostril on the inside. He told me it was from using Flonase for allergies for years, and I didn't argue because I was too busy holding his nose and telling him to stop moving.
But.... he got it from cocaine, didn't he? There's no way Flonase did that.
The tattoo place said that they would sell me a spray but when I went they said that they ordered a shipment of but it got lost or it had not arrived yet.
so I went to CVS and found a saline nasal spray that only has purified water and sodium chloride in it and they were sold out of saline wound wash
I ordered one on Amazon and it should be here by Wednesday but would the nasal spray work in the mean time?
Hello doctors of reddit! I am a nurse from Melbourne and looking for opinions.
From age 18-24 I was addicted to oxymetazoline based nasal spray. I quit using this 3 years ago using the dilution method. It took 12 months to stop using it all together using this method.
Approx 2 years into using oxymetazoline nasal spray, age 20, I started getting sporadic headaches/pressure between my eyes. Now at age 28, they are so bad they cause visual disturbance and photophobia. Often I canβt work because of the severity.
Recent CT paranasal sinus indicates inferior turbinate hypertrophy, deviated septum and nasal polyps. I have also been diagnosed with chronic sinusitis.
I have been prescribed Nasonex which made the headaches worse. Then a regime of Avamys spray daily and Erythromycin 500mg BD. I have just finished the Erythromycin.
This has not helped, again my sinuses are more sore than ever and headaches are getting worse.
I have today been prescribed cefalexin to replace the Erythromycin, continue on Avamys once daily.
My question is, at this point should my GP refer me to an ENT or continue trying to treat the infection? Is there anything I can do to actually relieve the pain/pressure while using the antibiotics and Avamys?
*I have difficulty breathing through my nose
*I am allergic to penicillin
*Bony septa noted in right maxillary sinus
Thank you!
Iβm in my early 30s and I have a 10x12mm septum perforation and an 18x18mm area without cartilage overall (including perforation) due to damage to the surrounding tissue from two past procedures. I'm looking to get the septal perforation repaired, along with what I believe is a minor saddle nose deformity if possible.
I also have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which may be related to this issue. I've never cocaine or had trauma to the face.
I'm Canadian and would love to find a plastic surgeon in Canada, but I'm willing to travel anywhere if needed. It's a distressing issue to have. Any suggestions are much appreciated, as are suggestions of where I could ask about this.
