A list of puns related to "Minatory"
The word โMinatoryโ means to convey threat. And it suits the name of the genre. The genre was made up by a specific group of people in 2014, under the now discontinued label โplague bornโ. The founder of the label was a producer known as โAtomizeโ who formally made deathstep. Members consisted of Moth, Osiris, Kretan and Cretin, Who pretty much structured the genre. The stuff they produced wasnโt exactly deathstep. It was more of an experimental subgenre derived from deathstep. So they wanted a name for the genre. Cretin came up with the name โHellcoreโ. But they didnโt stick with it. Moth was drunk one night and discovered the word on the internet. But the next morning he couldnโt remember it. Luckily he still had his browsing history, and found the word โMinatoryโ. Other mainstream producers who experimented with the genre consist of Influx, Venom, Kretery, Dead Cowboy, Punishment, Poison, etc. Now a days, Minatory is really just an experimental genre, that revolves around atmosphere and very harsh noises. Deathstep is technically just dubstep but with heavier less conventional sound design. Structure wise, deathstep is dubstep. But aims for sounding like a metal song. Post minatory, or old school minatory is just derived from deathstep. Which is why it can sometimes be referred to as โminatory deathstepโ Because a song can consist of both deathstep and minatory elements. Which is why the lines can be pretty blurry. For example. Skrillex is dubstep. Code pandorum is deathstep. Dead Cowboy is minatory. And Swine Rot is Minatory Deathstep. Minatory is technically experimental deathstep with grindcore structure. And minatory deathstep is just minatory sound design but with deathstep structure. So in simple words. Minatory is just harsh experimental noise and crunchy textures with atmospheric and ambient elements. Another good example of minatory is dispirited. His newer tracks like ambivalent is a great example of minatory. Crunchy bass, and Experimental atmosphere. It can also be known as sludge. Because of its intentional muddy mix. Another good example of minatory deathstep is kranary. Crunchy bass, Atmosphere, And deathstep structure. There are a few other sub genres of minatory such as โdungeonโ, โsludgeโ, โhellcoreโ, or post minatoryโ, which is just old school minatory. And some dsbm minatory, which is basically just experiential minatory, mainly produced by influx. Good examples of the purest minatory consist of โKretan - godless (moth&atomize

Minatory (adj.)
menacing; threatening.
I'm juuust recently discovering this whole deathstep genre, and I like it a lot. I've heard some of it incorporating metalcore/deathcore elements, but I'm wondering if there's a more "pure" metal sound for those who aren't as into core-influenced metal. I really want to hear it and I would consider making it myself but it'd be a lot easier if someone else is already doing it :)
