Seen the film a couple of times now, definitely a fan. One new thing I noticed but haven’t seen discussed much is how the operator now has the ability to project himself inside of the modal at the beginning and the matrix as a whole. I don’t remember the exact words but inside of Neo’s modal, Bugs mentions the signal being patchy and asks Sequoia to switch to audio only which almost insinuates that she is able to see him there too and that this isn’t just something for the audience. I wonder if this was always something that was available throughout the story of the trilogy or something they developed within the 60 years. A nice touch if anything.

For my modal operator, I need the current location, rotation and scale of an object. To have it display values and to see how values change when the object is moved, I need the current transform of the object while being grabbed.

Problem is, while I have an object grabbed (G) and move it around, I can see the values change in the UI, however, when I access e.g. the location from script, it stays the same until I place it and grab it again. Translating it with the sliders yield the same result.

I tried updating the view layer beforehand, but that did not change anything either. I had a look at the delta transform, but this isn't the right thing.

So, where are those values stored and how can I access them? They have to be somewhere, else, one wouldn't see them change in the UI and the object wouldn't move in the view.

I am using Blender 2.82a on Ubuntu 18.04.

I'd like to put forth some speculation on how to make statements about properties of a system at a given time, typically forbidden by the uncertainty principle. More specifically, this paper (arXiv) states

"[This quantum ontology] employs a special (single framework) syntactical rule to construct meaningful quantum expressions"

I will argue that meaningful expressions can reference more than one framework if frameworks are associated with modal operators. Hence, we can recover statements about unobserved systems traditionally thought to be excluded by the uncertainty principle.

i) Quantum measurement

The mainstream formalism of quantum mechanics (QM) reports what we can expect to see when we observe some feature of a system. More specifically, if we know the quantum state of a system, |ψ>, we can write that state in terms of possible (but mutually exclusive) outcomes of observing the system, and derive the likelihood of each outcome occurring. E.g. We either observe Schrodinger's cat to be dead or alive when we open the box, so we can write down the quantum state

|ψ> = a|alive> + b|dead>

where |a|^2 and |b|^2 will give us the probability of finding the cat alive or dead respectively.

Only one of these outcomes will be observed, but the formalism is ambiguous about the status of the cat prior to observation.

ii) Uncertainty Principle

In QM, unlike in classical mechanics, there is an uncertainty principle that applies to some pairs of properties. A measurement of one observable will change the quantum state such that the status of a 2nd observable becomes uncertain. This is not due to an engineering limitation of observers, but rather is a fundamental feature of the formalism of QM. An example of such properties is the spin of an electron in the x and z directions. QM does not permit us to make statements like "The electron has spin-up in the x-direction and spin-down in the z direction".

ii) Histories

By considering a quantum state at different times and stitching them together, we can reformulate QM to report possible histories of a property of a system, rather than outcomes of observing the system (First carried out by Feynmann, Gell-Mann, Hartle, Omnes et al). E.g. In the case of Schrodinger's cat, we can replace the alternative measurement outcomes |alive> and |dead> with alternative histories:

This is an interesting claim but I don't know enough logic to verify it (see if you can understand that paper this article links to). So does this mean it is possible to do things like compute 1/3 of the algorithm for addition?

Consider a simple first-order expression prefixed by a modal operator, for example: □∃x(Fx) (Just in case I screwed up the formatting: Necessarily, there is at least one x such that Fx.)

Consider that the predicate F lacks a truth-value, for instance because it is a purely fictional term that doesn't fall into the scope of an appropriate fictional operator.

Since the necessity operator is an intensional operator: does the whole expression have a truth-value? I'm inclined to say yes but would appreciate any input or recommendations for further reading!

I saw The Matrix Resurrections in IMAX when it came out and found myself baffled by a lot of creative decisions made by Lana and her team. The whole movie has a slapdash quality to it and a lot of the fault lies with its sloppy, low-stakes script. Yesterday, I watched the movie again with a friend on HBO Max and decided to keep a running list of questions I still had on this second viewing….

