A list of puns related to "Kismayo"
I am just curious so if anyone can answer these questions it is appreciated.
Can you drink tap water or do you boil you water or buy clean water like bottled water?
Is water connected to your house or do usually call for a boyaad / water truck?
Does water cut off frequently or once in a while?
Here in Burco, most homes have water pipes connected to their homes from water companies (some still use water trucks for their water needs) and it is safe to drink (sometimes it tastes a bit salty) and i've heard it causes dabar on kids not sure. Water rarely cuts off except when there's a major issue.
Hargeisa has a water problem but most homes use water trucks except a few homes who have water pipes coming from water companies. when i lived there generally water from water trucks (you trust) are clean to drink but water from water companies can't be trusted.

#Whistleblowers and Space Dreams, Cyber-assault on Kismayo
CNN (International) | Issued May 21st, 2041 - 12:00 | New York, Third American Republic
NEW YORK - A massive cyber-attack originating from the ADIR has rocked Kismayo Rocket Ltd, rendering much of the existing network inoperable in what EAF Intelligence is calling "the most dramatic attack in recent history". While a full operations report has yet to be released, CNN can report that during the early hours of the 21st of May (2041), ADIR intelligence appeared to have launched a significant cyber-operation in an effort to render certain Kismayo Rocket Ltd projects inoperable. The operation was rather immediately discovered as EAF/Kismayo engineers began noticing the changes to various kernels and important files immediately, as the programs being targeted where still in active development. As a result, this initiated an ADIR "Contingency" operation which led to a significant data-wipe within Kismayo.
This was then followed by a string of attempted and successful assassinations of various project-leads and scientists working for Kismayo Rocket Ltd. Approximately 6 Kismayo Figures including high level engineers, rocket scientists, and lead developers where assassinated by car-bomb, AKM, and other "acts of terror" which where later revealed to be an ADIR led plot. Between the assassinations and the actual data-wipe operation, a number of Kismayo Projects have now been put on a temporary hold (6 month delay IG time). Furthermore, a public leak revealing an in development/procurement phase Space-based HGV system was also revealed via what is presumed to be ADIR sources. Said program appears to have been the primary target of ADIR efforts, with it seeing a 6 month delay before production can begin (largely owing to the fact several key developers and their back-ups survived assassination attempts).
While no comment from the EAF has yet been made, it can only be imagined that current African relations have largely shattered as a result of this attack. CNN International is still waiting for comment from both the EAF and ADIR.
Joking aside, Kismayo Somalia is one of the most optimal places on the planet for launching objects into space. As space travel becomes more common, which it will, expect much more attention for Somalia. Turkey has already read the trends and that's why they are building the first spaceport in Somalia.
edit: (this article is one of several he has on his blog. others he goes into more detail why Kismayo is so great for space launch)
Following agreements with Israel, the East African Federation has established the East African Space Administration to oversee construction of the Kismayo Spaceport, just south of the city proper at Arrow Beach. Kismayo has been selected as the site of the agreed-upon spaceport for a variety of reasons; its coastal location makes it well-suited to receive payloads from overseas and provides a clear launch track east, while its position on the equator makes it optimal for launches in any orbital domain.
The EASA Kismayo Spaceport will be equipped with all the necessary facilities to support the nascent East African space program and the partner launches that will fund the project. Docks at the spaceport itself will enable the transfer of large payloads directly to the launch sites, a mission control center will enable missions to be directed from on-site, and multiple launch pads will enable a wide variety of rocket operations. Kismayo Rocketry Ltd, a state-owned corporation, will be established with a production facility on site for licensed assembly of Shavit 2 rockets. The ability to launch east instead of west is expected to result in an effective 30% payload increase for the Shavit 2.
Establishing EASA Kismayo is expected to take approximately four years, and about two billion dollars in funding. Israel is expected to provide the bulk of funding, per prior agreement.
The Transitional Council has taken a keen interest in the city of Kismayo, as a key port in the northern Federation and the ideal location for the recently-planned spaceport complex. Kismayo itself has been under government control since Kenyan troops operating under AMISOM reclaimed the city in 2012, but Al-Shabaab militants have encroached on the surrounding region. The Council has therefore ordered the first deployment of the Federal Defense Forces to secure the Jubaland region. Federal troops will be deployed to establish a secure staging base at Kismayo before fanning out to seize Afmadow and Jilib, establishing forward operating bases there. The final stage of the operation will be establishing control of the Juba river. Air support will be provided from air bases in northern Ethiopia.
The operation will, of course, serve multiple purposes. The first of these is signaling; if the operation goes well, President Farmajo and the Somalian federal government will have no choice but to accept protectorate status on the Council's terms. Second, of course, is a stress test; this will be the first deployment of the integrated Federal Defense Forces, and Kismayo offers a low-stakes, low-difficulty environment to evaluate their performance.
While other nations have raised concerns about Russiaβs agreement for basing with the legitimate government of Somalia, those same nations have deployed troops to the same region, including tanks and fighter jets. Perhaps those nations should apply the same standards to themselves that they do to us. Russia assures these nations that our deployment is no larger or more significant than theirs, and that our deployment there is only in support of the legitimate government. We invite our international partners to form a joint anti-piracy and anti-terror unit in the region.
Therefore, in accordance with our formalized agreement with Somalia, and by Somaliaβs special request, Russia will deploy the following forces to the Kismayo, Jubaland Russian enclave and base area, in addition to approximately 3,000 naval engineers equipped with man-portable heavy weapons already onsite.
Weapons taken from the four recently (last ten years, 2012-2018) decommissioned Sovremenny-class destroyers, to be linked to the central air-surface search radar, and later emplaced in hardened bunkers:
16 AK-630 CIWS
32 P-270 Moskit AShM Launchers
8 AK-130 DP Watercooled Gun Systems in armored turret mounts
8 Buk Missile Launchers with 192 Missiles
Additional weapons taken from the decommissioned and laid up Kirov-class battlecruiser Admiral Ushakov, to be emplaced likewise.
20 P-700 Granit VLS AShM
1 Twin Silex ASW Launcher
96 S-300 (Naval) Missiles in Rotary VLS launchers
2 Osa SAM Launchers with 40 Missiles
2 AK-100 DP Gun Systems
8 AK-630 CIWS
These weapons, together with their fire control systems, can be transported on container ships, or by airlift if necessary and deployed by naval engineers already onsite for base construction. Additional fire-control radars will be installed as construction continues.
Further, 50 Ka-29 assault transport helicopters, together with rockets and ATGMs, will be deployed from Russiaβs naval aviation inventory.

Hi there, I just recently purchased the game and am having a lot of fun learning the ropes, but on this beginners mission I cant quite seem to figure out how to order my marine infantry to secure the safehouse and capture the target. Obviously attacking the safehouse causes you to fail the mission.
Any advice is appreciated!
If you haven't heard of this channel before, then I would urge you to go and take a look at their Youtube page. Hodan and her husband were amongst the people that lost their lives earlier in attack on hotel in Kismayo - Confirmed. It was the first Somali english language channel connecting the communities at home and in diaspora and presenting a picture of Somalia which is often hidden from mainstream international news coverage.
I came across this channel few months ago and the first video I watched was Keeping up with Kismayo. It's tragic that in Kisyamo she breathed her last. She's not the first person to lose her life in the conflict that has been going on for decades, but we must remember the efforts of people like Hodan and those before her who have tried to make a difference in their own way. It's also being reported that she was expectant at the time.
