Ever since I arrived at a tropical country about two dozen days ago I've been feeling kinda weird, with a self-perceived shortness of breath (wanting to inhale deeply most of the time), tachycardia (140 HR after climbing a floor), and excessive sweating in the daytime mostly on my face/head and my hands without extenuating activities (at the worst moment a sweat droplet comes down every 5 seconds or so, and sometimes there's a tingling feeling in my hands or feet. The climate is certainly hot (90F around noon) and humid here, but it's not my first time living in this kind of climate.) I've been having a light cough for about 2 weeks, sometimes productive, sometimes not (I feel that I can control it if I don't want to cough), no fever, but some level of fatigue. I have increased urination, perhaps increased flatulence, and rather frequent burping.
Due to my malaise I mostly skipped on my academics, and I felt like I have trouble focusing. I've been sleeping well lately, sometimes with a light sweat.
When I breathe (mostly deeply) my nostrils sometimes get bigger and then revert to the normal size. I've read in the internet that it may be nasal flaring, which is an emergency sign of COVID and other respiratory distresses. However, my oxygen levels from pulse oximetry are normal (96-98% SpO2 on my pulse oximeter; haven't done ABG), and I've talked to two doctors who both said no worries. I was tested negative for COVID via RT-PCR swab. I also tend to run out of breath when singing, and I feel increased resistance in the airway when I half-pinch my nose.
I've been in and out of the hospital constantly for the last week, sometimes for palpitations and sometimes for my self-determined shortness of breath. Once I was rushed to the ER for having a rapid resting heartrate (130), with a subsequent 12 lead ECG (sinus tachycardia 117 bpm, "ST elevation, probably normal early repolarization pattern"), CBC, electrolytes, creatinine, troponin T, and urinalysis. All came back rather normal. Finding include decreased RBC count (12.5 g/dL), decreased HCT (37%), elevated WBC (12000/ul), elevated neutrophils (85%), decreased lymphocytes (1070/ul, 8.5%, I'm kinda worried about this), decreased potassium (3.3). Chest X-ray was clear and unremarkable, and tonsils were normal.
I'm currently on propranolol s.i.d. 10mg to lower my heartrate, and it's working pretty well save for my decr

Chapter 45 β At the bottom of things
High-Matriarch Tua scowled, as she looked down at the hundreds of messages that she had gotten in the last hour alone. People were so needy these days.
Well, admittedly, she had, out of necessity, chosen a rather unfortunate moment for her departure from the station, after Jamesβ escapades had caused so much chaos for its people, but honestly, things had already been back in working order even before she had left. And all in all, damages had been on the low-end of her estimations.
There really wasnβt any reason to push this thing up like she had just abandoned them in the middle of some world-ending event. Yet still, message after message came flooding in, from people seeking her advice on the station as well as the scavengers from the press looking for any crumbs of information.
But that was the toll she had to pay for the fact that it seemed out of character for her to be anything but restlessly dutiful over her many years of service to the people who voted her into her office. And she would gladly pay it for them. The service to her people was a matriarchβs duty, that had been instilled into her from a very young age, and that duty extended to her role as the Leader-Supreme.
Still, sometimes, very rarely, she felt like she could do without the constant need for attention some people seemed to have. If she had wanted to comfort a horde of children, she would have borne her own and become a herd-mother like her dear sister. But that life had never been for her. And even if she was and felt responsible for them, she expected a bit more than whining and complaining out of the very much adult people she had the watch over.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud knock on the door.
She put down her assistant and looked towards the door.
βCome in!β she loudly ordered, uselessly making a welcoming gesture with her trunk, which the person on the other side of her door obviously couldnβt see.
The door was opened by one of her guards, allowing entrance to a much smaller figure who meekly entered the room; her gaze lowering respectfully as soon as it had met with that of Tua.
βAh, Doctor!β Tua happily exclaimed, delig

In addition to the GI symptoms, Iβve also frequently had uveitis, nasal ulcers, nasal swelling and skin issues (the skin around my nose will crack and bleed, almost looks like a burn. Same behind my ears) Lately the skin issues have been ramped up and the nasal issues. Has anyone ever experienced nasal passage swelling so it feels like your nose is constantly stuffy and you canβt breathe? Iβve used afrin which will help but I know that it shouldnβt be used more than 3 days in a row.
I just started entyvio and have completed two doses. I was on humira for nearly ten years and it worked great until it just stopped (no antibodies. It just quit working). We tried stelara which did absolutely nothing. Now itβs entyvio.

Hi all.
Currently dealing with symptoms from the virus, appears I have gotten Omicron but I got no idea which variant.
