Anyone else done with National anthem at sporting events?

It’s not pro events or Olympics. Every kids event has to start with the National anthem (or pledge of allegiance).
Besides the forces patriotism, what’s the point? It’s political lip service. Everyone always claps.

I just don’t get it’s place.

How do you deal with annoying hecklers at sporting events?

Went to my first flames game today, and unfortunately sat in front a bunch of loud ass college bros who kept yelling shit non stop, at first I thought it was just the normal game experience, but they just kept going like a broken record yelling β€œFuck you!!” And the worse part is, I kept feeling something tugging on my coat, I thought maybe they stepped on my hat so I took my coat off and put it away. And I heard the guy behind me tell his friends β€œI really like that coat, the guy in front of me”. After the game my gf told me the fur on my hat is fucked up, turns out the douche was plucking it. They kept engaging with people nearby telling them to shut the fuck up, but not to their face, instead they act like they were heckling the game, yelling shit targeting at other people. I’m mad because I regret not saying anything to them , in the mean time I don’t really want to get into fights with some random bums, honestly it ruined the whole experience for me, besides us losing to Boston. How would you deal with situation like this?

Am I wrong for not "showing respect" to flag at a sporting event?

I recently went to a sporting event (I don't want to say which sport or team) where I was called out for not showing proper respect during the national anthem. Here's the situation - I had already spent nearly a half hour in line while security checked both bags and COVID vaccine cards. I've put my wallet and keys in the conveyor and was in the actual metal detector when the guard stops me and announces for everyone to stay where they are at while the National Anthem played.

Since I'm under the freaking metal detector and I'm very worried about my wallet and phone just lying there on the table, I politely but firmly step through and wait on the other side of the machine. I also pick up my valuables because well I don't want them getting snatched. Dude is silently fuming while the song plays but then goes off on me afterward. Not only does he make me go back through but then pats me down, all the while telling me how could I be so disrespectful to the troops who died under the flag.

So was I in the wrong here? First, I get that security has a hard job and I was not trying to be disrespectful. I also have vets in my family so it's not like I hate the military. But at the same time the constant shows of forced patriotism are annoying, especially given all the BS that the American government has done through the years. And I also didn't want to leave my valuables alone for three minutes which made them easy to snatch.

For whatever reason, Harry and the Dursleys are at a major muggle sporting event when the dementors sent by Umbridge attack.

Just thinking, going by Janniinger's post about stuff downgraded from canon...dementors are really, really unsubtle, even if they're invisible to muggles.
Sudden onset of freezing cold, spontaneous stormclouds in daylight or stars winking out at night, inexplicable gloom and despair...possibly messing with electronic devices too (just a guess, but it seems like a thing they'd do, since Hogwarts messes with electricity...).

So...the dementors sent after Harry were willing to treat Dudley as collateral damage. What if, due to a change in timing (and the Dursleys being unwilling to leave Harry alone in their house), their first opportunity to attack Harry was, say, the 1995 British National Track Championships, and they took it (all those emotions running high, just like the Gryffindor/Hufflepuff cup...), Statute of Secrecy be damned?

The music and sound effects that play at sporting events (basketball, hockey, etc.) are fucking annoying and shouldn't be played at all

I genuinely don't understand how people can enjoy going to a basketball game and sitting in the crowd while Pharrell Williams' "Happy" blares over giant loud speakers.

Not only is it distracting to the players, but wouldn't it be better if in between plays there was just silence? Like you could talk to the person beside you about the game or the crowd could cheer for their team, but no, the stadium thinks that cranking Darude Sandstorm to full volume for a few seconds is the better option.

Most people singing The Star Spangled Banner at sporting events are not doing it correctly for their own vain purposes.

I’ve had enough of the soulful, long winded, and unnecessarily dragged out performances that we are subjected to at most sporting events. The national anthem is intended to be an uptempo jaunty tune. But, these narcissistic singers turn it into a funeral dirge or even something like a makeout song that lasts way too long.

The only sport that seems to get it right is hockey.

Question about eating at sporting events in Finland

Sorry if this is a boring or silly question. We're from the US but moved to Finland about a year and a half ago. For obvious reasons, I hadn't attended any live, professional sporting events here until a few weeks ago. Now that I've gone to one soccer match (Finland vs Ukraine) and one Jokerit game, I thought I would ask about the norms for eating at sporting events.

At both events, there were very few food options available and I rarely saw anybody eating while at their seats. At the Jokerit game, there were Pizza Hut vendors, but I don't think I saw anybody eating pizza (or drinking beer) in their seats. Maybe a few were eating popcorn, but even that was rare. It's very different from the US where the variety of food available is a point of pride for a stadium or arena and eating snacks or a full meal at your seat is totally normal.

So is eating at your seat even allowed in Finland? Or is it allowed but just normally not done? Is this just in Finland, or is it all over Europe?

Again, sorry if this seems like a dumb question. I'm still learning my way around here and found this cultural difference really interesting.