1. Why does the Operator say that the modal feels like a trap during the intro? Didn’t Keanu program it? Who’s using it as a trap?
2. Why does Agent Morpheus have a daily life? Is the implication that agents in the original trilogy basically functioned as normal government agents most of the time?
3. Why did The Analyst allow WB to push for a sequel to The Matrix games? Didn’t he know it could trigger Neo to reawaken?
4. What caused the explosion in the Deus Machina hallway?
5. How did Neo arrive at The Analyst’s house after being executed by Smith? Is he unable to die? What did Smith see when he pulled the trigger?
6. Why did Keanu need someone else to free Morpheus?
7. Why is the game footage being projected look like live-action video? Why not just make Neo a movie star in this new version of the Matrix?
8. If it’s been 60 years, why would anyone assume Neo was alive at all? Wouldn’t he be like 90 years old?
9. How come nobody takes pills with water in this movie?
10. Why did the mirror open a portal to The Analyst’s house?
11. Why is Bugs wearing so much makeup in the real world? How do they have makeup?
12. Nu-Morpheus is supposed to be a combination of Morpheus and Smith, but besides him being an agent in the modal, how is his personality like Smith’s in any way?
13. Neo says none of what he did mattered. Isn’t he right? The Matrix is still running, the humans stopped freeing minds, and human-machine peace didn’t last.
14. How is Marble Morpheus able to move outside of the device that generates the magnetic field?
15. What benefit to the story is there to having a 60-year time jump versus a 20-year one?
16. Niobe freed Bugs but she’s almost 90. Bugs looks the same age as a window washer as she is in the movie. Why was Niobe in the Matrix freeing souls into her 80s? Wouldn’t that be extremely risky since she’s the leader of Io?

I'm using a bootstrap modal to house an input operation (taking a picture from device camera and processing it). I'd like to have the modal close automatically upon completion of the processing but can't seem to get it to close with the standard suggestion of using jQuery $('#myModal').modal('hide'). Any ideas on how I can do this without having to click a button? Is it because the modal('hide') is sitting in code block?

Greetings friendly friends, I am fan editing Resurrections so it’s a real Matrix movie. Too many changes to mention all of them but now the Matrix will be green, and all the meta comedy has been exiled. Various scenes have been trimmed to end on more powerful moments. A new ending and new mid credits scene show the nature of the Matrix to be much different now.

The new run time of De_meta_eD is right at 2 hours, removing nearly half an hour of rubbish. And once released make sure to wait for the new mid-credits scene. It does away with the convoluted explanation of why and how Neo and Trinity were resurrected.

All that’s left now is the colour correction, which is currently being done clip by clip with professional tools, effects, masking, skin tone mapping, and motion tracking techniques. What I will NOT do is slap a green filter over the entire movie and call it a day, which would give faces and hair a heavy handed green tint. This part will take a while but I’ll post some samples soon.

Spoiler warning for the info below.

It was clear the director, Lana Warchowski, hated making this movie. The meta commentary about the Matrix movies or games or whatever is now gone.

So Thomas’ game is not called the Matrix anymore. There is not a trilogy of Matrix games. WB is not mentioned, and the Matrix movie is not projected onto a theatre screen and called a game. I left some hints the director put in about how she didn’t want to continue the story but I didn’t allow it to become a full blown mockumentary.

The whole modal plot has been cleaned up without all the fangirling from Bugs and without Morpheus laughing and being weird.

Speaking of Morpheus acting weird, quirky is not the new interesting! In a few scenes some of Bug’s dialogue to Morpheus and Neo is cut back

I suppose I should start by saying that the movie fully explains this and knowledge of the original movies just strengthen it. But other than that, let's take it from the top:

