A list of puns related to "Lime Scale"
I'm trying to avoid calling a plumber for this, but will if I have to.
I have a bath faucet (Kingston Brass single spout) that had the cartridge fail. It was leaking from the base, and I've made identical fixes before, so got the parts and was ready to make the repair. However, it must have been a slow leak for some time inside. When I got the handle off (which was a pain as it was then I found out the set screw was corroded, yay) I saw the extent of the lime scale. It was more blue-green than nickel.

I soaked it all in vinegar overnight, hit it with a little CLR on a Q-tip and got most of it off. However the retaining ring/nut on the dome is still frozen. That means I can't access the cartridge. I have tried every tool I have. Channel lock pliers, vise grips, crescent wrench, basin wrench, and strap wrench. No bueno. I made a nice dent in the dome for my efforts. I can't get at the hex nut due to the shape of the dome, though I did try.
I'm ready to get out my Sawz-all and cut that faucet off at the base and put in a new one, except it would be $200+ to get a new one, or I'd need to replace the pair (there is second sink in the bathroom) of faucets for near the same amount. Ugh. At that price is worth the expertise of a plumber.
Any ideas that might help? If I'm SOL, is this something a plumber might be able to get at/fix? Or should I start faucet shopping and sharpening my saws?
Mini Bugout (with black blade, black hardware, blue standoffs, blue thumbstud, and extra scales)
SV: $105 $94.50 SOLD
This is a mini bugout with the black blade. It has been carried and used a bit. Some of the hardware has been swapped out. It now has lime green scales (nI don't remember where from), a blue thumbstud, and blue standoffs. It comes with an extra set of scales that are a very dark reddish/maroon color -- almost blackish. There are some scuffs on the clip and some minor scratches on the blade, near the tip. I have tightened it up a bit so there is basically no blade play, but it is not drop-shutty right now. Loosen it a tad and it will drop shut, but gain a bit of blade play. I think that covers everything.
Selling because I am no longer a fan of black blades. Not sure why I tried again. π€·ββοΈ
Iβve had enough. My housemate is always doing annoying things without telling me but this has got to be the worst. I made myself a cup of lemon tea and when I took a sip of it, I had the shock of my life when it tasted extremely sharp.
I threw it out and made a ginger tea, but it tasted the same. I decided to try some of the water from just the kettle and realised that it wasnβt water. I then found an empty packet of lime scale removed in the bin. It says it only contains citric acid, so Iβm hoping that itβs not dangerous. Iβm absolutely furious
Edit: it also contains sodium sulfate. The internet makes it seem like itβs not toxic but does anyone actually know??
I am new around here and I am wondering if there are practices to keep the lime scale from the water from befouling everything it touches? Like my coffee pot or the edge of the faucet handle where it builds up.
Hi all,
I've had this potted lime tree for about 6 years (the last four in the Pacific Northwest), it has recently experienced a pretty severe episode of leaf drop (about 1/3 of its leaves and fruit drop), and would appreciate the community's thoughts on overwatering, underwatering, nutrient issue or something else. Some of the leaves that drop are yellowed, some are still green (but don't look great).
Pictures are included if you want to skip to, but here are are some details:
It lives indoors in a western facing room in the late fall, winter and early spring (with opportunistic outside time outside when the weather cooperates), and then lives outside once nightly temperatures get above about 55 degrees. The outside space is also westerly facing and gets great sun from early morning through sunset.

I typically water in the morning and give it about 1/3 of a gallon of water daily or every other day (whether inside or outside, winter or summer, this has been pretty successful for the last several years).
I've used a miracle grow (or similar brand) of potted soil for the last six years (the one that comes in the blue bag at home improvement stores). I replace the soil every six months or so (as the directions on the bag suggest). We are about 4 months into the current bag. Drainage has been great. Over the last year I started using a fertilzer specifically marketed for use with citrus plants. I've added fertilizer every 3-4 months.
As detailed below, there are several potentially confounding variables, so would appreciate folks' thoughts!
There are several variables.
I began leaving the lime tree outside overnight during an early warm spell, but over the last several months the weather has bounced between cooler temps at night (high 40s to low 50s) and with highs in the low to mid sixties (I would normally move the tree inside during this weather, but recently had knee surgery). More recently the temperature has been high 50s to low 60s at night and 75+ during the day.
due to the knee surgery and the fact that the soil has been damp in the mornings, my watering schedule has been thrown off. Sometimes I water every day, sometimes every third-ish day.

Hello everyone
So my kaffir lime is infested by scale (hate hate hate them!) and I have been killing them by hand for weeks. I have been able to control their numbers this way but I went on holiday for 3 weeks and the situation got out of control again.
I feel reluctant to spray my poor pal with lost of soap or other chemicals but ... have any of you actually eradicated scale by hand? I know if you miss one tiny scale then they can quickly repopulate.
I donβt know whether I have no choice but to act aggressively and get a spray. Have any of you managed to eradicate them with spray? I only want to use a spray if it will definitely work
Thank you thank you
-SOLD-Got an Atom up for grabs. Has been used a little, mostly boxes. Great condition, great action. And the Peacock GCarta scales($100 value) that come installed are new condition, straight from TRM. Plus an extra set of the lime green G-10 scales that were never installed. If you've been looking for one, here ya go! Great knife! Not looking for trades or selling scales separate, this is a package deal.