Late 30's male, J&J vaccine, booster in early November. High bp, moderate cholesterol, prediabetic, quite overweight, fatty liver, seborrheic dermatitis, usual gamut of mental issues us millennials have (anxiety, depression, etc). BP + cholesterol are being managed w/ medication and some exercise. Same for my mental stuff w/ Zoloft. Minor sleep apnea.
1/1 - I went to bed.
1/2 - Morning - Slept like a log, but woke up like I didn't get any sleep. Note, I normally don't sleep this "hard". I've had trouble staying asleep (but not falling asleep) for ages, so sleeping several hours straight for almost the full 8 hours is actually unusual for me. I woke up feeling like I didn't sleep. Trudged through the day but I found myself falling asleep while sitting at the computer, tried to get naps but kept getting interrupted. Went to bed early.
1/3 - Same thing - woke up like I got hit by a freight train, but no other symptoms. Went to work and did my best to get stuff done.
1/4 - Also same thing. Woke up with a runny nose. I have allergies so I thought it was that. I take care of my dad (he's generally able to move around on his own though) and near the end of the day I hear him coughing up a storm. I wasn't near him when this happened so I thought maybe he it was the usual allergies from my apartment.
1/5 - Woke up - again felt like crap. Nose was runny again, nasty sore throat, a metric ton of post-nasal drip, got out my Flonase and thought that was that.
Was about to go to work then I heard my dad coughing like crazy. On a hunch, I start asking him about his symptoms, when they started, etc. He said 1/2, had the chills, was kinda achy, no fever, but generally felt under the weather and his cough started yesterday. He blamed his current cough on some food he was cooking but I became the parent and dragged him to an Urgent Care to get both of us tested.
Quarantined, but I couldn't get my dad to isolate himself from me - our house is too small and he's really bad at following directions. Was coughing up a storm and he was inconsistent with his mask use.
1/6 - Same kinda sleep - slept like a log. Post nasal drip was coming down like a waterfall and felt scratchy. Tried to remote in and get some work done but it was really difficult to stay at my computer for any length of time. Test came back positive for my dad and

To celebrate my leaving EMS for fucking good, here's a meme post I submitted a year or so ago that features the actual calls I responded to on a daily basis. The longer I spent in that shit hole, the more real I realized this post was.
0200, wake up for shift. Throw on your dirty fallen apart boots and the same unwashed uniform you've worn the last 3 shifts. Take your morning prilosec. Happy birthday, me, you just turned 30. You still live in a single bedroom apartment and scrape by splitting rent with your ex, with whom you alternate nights sleeping on the couch. Don't say goodbye because it's two in the fucking morning and she's asleep.
Time to go to work. You dread this moment every day because COVID has increased work load to the point your system has been level zero consistently for three weeks straight. Luckily you only picked up 8 hours.
0300, get to work at your station in the middle of downtown. You work big city 911 at a large third service agency in the midwest. You're an hour early and can't even clock in yet, so you sit down to eat the breakfast of champions, some leftover McDonalds chicken nuggets and a warm Dr. Pepper. Halfway through the first nugget a supervisor tells you that we have no ambulances available in the entire city and calls holding, so it's imperative you go out early to "help the system" and save lives. You grudgingly agree, grab your partner and go available.
0307, you go available and immediately catch a call that's 30 minutes away and across the street from a major hospital. Priority 1 "agonal breathing" for a 12 year old male, full COVID precautions required.
0345, you actually make scene somehow, no other trucks were available this whole time even though you roll a fleet of 40 ambulances. You throw on your COVID PPE precautions, a single re-used surgical mask and some gloves that don't fit.
Patient's mother states that they contacted 911 because their son was snoring in his sleep and they've never heard their son snore before, so they woke the patient up and called 911. They now demand to be transported to a hospital all the way back fucking downtown even though the patient is now awake and completely asymptomatic. Policy states you can't say no.
0355, during transport you hear a call for a gunshot wound in the apartment complex you just responded to. No units available. GSW victim will have to wait.
0416, arrive at downtown hospital and drop off. Nursing staff make you wait 20 minutes. Every room is completely f

βWhat has you so pensive Two Trills?β Thirteenth Click asked as they darted around a particularly dense cluster of needle like leaves. βIs the laboratory nature of the forest freaking you out again as the human friends say?β
The massive forest stretched around them, monotonous in its conformity. One of the humans first extra-solar terraforming projects, this forest was one of the giant mammals proudest accomplishments. It was impressive. Even judged by the standards of the great forests of the Winged homeworld these βfirβ trees were massive. Their lower branches alone were massive enough to count as decent sized trees in their own right. The rough split bark offered innumerable comfortable perches. The scents that drifted from the internal fluids of the trees were heavenly. The extensive bryophytes that adorned their upper branches were delightful gardens. It was impressive, and disturbing if you didnβt strictly focus on a single tree.
