A list of puns related to "Mawlid"
Full disclosure: non Muslim, just an interested lurker.
Will you celebrate the birthday of Muhammad?
Mawlid was a holiday I used to observe as a Muslim, a day to celebrate Muhammad and his example to all Muslims. A happy birthday celebration. Yet, it was myth and fabrication.
What a bittersweet holiday it is. This is a day to think of the person you wish you could celebrate, idolize even, but simply cannot. Reflecting on a person, who in reality, cannot live up to the saintly image they were given.
This is a holiday of hope and love for Muslims, but one of mourning for me. This is a solemn day.
Woe for the one who has learned the pain of life and the imperfection of all who live it.
No myth made, no matter how beautiful can reconcile with me the reality of who Muhammad was. To celebrate him as a model for all humanity, in all his actions, is something I cannot do.
I used to wish I could believe in the Muhammad that progressive Islam has put forth, yet my conscience would not allow me to deceive myself.
This should be a day to realize even Muhammad was not perfect, no matter the good one thinks he gave to the world. A day to realize that Islam is imperfect. A day to realize that no one should follow anyone or anything without question.
I only wish it was a true birthday celebration, I can celebrate the birth and life of MLK and realize he was a serial adulterer. I can celebrate the birth of US presidents without glossing over their sins. So why should it be blasphemous to recognize the same in Muhammad and Islam?
What is the Progressive Islam stance on Mawlid, do you celebrate it or regard it as Bid'ah(Innovation)?
Hello! Is tourism affected by Moulood / Mawlid celebrations in Egypt? E.g: will museums / restaurants / sites be open or are there any restrictions? Thank you!
Hi!
Next week is the holiday Mawlid, and I want to send a greeting in Arabic. Can anyone please help me translate " βMay the occasion of Mawlid Al-Nabi bring along joys and prosperity for you and your loved ones. Warm wishes on this special occasion" into Arabic?
Thank you so much!
