A list of puns related to "Landscape Architecture"
Hi all,
Little backstory if you care to read.
I have an unrelated BA in pre-law and I quickly discovered it's not what I was passionate about after a year of law school/working as a paralegal. So, I did what any responsibly rational 22 year old would do after being burned out in a law office - I left for lunch and never came back. From there I spontaneously moved down to Florida completely lost. While taking photos one night I ran into a guy taking photos of a store front with a tilt shift lens (which I've never seen before) started shooting the shit. Turns out he was a well known architectural photographer in the area and ironically was looking for an assistant. So, I spent the next three years helping him run his business while polishing my skills as an interior and architectural photographer. From there I decided it was the perfect mix of creativity and challenge and pursed it as a career. At 25 I moved back to New York and started my own photography business using the connections from Florida. I was able to land a contract with Sotheby's and spent a few years shooting ultra high end properties across long island. Slowly, I began to work for more architects, designers, contractors etc. What I did not expect was to fall in love with their work and begin to respect and become fascinated with the professional as a whole.
Now at 29 I have been exploring options to return to school for landscape architecture. Yes, I know the information is prevalent with a simple google search but why not ask those in the profession directly. I'm looking to attend CCNY and have begun putting together my application package which will mostly consist of my photography. I have been published numerous times and have shot some notable projects I've also had work displayed in the Sotheby's auction house.
Even so, I'm a little worry-some its not enough and looking for some more tips for admission. I am highly proficient in the adobe creative suite and have been teaching my self auto-cad which I've become fairly proficient at. Also worried about entering and obtaining an entry level at in my 30's. I expect to take a significant cut in pay pursing this profession especially entering at an older age but thats not why I'm seeking to enter the field. Curious if anyone were willing to share salaries alongside their experience and expertise to paint a better picture. Furthermore - if any of you are in the NYC / Long Island area and would like some photography of any projects
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi. I am an aspired anthropologist with a line of interest in urban anthropology. My deepest curiosity has always lain between people & space (natural or built environment). My bachelor degree was in anthropology (social science) and I have a few years of working experience in research and public consultation about space and sites rejuvenation.
In a long run, I would like to pursue a path that connects anthropology and the built environment. However, I am lacking a knowledge foundation (and accreditation?) in the latter aspect. Hence, the desire to pursue a master in either architecture, landscape architecture or urban planning. I'm personally more keen on urban planning.
Hereby, I would like to seek advice from anyone's here if this plan is feasible or a suggestion on how I shall approach this.
Thanks in advance and happy new year. :)
ideally somewhat related to the real built environment, not the metaverse or whatever you want to call it

