Like i have a client and a fixed contract that have been making my upwork life hell for the past 3 months and idk how soon this will end but i need it to end so freaking bad, and we already had a lot of arguments, and since upwork dispute is useless/ takes the client side so im wondering if just walking away can result in a ban

Getting hit with that 3% fee when you’re only getting 2-5% back sucks hard. So how do you top up without paying fees? Here are your options:

Credit Cards: Topping up with a credit card always incurs a 2.99% fee. If your credit card has rewards, it can help offset those fees but very few people have credit cards with that high of a return on “All Purchases”. Because let’s face it, there will never be additional cash back % on crypto related purchases with credit cards. My Chase Unlimited gives me 1.5% on all purchases. Not that great, and it ain’t no CRO Visa level reward for Ruby or higher. Basically, unless your credit card offers at least 3% cash back, you're losing out on the cash reward benefits of the CRO Visa debit card.

Debit Cards: For most US banks, you can top up with your debit card for free. I have Wells Fargo (yes, yes, I know they're evil). While CRO does not charge for US debit card top ups, some banks may still charge additional fees. I've been told BofA has something like an “international fee”, so you still end up with like a 3% fee for debit for whatever reason. (BofA can suck bofa deez…)

ACH: This is free to transfer from your bank to your fiat wallet in the app. From there, you can transfer (for free) from your fiat wallet into your CRO Visa debit card. The downside is that it takes 3-5 days to complete the transfer from bank to fiat wallet. And again, some banks might still charge fees to do this. Wire Transfers function in a similar fashion and can be faster (1-2 day) but they usually have some sort of transfer fee on the bank side.

Selling Crypto: this is also an option, but only for specific coins if you have them in your crypto wallet. It comes with it’s own set of fees and taxes which may vary (e.g. 0.04% to 0.4% maker fees, 0.1% to 0.4% taker fees, etc.). I won't really go into detail with this.

Anyways, there you have it. A quick and easy explanation. When I was trying to find information after getting my card, I never saw it explicitly stated anywhere. Today, I showed my coworker that my top up was free and instant because I had figured out you needed to do it with a debit card just this morning. Yet, for some reason, they still charged him 3%. Turns out he has has BofA. I spoke with another redditor and he also confirmed it. My coworker is going to switch to local credit union anyways.

Food for thought: many seems to believe that CRO may charge for debit card top ups eventually. I imagine Visa