Thirteenth Click understood why the trees were so evenly spaced of course. They were set out in a perfect grid, the pattern not broken, but alternated with the rounder, and near skeletal seasonal alteration trees that were supposedly necessary for optimal growth in the forest web. Somehow between the rigid, unnatural layout of the experimental forest, and the fact that the aggressive fir trees were rapidly killing their necessary companion species, and the fact that the humans considered this botanical warfare not only acceptable but natural, the entire situation just made one a little flighty. On top of all that his rather impressive nasal ridges, which flared and split attractively, were prone to getting stuck in the sap that leaked down from any injury in the treeβs outer bark. Once was quite enough times to need to comm for help because his nose was stuck to a tree.
βNot so much,β his superior answered. βI am just wondering if it is useful to warn you of your foolishness before hand.β

My brother is not vaccinated and seems to be feeling it harder than I am, I tested positive his test was negative.
Being a type 1 diabetic is what made me want to get the Pfizer vaccines. I kept trying to convince my brother but he kept telling me he was too scared because of adverse effects stories. The minute he started feeling symptoms, he said "I wish I got vaccinated" which really annoyed me and we got into an argument. (Some people are assuming me saying this is trying to prove anti-vaxxers wrong, I'm not telling anyone to go and take the vaccine, make your own decision, I'm just giving a personal account that might be of value to some people)
Anyway, so far I'm feeling a semi blocked nose, scratchy throat, slight feeling of a cough building in my upper chest, and Nausea. I still have my taste and smell.
My brother on the other hand is shivering, feels like he's been hit by a bus, and has body aches.
UPDATE: 7 HOURS SINCE WRITING THIS POST.
My symptoms have so far remained mild. My brother is in bad shape so I'm more worried for him. His whole body is aching, bad back ache, legs hurting, he was shivering like mad, sweating, headache. He has been asleep most of the day.
UPDATE: 15 HOURS SINCE WRITING THIS POST
My symptoms have remained a little bit mild, although I feel it building up in my lungs.
My brother on the other hand is getting bad. I'm keeping my eye on him incase I have to take him to hospital. His whole body is aching, head is like a migraine pain, and said his heart is beating fast. He said "thank god you took the vaccine". I'm not here to push a vaccine on anyone I'm just letting you know from two people currently going through covid. Just writing it how it plays out. Please keep my brother in your thoughts / prayers.
UPDATE DAY 2: 21 HOURS SINCE WRITING THIS POST
I woke up feeling a little worse. Head is hurting a bit more, cough is building. My blood glucose went up to 10.3 mmol/l when I woke up which isn't usual for me, but to be expected when dealing with an illness.
My brother has now tested positive, and woke up in the middle of the night really bad with a worse headache and body pains, however, this morning he is saying his headache is reducing, which is good.

Many cat owners have experienced a βsnotty kittyβ β your cat doesnβt feel well, sneezes and sounds congested much like a person with a cold. But what causes these infections and how can you help your cat feel better? We asked Dr. Dev to explain by launching his own token!!! $CATSNOT
What causes the infection? Who cares, the liquidity is locked and Dev is based!!!!
Feline upper respiratory infections are caused by a variety of highly contagious viruses and bacteria. The main agents of infections are the herpesvirus and calicivirus, together accounting for about 90% of infections. Additional agents are Chlamydophila, Mycoplasma, Bordetella, and other bacteria. A cat can be infected with more than one agent at a time. This is the biggest reason why we will be listing on CMC and CG
How did my cat get infected?πββ¬
Contract VerifiedβοΈβ You can see whats up!!! Safe functions, no mint, no pussy BS!!!
Usually, cats become infected at shelters or from contact with outdoor cats. The viruses are spread by wet sneezes from infected cats, and an uninfected cat must be in the same room or share the same toys/food bowls as an infected cat. Due to their undeveloped immune systems, kittens are predisposed to infection and are usually more severely affected. The herpesvirus can survive for 18 hours outside of the host, but the calicivirus can survive up to 10 days.
It is important to know that both the herpesvirus and calicivirus are permanent infections. They will stay within the catβs system for life. For the herpesvirus, episodes of stress (such as surgery, boarding, moving, new cat/dog in house, etc.) will cause a flare up of the disease about a week following the event. A cat will then shed the active herpesvirus for another couple of weeks. This is why sometimes in multicat households one cat will get sick, and the other cats will follow shortly after.
The calicivirus can shed continuously (not just in times of stress like the herpesvirus) for several months after the initial infection. However, most cats affected by the calicivirus do not seem to have the same recurrence issues like the cats with the herpesvirus.
Can I get this infection? Can my dog?
No. These viruses are not transmissible to people or to other animals.
What should I look for if my cat is infected?