I know it differs according to province, but I have searched so many websites about council, orders, universities and I cannot get a clear answer! I'm trying to apply to the one that doesnt take a lot of time but is also accreded (to work in) (im currently trying to transfer programs from another country/uni)
Hi everybody.
I'm going to apply for landscape architecture (5 years) at university in Norway starting autumn. I don't have experience with landscape architecture but I do have a little experience with drawing and photoshop. Do you have any tips on what I could do to practice? Something that worked for you?
Thanks in advance
I'm planning to apply for Bachelor of Environmental Design and major in landscape architecture. The university site says there is no Math requirement and since I did do any math subjects I don't remember much. I know landscape architecture has math in it but since the university says it is not a requirement, does the university teach from the beginning or should we have some prior knowledge?
Thank you in advance!
Ive been looking into getting a landscape architecture minor. If anyone here has one or is getting one, I would like to know what it entails basically. Is the course work hard or time-consuming? What should I expect? Thanks for any help!
Traveling to Dallas. What are some good places to see that exemplify good Landscape design, urban design etc. in the Dallas area that is open to the public?
I am currently a sophomore landscape architect student. All of my projects have been on residential or public sites such as a plaza, small park, etc. I think in the coming years classes do also focus on larger scale projects.
I have fun doing all of the projects and I really enjoy my classes, specifically the ArcGIS and ecology classes I am taking. I really want to work on preservation of natural landscapes. Is landscape architecture the right field for this? I remember my professor saying the NPS is one of the largest employers of landscape architects in the country, but is that true? Is working in national parks or large scale natural landscapes such as that viable as an LA? Any insight or help is much appreciated.
Hey all,
I'm pretty new to modding skyrim. I played it like 10 years ago on xbox 360 and want to give it another shot now on Xbox series X with game pass (skyrim se).
I'm trying to get into this topic for while now, also going through frequently recommended mods in the wiki here.
There's one thing, that keeps me wondering. Most xbox LOs I found videos for, and which looked pretty awesome, didn't use any of the heavyweight Landscape and Architecture Combos named in the FAQs here.
What I saw from Organic Skyrim combo e.g. is really really nice. So I'm trying to understand why it seems, that often there are a bunch of individual mods used instead of these heavyweight combos. What's the pros and cons there?
I'm still thinking about creating my own LO or just copy and adapt one of these
Would really appreciate any hints on what's the difference with these combos vs. other xbox LOs.
Thanks a lot
Hello! I'm currently a grade 11 student in high school and I stumbled upon Guelph's LA program and wanted to ask a couple of questions who knows/ is or was in the program since I don't know anyone who did:
My teachers say that our school has good relationships with the uni (Idk tho) Would my school also be a big factor to be accepted since it's competitive?
Sorry that was a bit long, but I'd be really grateful if you could help me out with this! :)
Do you think working conditions and pay in our industry would improve if workers began leaving honest Google reviews of the companies they work for?
Iβm currently a finance major because I have done really good with my investments although donβt want to do a career in it. Iβm not sure where to go but Iβve always been interested in design and love looking at houses and spend alot of time outside. Is there anything I should know that people donβt talk about within landscape architecture? Iβm just not sure what to do.
Hi everyone,
I'm (25 f) architect and I have a master degree in landscape architecture. I moved to Amsterdam recently, and I want to have a friend here. I'd like to pursue my study or work in Amsterdam. Anyone could help me with dutch is welcome as well! But I appreciate any other help! I'm open to talk and go out and discover the city!
Feel free to message me or commentβ¦
Hi everyone currently a graphic design major considering switching majors to landscape architecture.
Is it true that a landscape architect can do a graphic designers job but not vice versa?
There may be more graphic designer jobs, but Iβm pretty sure landscape architects make more money right?
Any other thoughts from yβall?
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anybody have experience with both fields or at least know people in either field that can give me an idea as to what the workload and pay are like?
From my understand LA is more focused on higher end stuff like parks, residential buildings, trails, public gardens etc and landscape design is more focused on residential gardens, working with individual homeowners rather than governments or larger development companies. Or am I off the mark?
And in terms of salary, just from googling it LAs make much more than LDs, but is there any kind of tradeoff there for less working hours or less stress? I understand LA jobs can often have pretty hectic work loads.
I'm looking at switching up my degree and my heart is telling me this is the area i want to pursure so I'm just trying to get a good understanding of what everything entails.
For reference - I don't have a professional artistic background but have always enjoyed drawing, painting etc (though don't do it as often as I should) and I really love gardening/plants. I also like the idea of being able to my bit for a more sustainable future in terms of designing and executing projects that are environmentally concious. I have a dodgy back but otherwise would be looking into landscaping as an initial entrypoint as I understand that having knowledge about what's required on the ground level when designing things is very important.
Cheers
a couple really stupid questions
how good do I have to be at drawingwhat math and sciences are the best to takewhat minors would be beneficial to takedo you have any regrets with your decision to become oneis there anything you wish you knew when you started out
any help at all would be appreciated!
edit: Just wanted to say thank you for answering my questions it was all very helpful advice!
Hi there!:-)
I am a MLA/ First year student and I would like to ask about your study experiences. We have to learn about a huge amount of plants, and we are having crazy exams in very short time periods. How did you manage to memorize so many latin names of different species ( annual, perennial, woodie and so..) ? For me it is a whole new world, i never studied so much about plants before. I am looking forward to hear about your experience, or if you have references, a useful website or book etc.
Thanks!(-:

Hi everyone, Iβm interested in the B.S in landscape architecture and Iβm wondering if any of yβall have any pros/cons/experiences/opinions about the program? Iβm open to private messaging as well!
I will try to keep this extremely short. Essentially I am doing process consulting for a relative who cannot work in their old office and will need to travel semi-regularly soon. For this reason, I need to convert their traditional workflow to a digital one and train them on how to do everything.
Current analog process:
Ideal future, digital process: ( HELP NEEDED )
Essentially I need advice constructing a new workflow. Specifically my questions are as follows:
Thank you for taking the time to help give me advice on this project.
I'm a senior in high school in CT right now and really want to go into landscape architecture, is the program any good ? How bad are the dorms for freshman? is it really as much of a party school as people say? How bad do the winters get? and is it LGBTQ friendly?
I am mostly a landscape and architecture photographer and recently decide to move away from HP5+ developed in Rodinal, to a different Film that I can develop with X-Tol. I've tried T-Max 100 and 400 so far (among some others) and I liked it, but I'd love to hear what you would recommend and what you use for your landscape/architecture work.
I am looking for something sharp, a small bit of grain and with a good tonal range. I also like contrast a lot, but I usually prefer to do that in post. And I also like using a red/yellow filter in my photography. I shoot both medium format and 35mm but I use 35mm more often cause I can scan it at home with my Plustek scanner.
Iβm 13 and in 8th grade and thinking about going into landscape architecture. When I get into high school what should I do or focus on to be able to pursue this career??

How is the landscape architecture major here? Is it difficult/heavy course load or work?
