A list of puns related to "Lateran Treaty"
Am I celebrating? Do I see this as a watershed moment and a victory for the Catholic Church?
Or is this just some symbolic political gesture that doesn't really interest me? My priest seems super excited about, but it doesn't really affect me in any tangible way.
Do my opinions depend on where I live? And if I'm Italian, how much do my thoughts on the matter depend on my politics?
This is a truly historic day, not only for Italy, but all of the Catholic world. On this day, February the 11th, in the year of our Lord 1929, Prime Minister and Head of Government of the Kingdom of Italy Benito Mussolini, and Secretary of State of the Papal States His Most Reverend Eminence the Lord Cardinal Pietro Gasparri have met in the Lateran Palace, signing the Lateran Treaty of 1929. With this treaty, the Roman question has finally ended, with the Kingdom of Italy recognizing the sovereignty of His Holiness over Vatican City, and His Holiness recognizing the holdings of the Kingdom of Italy. In addition, the Kingdom of Italy agrees to pay the Pontif with a indemity of 750,000,000 Lire, along with issuing them bonds with a rate of 5% for a total of 1,000,000,000 Lire. The full text of the treaty can be viewed here
So since the Pope has the Papal States, and Mussolini isnβt the Prime Minister of a united Italy in 1936, the Lateran Treaty was not formulated or probably even considered. However, should one of the Italian states unify Italy (the SRI, Republic, Sicily or Sardinia), this would require them to annex the Papal States.
Would we go back to a βprisoner in the Vaticanβ sort of thing? Wouldnβt the conqueror at least try to remedy the solution? Ok, maybe not the National Syndicalists, but the Christian Socialists of the SRI would, and the others DEFINITELY would try and work things out with the Pope in order to avoid massive civil unrest.
Also can we pls have an option to unite all Catholic countries and the Holy Land under the Papal States as the Kingdom of Heaven/God/Jerusalem?
I was trying to find information on extradition laws and policies for Vatican City and all I could find was the Lateran Treaty. So, please, explain to me The Lateran Treaty like I'm five.
So I just saw the relgion map of the CAS on r/imaginarymaps (that's also how I discovered this interesting project!) and it made me wonder: How does the Papacy look like in this timeline? I could imagine that the Lateran Treaty is the same as in OTL, but I couldn't find a real answer in the subreddit, hence the question
Plus seeing that a majority of the CAS actually is Roman Catholic how much "power" would the church or individual Bishops have? I guess the CAS is a secular state, but I am still curious if there are/were some background shenanigans going on.
##Overview
Due to the collapse of the Consitutional Arch in 1951, the Italian Constitution would be passed by the uneasy cooperation of Christian Democracy (CD) & the Italian Patriotic Front (IPF) on May 12th, 1952. The Italian constitution outlines the role & powers of the Italian government and the relation of the Italian citizen to itself.
###Preamble
The Head of State, by virtue of the deliberations of the Constituent Assembly, which in the session of 12 May 1952 approved the Constitution of the Italian Republic; by virtue of Final Provision XVIII of the Constitution; promulgates the Constitution of the Italian Republic in the following text:
###The Fundamental Principles
The Fundamental Principles declare the foundations on which the Republic is established, starting with its democratic nature, in which the sovereignty belongs to the people and is exercised by the people in the forms and within the limits of the Constitution. The Principles recognize the dignity of the person, both as an individual and in social groups, expressing the notions of solidarity and equality without distinction of sex, race, religion, political opinion, personal and social conditions. For this purpose, the right to serve is also recognized, with labor considered the foundation of the Republic and a means to achieve individual and social development: every citizen has a duty to contribute to the development of the society, as much as they can.
The Principles recognize the territorial integrity of the Republic. They also promote scientific, technical, and cultural development, and safeguard the environmental, historical, and artistic heritage of the nation.
###The Role of the Church
The State and the Catholic Church are recognized as independent and sovereign, each within its own sphere. Freedom of Religion is also recognized, with all religions having the right of self-organization, as long as they don't conflict with the law, and the possibility to establish a relationship with the State through agreements. In particular, Article 7 recognizes the Lateran Treaty of 1929, which gave a special status to the Catholic Church, and allows modification to such treaty without the need for constitutional amendments.
###The Flag
The last of the Principles establishes the Italian tricolor as the flag of Italy: green, white, and red, in three vertical bands of e

In a sense, the spring was the closing phase of a long diplomatic drama. The latest phase, after the United States made unofficial contact with the Assad regime this past winter, involved an effort by the American ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, to arrange private negotiations with her Syrian counterpart, Bassam Sabbagh. It was the first direct communiquΓ© between the two nations in over a decade.
Ambasssadors Thomas-Greenfield and Sabbagh met with United Nations officials, planning to rescind unilateral sanctions on the Assad family in exchange for the safe return of two American hostages believed to be held in Syria. A disagreement on additional economic relief and when it would be applied threatened to derail further progress.
At the last minute, the Holy See Nuncio in Washington notified its UN observer mission of the opportunity to mediate between the two adversaries with the explicit goal of securing information and, hopefully, the release of five additional hostages known by the Vatican to be missing since the Arab Spring sparked the brutal civil war.
When that effort succeeded, the United States agreed to maintain a course toward lifting sanctions, if the Syrian government completed a good faith effort to connect the hostages with papal representatives carrying family messages. The ambassadors agreed that even in wartime, the Syrian leadership would operationally support efforts to release or rescue hostagesβand in the worst caseβto repatriate remains through the Archbishop of the Syriac Catholic Church in Damascus.

At the headquarters of the General Intelligence Directorate, the Archbishop and the Nuncio Amman First Political Secretary were invited to a private breakfast with General Ali Mamlouk, a close confidant of the President Bashar Al-Assad family.
The First Secretary noted the importance of the breakfast for two reasons: It demonstrated how isolated the Syrian leadership had become from its powerful n

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
The nurse asked the rabbit, βwhat is your blood type?β
βI am probably a type Oβ said the rabbit.
The doctor says it terminal.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