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
I'm 17 and I've had long Covid since September. My breathing isn't great and I've had a bad cough for awhile along with other symptoms.
I've been given a steroid inhaler, antibiotics, I've just been prescribed antihistamines and a steroid nasal spray, and I'm back on the steroid inhaler after my symptoms flared up again after Christmas up until now (it wasn't a reinfection from the new variant, I tested negative 3 times). They're basically just trying everything because no one really knows how to treat this properly yet.
My GP just booked me in for a chest x-ray to see what's going on.
Now, here's a problem, I'm the type where my dysphoria is so severe that I would honestly rather live with my symptoms then have a chest x-ray done with just a hospital gown on, unless I'm actively dying. I've been out of commission for 2 weeks because my dysphoria is so bad that I can't go further than the bathroom without binding while I'm sick. No one in my family sees me when I'm not binding, and I stay in bed most of the time so I don't have to see or feel what's there as much. I've tried transtape a few times but I can't seem to get it to work properly.
Even if I were comfortable with just a baggy hoody, it's not like I could wear one to school because we have a uniform. I've been getting a little better on the inhaler so I'm going to try going into school this week while binding, but if I struggle to breathe too much throughout the day, I really don't know what to do? In any other year, I wouldn't be as bothered but this is my final exam year and I've already missed a combined time of over a month due to long-Covid.
Bright side is my parents have realized how big of an impact my dysphoria can have on my daily life and basic function so they've talked with me about getting a consultation for top surgery soon.
Anyway, back to my question, can I bind while having a chest x-ray done?
...I'm not going to like the answer, am I?
Has anyone successfully healed oral lichen planus? I've tried a few things now without much luck. Could use some encouragement and would love to hear any stories of what has worked for people.
Thanks for anything you can share.

Blood dripped from the carcasses hanging from the ceiling. It leaked into the drainage system on the ground, the floor made out of rusted steel. The blood left a metallic scent in the air that invaded the nasal cavities and left a bad taste in your mouth. BipBap was used to it. Heβd been used to the smell for over a century now. In a rare moment of humility, heβd opted to wear a more conspicuous outfit, putting on a simple long-sleeved black shirt, dress pants and nice shoes. Better to walk around Roarhaven in. People tended to ignore you unless you gave them a reason to notice you. Heβd left his cane in his spare bedroom down here, and his more regal looking clothes stored in a cupboard. Before the siege on the High Sanctuary, he, with the help of Quiver Runh and Zafeer, had dragged his most precious and illegal items down here. His basement. Theyβd found nothing. Of course they hadnβt. Stupid, unimaginative folk that Vesuvius had surrounded himself with didnβt come close to BipBapβs intellect. They hadnβt found the entrance that led down here. Here, he was safe to conduct his experiments.
He strode into a large circular room with a metal table in its centre. A metal arm stretched out from the floor, ending with a large spherical glass case with rubber at the lid. On the metal table was the man that Bones had tasked Splinter Note into retrieving. Naked with his mouth taped shut, BipBap ignored the man. He grabbed a butcherβs apron and put it on, tying it firmly so it didnβt sway around. He worked methodically, as heβd always done. He washed his instruments and utensils of the last subject's blood. He washed his hands and put gloves on. Over the years, heβd established a rhythm. A pattern.

I was certain that I would have antibodies due to the reasons listed below but I am wondering, is it possible to have had the infection and no longer have antibodies and still suffer from Long haul symptoms? I am absolutely devastated because I was hoping to join a Long Haul trial near me but they require a positive antibody test so now like many of you I am just here barely getting by.
My boyfriend had was Covid positive in February of 2021, and I had mild symptoms including chest constriction, sore throat and a headache as well as fatigue. My symptoms were so minute I was not surprised when all my tests came back negative. However, I did do all the testing myself and I will admit I was a bit squeamish about the nasal swab at first.
So we quarantined and then later in March we were both vaccinated by J&J. Now, starting in October I have experienced...
crippling fatigue, tachycardia, low blood pressure, swelling around my eyes, paresthesia, disautonomia, numbness in my extremities, muscle weakness, roaming nerve pain, headaches (mild), lightheadedness, dehydration regardless of fluid intake, internal tremors, external tremors that coincide with large episodes of syncope, visual disturbances, air hunger, and more.
I am a 28 year old female, I was previously very active. I have had so much blood work done, I have had a tilt table test, and chest x-rays, and I will be going in for a brain stem MRI tomorrow.
My scariest symptoms happen every couple of weeks kind of like a flare up. Out of the blue the fatigue will intensify as will the dizziness and internal tremors and then inevitable it gets to the point where I all but pass out and my heart rate skyrockets and I start to uncontrollably tremor. It sort of looks like shock symptoms and since October the major episodes have happened three times, twice I was taken to the ER and all times nothing came of it, except for the following five days or so I can barely get off the couch.