1. 60 years have passed since the events of Matrix Revolutions. In that time frame, Neo and Trinity were resurrected. Around 40 years pass before they are successfully fully resurrected and in their pods in the Anomaleum. The machines went through an expensive (the cost is time and energy, their primary resources) and extensive process to do so. Neo and Trinity spend just 20 of those 60 years reinserted into The Matrix. This is why they've only aged 20 years compared to a peer like Niobe who has aged the full 60 years.
2. Most, almost all, humans have not looked for Neo in that 60 year period. If they had searched for the next 40 years, there was absolutely nothing to find as Neo and Trinity were still being resurrected and experimented upon before making the new version of The Matrix. Morpheus would not have looked for him either. Neo said goodbye to Morpheus and told him "It was an honor" to have served with him. Morpheus replies the honor was all his. Morpheus was fully aware that Neo was not coming back, his teary eyes at the end of Revolutions displayed that he fully appreciated Neo's sacrificial act.
3. Bugs is hellbent on finding Neo because she saw him attempt to leap before she was unplugged, causing Neo's DSI to revert to his RSI as he attempted to break free. She SAW Neo, the real Neo. This broke her concept of reality and paved the way for her to eventually take the red pill, a rarity for those living within The Matrix in her time. Then she learned the story of Neo like it was her bible. She knows the fuck out of the story and she was absolutely certain that who she saw was the savior of her people, returned. So, she (when nearly no one else) searched for Neo....eventually finding the modal he set up for anyone who may be searching for him. To put it simply, she believed. But to most of the rest of the humans, she's akin to someone who claims they saw Jesus in the desert hills.
4. Humans did search every single Thomas Anderson they could find and they CONTINUALLY watched Deus Machina (the game developer) and the Thomas Anderson that worked there. I believe the term they used was "kept tabs on" the company. What they needed was a sign that Neo was actually there and they didn't risk their lives or cover for some random old bald guy. Hi all! I regularly see posts from folks not able to find therapists taking new patients and wanted to share some tips.

1. Go to this site: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us. Filter by location + your age + your insurance company. If you only want a female therapist, for instance, you can filter by that as well. There is the option to filter by issue, but I personally have not found that filter helpful.
2. Browse the list of people and only look at the therapists who say they are accepting new patients. This part is key.
3. Once you have your collection of therapists that deal with the issues you want to address, who appear to be taking new patients, go to their websites to see if there is any additional info to learn. Their website will help you get a sense of their approach + personality. Sometimes their website might indicate that they are not accepting new patients.
4. Often there is a form on the website to request an initial consult- use that. If there is not a form, you can contact them directly through the Psychology Today website.
5. When you do reach out to the therapist, include the type of insurance you have. If you have OHP, clarify which type of OHP you have. You don't need to include your entire story, but if you are specifically looking to work with someone on your anxiety, include that. This helps save time, as if they no longer accept your insurance, they can tell you right away. Also: If you make a generic intro message to copy/paste for each of the therapists, as suggested from a redditor in the comments, this won't take very long!
6. Contact at least 5-10 therapists initially. When I do this, I hear back from most of them within 2 days.
7. Once you hear back from a few therapists, if you like the sound of them, schedule initial consults. The way you do this may change based on your insurance, but I like to only schedule one at a time, with the understanding that I may not choose to go with that therapist after the initial meeting if it doesn't feel like a good fit.
8. Don't be afraid to do an initial interview with therapists that you are interested in- many therapists can schedule a phone call to chat with you about your goals + you can ask about their approach and experience.

Dear RIT Community,

From the start of this COVID-19 pandemic, our community — students, faculty, and staff — have faced adversity and personal disruption. Yet, you all have responded with unparalleled resolve and resilience. You have diligently followed our rules and guidelines, which has kept our community safe. As Omicron variant cases are rising around us, we are preparing for a new chapter. We remain committed to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for Spring Semester.

We are living in a dynamic and fluid situation. We understand there will be challenges in the coming weeks. We know there will be inevitable increases in the numbers of COVID-19 cases on campus. Yet perhaps most important, we have tools today we did not have a year ago. We are deploying our contingency plans and will continue to adjust our policies and practices as new information becomes available and circumstances dictate.

Let me reiterate some of the highlights outlined in Wednesday’s announcement.

· We remain committed to an in-person start of the Spring Semester on Monday, Jan. 10th.

· We highly recommend getting a COVID-19 test before returning to campus.

· We now are requiring a booster vaccine.

· We will continue the indoor face mask mandate and strongly encourage the doubling up of surgical and cloth masks and the use of KN95 masks. We have a plentiful supply of surgical masks on hand and are procuring KN95s.

