A list of puns related to "Lutheran Church"
This is just a friendly reminder that there are worse things out there than catholic memes in the religious fruitcake aisle.
While it may be very easy to pick content from other subs to cross post here, there are other places, events, and people that could stand to be scrutinized more thoroughly.
Hi! I am attempting to navigate my way out of the LCMS (in super deep, pastor's kid, graduated from and worked at a Concordia) finally! Now I have no idea where to go. ELCA seemed like a logical choice, because I (probably) still agree with pieces of Lutheran theology, but I wouldn't want to put myself in a place that seemed to similar to my source of trauma.
So where did you end up? What's been helpful for you to get there? Would you recommend it?
Thanks for the community so far. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.
Dear r/NewOrleans,
Bethlehem Lutheran Church needs your help to build ADA-accessible affordable housing in Central City.
Many of you know us from our Community Table Free Meal Program, which provides free, no-questions-asked meals, every Wednesday and Saturday at noon. Since the start of the pandemic, we've served over 45,000 free meals to our community. Every day that I stand outside, I talk to neighbors suffering from ridiculous housing prices, illegal evictions, and horrific living conditions. Y'all know this because you're living it, or you care about people who are.
Now we're reaching out to ask for help to build the first of four affordable townhouses we're constructing on the formerly empty lot across from the church.
There are a lot more details about scope and partners and all of that on the GoFundMe page, and I'm also happy to answer any questions!
Our community and culture cannot survive without affordable housing. Can you upvote this post, visit our GoFundMe at https://gofund.me/6a3ebbd6 to learn the details, and then give $20 today to build this house?
Thank you!
Sorry for a Amero centric poll but many of the European Lutheran churches seem very similar theologically compared to in America
Are the antisemitic writings from Martin Luther still around, or has the Lutheran Church recanted them?
(Not asking to be unpolite but i learnt about it recently)
Hello their brothers, I am curious, just uhm ya, that question above. I have tried to pray to God for forgiveness for my many sins, but I have not felt forgiven, so idk if I should go to a priest about it, and go to a confessional.
I will do my best to summarize the situation as a quickly and efficiently as I can.
Late last year in 2020 the First Lutheran Church noticed that bricks of their bell tower were beginning to become loose.
They received an engineering report essentially saying they need to do immediate repairs and stabilization that would cost in the neighborhood of 3 million dollars.
The church was onboard with demo, but an organization called, βSave the the Bell Tower Cincinnatiβ stepped in - and attempted to save the bell tower.
The organization raises private and public donations through grants, fund drives, and public donations through the church website. All of that money was intended to go toward saving the bell tower and if the bell tower could not be saved then the money raised would go towards other church projects.
The church was unable to allocate the initial funds at first for the first engineering report..
But here is the kicker, the save the bell tower Cincinnati group discussed how they received an alternative engineering report that would save the historic bell tower - and essentially all required funds were raised - but the church leadership voted to decline this alternative route and proceed with demo and keep the funds that were raised to save the tower.
There has been no mention of how people who donated will receive their money back (and Iβm not sure how feasible it would be anyway) for this and the church has declined to respond to inquires regarding this.
Any local Cincinnati journalists here are the pastor and church organization emails if you want to follow with your own inquiries.

Hi I'm a Pentecostal Christian who's currently exploring Lutheranism. I understand that the Augsburg Confession is the primary confession of faith in the Lutheran Church, and I also found out that before the composition of the Book of Concord some Lutheran Churches subscribed to a certain "Body of Doctrine" (Latin: Corpus doctrinae). As I was searching for the History of the Book of Concord on [ https://bookofconcord.org/introductory-materials/historical-introductions/the-book-of-concord ] I came across the part where it mentions "The Corpus Doctrinae Thuringicum in Ducal Saxony of 1570" which contains The Three Ecumenical Creeds, The Smalcald Articles, Luther's Catechisms, and as well as other important Lutheran writings; however, the Augsburg Confession was not mentioned on the list of their doctrinal statements. So I was wondering if you guys know any Lutheran Church that holds the same position regarding the Augsburg Confession to this day.
< Sorry for my terrible english I'm not a native english speaker, I hope you guys understand. God bless you guys and thank you for your response! >