Hi. So, Iβve had symptoms of an AI disorder for about a decade now, but am looking for some advice about which one it might be. (My GP doesnβt seem to take this concern seriously, and wonβt authorize tests that could give me an answer.) Apologies in advance for the length!
My symptoms: Mainly a low-grade fever at least a few times a week; at least once a week, Iβll feel like I have either a really bad cold/flu for just one or two days, then be totally fine the next day; regular night sweats; severe insomnia; severe Raynaudβs Phenomenon and erythromelalgia; chronic nasal scabs; chronic irritable bowel syndrome D; anemia caused by extremely heavy menstrual cycles; moderate dry eye and severe ocular sensitivity to UV light; severe chemical and scent sensitivity; clinical depression and some memory issues.
My biggest complaint, however, is the βflaresβ that happen at least once a week now. Iβll be convinced the flu is coming on, but never develop it. I have a lot of body aches, chills/hot flashes, fever, severe fatigue, etc., but then the next day or two be totally fine. On the bad days, I usually canβt get out of bed.
Iβm female, 43, and have never given birth (if that matters). I donβt drink that much, donβt smoke, eat fairly healthy, and exercise on the days that I feel well.
I would think Lupus bc of the Raynaudβs and erythromelalgia, but I donβt have the characteristic Lupus rash on my cheeks. I also donβt have regular muscle aches (just when iβm having a flare). Oh, I also donβt have sun sensitivity (besides my eyes); sunlight actually makes me feel much better. Is it possible it could be Lupus even though I donβt have these classic symptoms?
To clarify: I donβt have HIV or Lyme or any other tick-borne illnesses. Iβve been tested for those recently.
Anyone have any idea what this could be? Iβm really sick of the fevers and flu-like malaise. Iβm also sick of family/coworkers thinking that Iβm making all this upβwhen Iβm not.
Thanks so much for wading through this! Lol.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
Hello all, I am back here to shed some light and hope for all.
I was floxxed on June 21st, 2021 from 3 Shitpro pills.
My reaction was initial and i had the following
Insmonia, Burning Sensations in my feet, Muscle pain in my quads (stabbing feeling), Headpressure, Sore throat, Fatigue, Depression, Anxiety.
At the moment i basically have just some muscle quad soreness left and maybe a tad of burning in my left foot that is very very minimal. Insomnia was the worst , sleeping 1 hr and waking up like a fuckin owl was horrible, it went away on its own and i actually sleep a lot more now than preflox.
I had 2 flare ups along this journey. I also caught covid 2 weeks ago. (I'm Negative now) with some lingering lower back pain from covid. (this is my second covid , first was jan 1 2021 -preflox, and second was 2 weeks ago ( including 2 pfizer jabs ).
I haven't tried sports yet and will soon begin with basic stuff like body weight training instead of weights. Pushups, squats, jump rope.
I am able to be functional drive my car, go for long walks, light jog with no issue.
I can drink alcohol as it helped with the muscle pain but haven't drank more than a few beers or a gin & coca cola mix , once or twice every few weeks. ( I am not much of an alcohol fan anyways).
I had some ketamine once or twice with no issue at a party and maybe a few lines of coke again with no issue.
My Supp Regimen was as follows:
-ALA 600, NAC (stopped it when the bottle ran out), Mg Glycinate ( I've tried oxide and Citrate before), Coq10, Zinc, VIt D 10,000IU, Vit c, Billberry (for 2 months in the beginning), Tumeric , Oregano Oil Extract, omega 3, b12.
TBH i dont know if the supplements were helping or not but i do give credit to ALA, Mg.
I also had IV of Lipids, B complex, and Vit C , 2 weeks post flox.
I can say now i am somewhat recovered with some minor issues like waking up with sore quads that go away and some general depression about this whole issue. Hoping the rest of these will go away as well.
I was able to travel to Romania for some Hemp Business, and Vienna for a CBD expo and had fun.
I always ate healthy as i live in Lebanon and we have a Mediterranean cuisine but that never hindered me from eating fast food once a week like Burger King Whoppers, or cripsy chicken tender, sweets, and coffee ( i drink like 3/4 a day now).

I've been trying all these years to put in words what the actual experience feels like but it is so difficult...
My trips always begin with that beautiful warming feeling running trough my whole body, I then proceed to set up my music and headphones and to blindfold myself, the good thing after injecting K is that you have good 5 minutes to set everything up before the trip. Once I'm nice and comfy the journey begins, first sinking into the bed, that always happens, then the flight starts.
I've got used on realizing that I am being conscious throughout the whole experience, this didn't start to happen with the first experiences but it took time, if I was scared of holing at beginning, now it is my safe place, a confortabile mind universe I can go back to whenever I need and whenever the time is due.