I think a lot of people didn't have high expectations for this movie, so it's not very surprising that the movie is as bad as it is. Still, it managed to be disappointing, probably because in spite of itself, it showed specks of a story worth telling. Unfortunately, those specks were buried within the convoluted husk of nonsense, stupidity, and confusion.

Since the movie is out for everyone to see, here are some of its issues, big and small [Beware, there be SPOILERS AHEAD]:

1. SMITH IS BACK. F*** that. This dude was killed twice (or more if you count all the clones) in the original trilogy, yet he's somehow STILL alive, and not only that, but he's still attempting to wax poetic about his still sticking around somehow. How is he alive? WHY is he alive? Wasn't the point of Revolutions's climax that Smith was an extreme problem for the machines, the Matrix, and freed people alike? Wasn't Smith, even by machine standards, so evil and crazed that the machines agreed to help Neo take him down? And now that the Matrix is in its next version, he's still there? HOW? Why would the machines keep him? They literally purged old programs, or at least attempted to, yet Smith is chilling as Neo's boss? Why would he even play this role when he's later revealed to be his same old self?

Real world reasons aside, why does he have a different face? If you couldn't get Hugo, why put Smith in the movie. SMITH DIED. And, to add serious insult to injury, Smith calls Neo "Tom" all throughout this movie, instead of Mr. Anderson. WHAT. That's part of what made Weaving's portrayal of the character iconic. If you're taking away such an integral part of the character, then why bother pretending like it's the same character? Oh, and the CGI for him dodging bullets looked disgustingly bad.

Anyway, we'll get back to more Smith garbage later.

STAG industrial is a Real Estate Investment Trust focused on the rental of single tenant warehouses and offices. STAG primarily focuses on the development of warehouses. STAG is well diversified geographically with their top 10 cities comprising 46% of their portfolio. More importantly STAG is diversified well across different companies and different sectors. Big names such as Amazon (3.8%) FedEx (1%) Ford (.7%) Costco (.7%) within their top ten, Amazon being their biggest renter.

The demand for industrial real estate has only grown as our economy demands for more online shopping and large facilities required to hold/produce large amounts of products. This is the third thread in a series evaluating popular arguments for the existence of God. The first thread was on the argument from fine-tuning, the second was on the Kalam cosmological argument (by u/Philosophy_Cosmology). This thread will consider the ontological and modal ontological argument, and show that they cannot be said to successfully establish the existence of God.

The ontological argument

The ontological argument attempts to reason from God's definition or essence as a maximally great/perfect being or being possessing every perfection, to God's existence. The argument is typically credited to St. Anselm, but since Anselm offers it in the context of a prayer (in his Proslogion) rather than a rigorous argument, its usually better to focus on later formulations, such as the ones by Descartes or Kant, or later apologists (which are also more stream-lined and easy to follow than Anselm's formulation).

So, the argument can be stated fairly simply:

1. God, by definition, has every perfection
2. existence is a perfection

Conclusion: Therefore, God exists.

Now, in first-order predicate logic (FOPL), from these two premises we can derive the following proposition:

i.) (∀x)(x is God-> x exists)

(i.e. for any x, if x is God then x exists)

The problem is that this does not say that God exists, that there is any such x. It only says that, if there is an x such that x=God, then x exists. From 1. and 2. we cannot derive the proposition:

ii.) (∃x)(x is God & x exists)

(i.e. there is an x such that x is God and x exists)

Neither premise satisfies the rule for existential introduction in FOPL, so this existential statement does not follow from 1. and 2.. But this is the proposition the ontological argument seeks to prove, i.e. that God does in fact exist. In order to logically derive ii.) we would need to introduce an additional premise to the effect that there is such an x, or that there is individual who is = God. But this would be equivalent to the conclusion, and plainly question-begging: we cannot assume that there is an x such that x is God, if we seek to prove that there is an x such that x is God.

So now the problem is clear: the desired conclusion is ii.), that God does in fact exist. But this does not

I am a IT rookie here and also an e-commerce business operator. I am looking for a way to host the Windows accounting software for the e-commerce business I am using to the cloud because I have a strong need to access it remotely. The software's publishing company itself do provide a cloud solution but I find it not worthy.
