A list of puns related to "Mus Musculus"
Galanin neurons "By tracing the long axon fibers of this pool of neurons they found that they extend out from neurons in the hub region of the hypothalamus, the team closely investigated the function and anatomy of four of the 20 pools they had found. One set of axons projected to the periacqueductal gray in the midbrain, an area involved in motor behaviors. Manipulating that pool of neurons affected grooming behavior, although not the parentsβ retrieval of pups. A pool in the ventral tegmental area (VTA), a reward-related region, controlled the motivation to engage in parenting tasks. When the VTA neurons were stimulated, both male and female mice worked harder to cross barriers placed between them and their pups. A third projection to the medial amygdala (MeA), a locus for emotion, inhibited competing social interactions with other adults such as male aggression against other males. The fourth projection led to the paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus, a key area for neuroendocrine control. This area modulated parenting-related hormones such as oxytocin, vasopressin and corticotropin-releasing hormone."
Other researchers have also performed blood transfusions between pregnant dams and virgin mice. The transfused virgin mice stopped their avoidance of mouse pups and began grooming behaviors.
Others have found that virgin female rats avoid or attack pups, but postpartum dams will press a lever more than 100 times per hour to have a pup delivered into their nest box with each press.
It is interesting to think where this discovery might be therapeutically applicable?

There are plenty of databases out there, but they all seem to only provide sequencing data in epigenetic studies. I figured a list would exist somewhere on Ensembl or NCBI, but I can't find it.
I'm looking for a list like this, but for mice.

Hi I've been visiting this r/Philippines for about 1 or 2 years now and I've seen lots of very knowledgable people here so I was wondering if you guys could help me in my problem I've been searching the internet for places to buy them but I just can't seem to find a authentic seller of mice for a legit experimentation....
Thanks In advance
So there I was, slumped back in my computer desk's chair, working on a terribly boring essay I'd been chipping away at all day. The room was silent, save the soft crunching of salty pretzels between my teeth. After one particularly large gulp, everything became still. I was home alone and, quite foolishly, believed that there were no other living things in my midst.
I was wrong. From a nearby wall I began to hear high pitched screeching noises, as if something were trying to communicate with me from the beyond. I froze in my chair as the hairs on my arms and the back of my neck began to rise one by one. And all of a sudden, a dark figure emerged from underneath the dining room table, not far off from where the initial screeching had come from. It lumbered towards me, each rapid step echoing the thuds from my accelerating heartbeat. As I prayed for forgiveness to my sweet Lord Jesus, I prepared to begin my journey into the afterlife. Then, without warning, the mouse darted in the other direction and returned to it's place of residence.
BROADENING AND NARROWING
The reason Iβm putting these together is that weβve already kinda talked about this with hypernyms and hyponyms earlier this month. Review: a hypernym is a word with a broad sense (e.g., βcolorβ) while a hyponym is a word with a narrow sense (e.g., βred,β βyellow,β βgreen,β βblue,β etc.). Broadening and narrowing is simply the process of semantic change when a wordβs sense alternates in specificity.
When a lexemeβs sense broadens, it becomes less specific. When it narrows, it becomes more specific. For example, the word βmouseβ has experienced both semantic broadening and narrowing throughout its history. In Old English, the word βmusβ referred not only to the small rodent, but also to the muscles of the upper arm, apparently by analogy that the flexing of an arm is similar to the movement of a mouse. We got our word for βmuscleβ from the Latin βmusculusβ which was a diminutive meaning βlittle mouse,β then βmusβ narrowed to only refer to the small rodent.
Fast forward a few centuries to 1965. Weβve had some vowel shifts happen so the word is now βmouseβ (with the irregular plural mice) and we have since invented computers. Two computer engineers named Bill English and Douglas Engelbart invent a device for selecting a specific point in a computer display. The device is small, round, and uses a cord similar to a tail. They call it a βmouse,β again by analogy, and the name stuck. βMouseβ has now semantically broadened.
You get the drift? Sometimes semantic broadening can become semantic bleaching where a word will broaden so much that it means both everything and nothing. For example, βthingβ used to refer to an assembly, but now it meansβ¦ whatever you want it to mean, really.
So, itβs time to narrow into your conlangβs lexicon and broaden it. What are some examples of semantic narrowing and broadening in your languageβs history? Does it result in any interesting βsplitsβ like βmouseβ and βmuscleβ (or βpoisonβ and β

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hey all, this is a bit of a noob question and I'm sorry if the answer is obvious
I am gathering relevant datasets for certain pathogens on NCBI. I want to get a number of datasets grouped by reporter.
So for example if I am searching for Tuberculosis relevant to mus musculus and I get multiple datasets from the same reporter. Is there a way to group these, either by the search filters or programatically (using an existing tool, R or python)
Any advice is helpful, thanks so much :)