Once the flight begins it is not easy to understand when consciousness and my being separates from each other, it's like being in a big life cycle, body less entities in infinite chambers wrapping me with knowledge of what it has been, what is and it will be, I'm feeling part of a network of souls, every life form interconnected, sharing vibrations and light impulses passing trough my ego and my synapses. I am aware that my body is laying on a bed somewhere on planet earth during the trip and I find that funny.
I always smile because I can experience what the afterlife might be, and that is a comforting and scary thought at the same time. If death were a khole I'd be happy to spend the eternity there, stuck in that mellow gooey wall floating in the universe, seeing planets spinning by and truly appreciating that time is only a human construct, related and familiar to mortals only.
I usually am in the hole for around 30-45 minutes but it always feel much longer, I get disappointed when I come out of it and only with 1 eye (too blurry if both are open) checking the clock, then I think about the experience I just had and a warm happy feeling just hit me, even tho 10 more minutes wouldn't have harmed.
I still don't think my words explain exactly the feelings of realization and sudden knowledge of the power of my human brain, capable of going so deep into the fabric of universal energy streaming straight into my skull.

Hi
Iβm really hoping for some help and guidance if possible
Iβve had a few symptoms for many years now, and Iβve tried making many changes but nothing has really helped me completely.
The most significant change was to remove dairy. I know I am allergic to it as my throat gets very tight after eating dry cheese, and it has a very negative effect on my skin, eg: acne, hives or both. It also can cause diarrhoea. My daughter is also highly allergic.
Unfortunately I still have issues with hives and mild acne and stomach upsets. I believe there is a good chance salicylate is contributing. The reason I suspect this is because I react very badly to Naproxen (horrendous stomach pain) it also nearly killed my grandma due to internal bleeding. Another reason is that I have nasal polyps. Another is that I get random hives flare ups. Finally when I look at my diet I see so many red flags.
Iβve always tried to eat well and exercise, and I eat what I think is healthy, but βhealthyβ foods appear on the salicylate list
On a typical day Breakfast: Oats with peanut butter and honey, made with almond milk 2nd breakfast: Avocado on toast with poached eggs Lunch: grilled chicken with rice Dinner: dried pasta cooked with supermarket made tomato based sauce with chicken Snacks: mixed nuts, dates, raisins, dark chocolate Drinks: water, coffee, sometimes Prosecco
Naturally this does vary sometimes, but I eat these type of foods regularly.
I would really appreciate if someone might care to give some feedback on this diet. In particular Iβm curious about tomato based sauces, as this may be a real challenge to replace with stews and pastas and so many other dishes. Peanut butter and almond milk are also foods that Iβd very much like to know are ok
Thank you!
Hello fellow allergy sufferers.
Here's my situation. I have chronic sinusitis. It occurs often within a 2-3 day period where my sinuses get so swollen that I am unable to do a saline flush or properly blow my nose. Decongestants don't touch it. When it gets like this, like clockwork I go to my urgent care, they prescribe me prednisone and an antibiotic and within a day or two my sinuses are open again.
And then 2-3 weeks after, boom, same thing happens.
It's maddening...
I've gone to two different ENTs about this, and they both have told me I have a slightly deviated septum, but nothing to warrent surgery. And they too just prescribe the same regimen.
The other thing that concerns me is a bump on my mouth's soft palette which flares up along with my allergies/sinusitis and opens up into an open sore. It get's itchy when it does this as well. When the sinusitis/allergies resolve, the bump closes up and goes flush against the pallet. The bump has been there over 4+ years. The ENTs didn't seem too worried. They were going to do a biopsy but didn't want to damage my soft pallet.
Drugs I'm taking:
Everyday - Zyrtec | Advair For when Zyrtec doesnt cut it, I'll add a benedryl. I used to use claritin, but that stopped working, and it seems Zyrtec is starting to be less effective.
I would use something like flonase, but with my sinuses being swollen so often, I can't get nasal sprays up there.
Allergies: pretty much everything, Cats, Dogs, Mold, Pollen, dust. No known food allergies.
I have a cat, so that doesn't help, I have an air filter blasting and use a vaccum with a hepa filter to combat. I was getting allergy shots for the cat, but they stopped the shots when they started upping the dose and I almost had anaphylactic shock.
Seeking any advice or ideas you can give. Am I cursed with this forever?
Thank you, and may your tissues never run out.
Hello. Wanna write a disclaimer that I am from a very third world country so a lot of US things about COVID do not apply here such as drive through testing and early vaccination. I was double vaxxed in August and here they don't give you a booster before 6 months so I was due in February.
In the meantime I caught what I believe is COVID from my brother who is 11 and goes to school. He, my father and my grandmother all had mild symptoms. My grandmother tested positive on the rapid test but my father didn't want to take her for a PCR with the risk of exposing her further also there are crazy waiting times and she is 93 years old so because he is a doctor he decided to wait. Everyone is fine, and whether it was a false positive or actually COVID it passed mildly for everyone.
I had a fever of 100 degrees F for three days, headaches and mild nasal congestion. However my HS exploded! All of my old flares activated. I lit up like a Christmas tree. Anyone that had COVID with HS experienced something similar? I did break my diet a bit because of the holidays, but I just got aggressively flared while I was sick everywhere. I wonder if the two are connected?
On occasions I've had a HI episode, despite not eating anything.
My episodes (what I call them) consist of becoming covered in sweat, getting waves of anxiety, cramps and restless legs/everything, diarrhoea, insomnia, nause(that comes in waves, getting more and more intense) and really intense vomiting.
Sometimes I'll get an episode in my sleep, where I'll wake up in the middle of it, mid vomit. Those scare the shit out of me.
The only thing that provides relief are antihistamines (90 % of the time it's all I need) and heavy doses of Opioids (basically to knock me out) for really bad episodes.
Of course I've done the whole fast and diet thing, I've got the food app and I try to stay away from triggers. Sourdough, smoked fish, smoked meats, any sort of fruit and veg that isn't utterly fresh (they cause the worse episodes).
On top of this I've also noticed is that I will get an episode when I'm coming down with a virus, usually at the beginning of the infection.
Like this morning. I woke up. Had my usual coffee and before I knew it was upon me.
I've had 180mg of fexofenadine but it doesn't seem to be doing as well as usual. Hell 90mg is usually enough.
I've found in the past that a tolerance to antihistamines occurs and I've got to tread very carefully during hayfever season.
I'm utterly over this pain and discomfort. I'm so over fucking over this. I hate it. It's so soul destroying. And of course no one knows how it feels.
I've gone through a lot of pain in my life, strokes, cluster headaches, kidney stones, broken limbs, and opiate withdrawals that would turn you into mush. But these episodes once they have a hold, it's like being in the south Sea. 5 metre waves, not of water, but of the most intense pain, anxiety, scattered thoughts, nausea, cramps pick you up and pull you down into the trough of pain.
I just feel like there is no way out of this ocean.
A little reading, sorry. But it's appreciated.
About midway through May, I noticed my right ear was ringing something fierece. I normally have tinnitus, but not bad enough to be bothered by it, and mostly relating to wax since most rings I've had don't last. this was a different ring, and right around that time I started to sound really stuffed up. I wasn't really, but everyone would tell me I sounded like my nose was completely blocked off. I could tell too. This hasn't really changed until now, where it's at it's worst.
I went through 2 or 3 rounds of antibiotics and was supposed to try a 4th with a much stronger one, but I've sat on it. The ringing actually did get better on each one but only toward the end and usually only temporary. It made me think, ok, I have to have an infection. Especially after the last antibiotic, biaxin, I can breathe through my nose a lot better and taste/smell great.
But the pressure is still there. I still sound horribly stuffed up, and my ringing actually got worse after ending the last antibiotic. It had done the most for my ringing too, oddly enough. I worried that the "infection" got worse since the antibiotics only partly fought it, and that maybe it became stronger.
Fast forward to a week or so ago when I started getting a pretty nasty headache around the eye and above, and below the eye on the cheek. It felt like squeezing. One day it just felt like someone punched me in the nose. I managed that with some tylenol and was good by Monday. Then on Thanksgiving night trying to sleep, my upper back teeth were pulsating with pain. I know sinus pressure can push down on the roots of the top teeth which I think could be the case.
I also know I'd been grinding my teeth like an absolute tweaker as a result of increasing caffeine intake and stress at work (retail job, holidays etc). I have impacted wisdom teeth but not too bad. It's the bottom ones that are bad with my bottom right one being sideways, that one I know needs to come out. These have never really hurt, but I know decay is likely if I don't remove them.
I've grinded my teeth all my life but very on and off. I have OCD/ADHD and various impulsive habits and usually only one of them dominates. They could involve my fingers instead of my mouth and that could be the case for weeks or longer. So is it the grinding, maybe, but it genuinely feels like something is pushing on the roots of those teeth, and I can only suspect it's the sinuses inflammed and that's also why

Hey everyone,
I posted a bit back about tinnitus from an ear infection. The post didnt really blow up but I noticed a lack of follow up posts on this subreddit so I decided to share mine for the heck of it.
About a week and a half ago I developed a super loud ringing in my right ear when I laid down to sleep. I usually know that this means Im developing an ear infection, so I played it safe and scheduled an appointment for my GP and an ENT.
After two days of hell and no sleeping or eating, my GP said there was fluid behind the ear drums and that I most likely had a bacteria infection. At this point the Tinnitus was like a 8/10 compared to my past infection-induced flare ups and I was going crazy so she gave me a pretty high dosage of amoxicilin. After three more days of hell and no improvement I saw my ENT.
The ENT did a hearing test and said my hearing wasnt damaged and that it was most likely a viral infection in the inner ear which is why the amoxicilin wasnt working. She said she was optimistic that it would go away and gave me a 15 day course of prednisone and reccomended any sinus relief otc meds I was comfortable getting to help drain the fluid.
Fast forward to now after a combination of amoxicilin, prednisone, sudafed, and nasal spray, and it is finally at such a manageable level. Like a 0.5/10. I dont even notice it unless im in a silent room and i plug my ears. Even then I could just be imagining it.
Weirdly enough, I do feel like I have a bit of reactionary tinnitus. Like theres a little dental tool that turns on when things get loud. Im hopeful that will go away as I continue to get better like it usually does.
At any rate, hopefully this comforts some people who get it suddenly from an ear infection. With medication give it a few weeks, and get to a doctor asap.
Im dreading the next ear infection i get haha. This community has gained one more person that will donate a good chunk to tinnitus research if I ever win the lottery.
Hello, everyone. I'm quite new to having GERD, and I guess more than anything I'm looking for others who developed the condition in similar ways to me.
Long story not exactly short: I've had Celiac disease all my life, found out about it in high school, really didn't take my diet seriously until very recently. I'm pretty sure this is where most of my GI complications come from; even though I'm strict about my diet now, there's two and a half decades worth of damage done to my gut at this point.
Over the last year, I'd been having odd symptoms that my doctor quite frankly shrugged off. Assumed it was just a weird Celiac thing. In October, things went very downhill very fast, I ended up in the ER, and discovered I needed my gallbladder removed. Had the thing taken out on November 12th, and started developing GERD symptoms about a week after the operation. Ever since, I've been experiencing reflux every single night, and I am absolutely miserable. My symptoms include:
My doctor has me on cholestyramine once a day as a bile sequestrant, because we thought this might be bile reflux since it only really started post operation. It felt like this was helping at first, but now I'm not so sure; been taking it every day for nearly a month, and I'm in the middle of a worse-than-usual reflux party that started about 3 days ago. I eat small meals, and avoid gluten, dairy, spicy and high fat foods. I stop eating about 3-4 hours before bed most nights, and my episodes last about that long. I sleep on a steep wedge pillow.
Antacids only help sometimes, and they never truly stop the reflux. Getting rid of the gas buildup usually seems to be the thing that reduces the reflux most. I have a followup with my doctor in a week, and I'm pretty sure
... keep reading on reddit β‘I used to be a singer before my mcas really started flaring bad. I take Zyrtec daily, and it helps a lot, but one side effect is it dries my throat out really bad. Frequently, pre and post starting Zyrtec, after like half an hour of singing, my throat feels raw and dry and painful, and my nose clogs up. I had initially thought it was a combination of singing in a moldy room; just knocking the existing mucous loose in there; poor technique; being too dry from the Zyrtec to rehydrate vocal chords fast enough to support singing. But after having addressed all those things to the best of my ability, nothing has changed, except maybe the nasal congestion. The same problem arises sometimes with just regular speaking.
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it or thought it was a plausible theory that the act of speaking (and more so, singing) itself was causing mast cells to freak out.
I tried rubbing Benadryl cream on my throat twenty minutes ago. I'm wondering if this will effect it if it is in fact an allergic reaction to the vibration of speaking.
I also have hEDS and have heard just having derpy connective tissue can cause mast cells to flare, which was what stemmed my theory about speaking.
Thanks
I have asthma and allergies that flare due to many triggers and i currently have a glucorticoid nasal spray. I have a theory any help it could bring my allergies and asthma from the glucorticoid is negated by the synthetic chemical SCENT. I need an over the counter nasal allergy spray preferably with a STEROID or GLUCORTICOID with NO SCENT to help me breathe and sleep at night, i am constantly in a zombie state and heavily reliant on caffeine to function.
I ALREADY have a specialist appointment with a pulmonolgist in a few months but i need something to help me till then, again unscented. I try to reduce the things I am triggered by however, just staying away from my triggers is not really possible as I have so many of them unless i stay home 24/7.
TLDR; need recs for glucorticoid unscented nasal spray OTC.
thanks.

A pattern. A way to do this with as little problem as possible. If it was one thing he had always believed in, it was that knowledge is power. Knowledge was advancement. And if people had to die for that advancement to happen, so be it.
βSorry for the wait Mrβ¦. Galen. Iβm a very busy man with a lot of things happening. Iβm sure you understand,β BipBap carried over a tray of tools and placed them gen
