Did the arrogance of Delta Force and the Rangers, as well as their dismissive attitude towards regular army soldiers, play a part in how the battle of Mogadishu went down?

I just got done by Black Hawk Down, and it seems the Rangers and Delta Force (especially Delta Force), had great deal of arrogance and dismissive attitude to units that weren't their own (like the 10th Mountain Division). I was wondering if that played a part in why the battle went the way it did.

[EVENT][RETRO] Attack on Mogadishu and Aden

Ships leave Lisbon, March 1509

With the actions against Mogadishu and Aden lacking the assault force necessary to complete the task, however, now we have troops to support us in the conflict. Now we hope that this will be enough to end Mogadishu and Aden once and for all. The reinforcements from Lisbon will consist of 5 Caravels, 3 Carracks, and 8 Nau which will be carrying the troops for our operations and supplies for our colonies in Africa and India. Carrying the components of the 3rd Royal Portuguese Army, it will be participating in both the sieges of Mogadishu and Aden.

Sacking of Mogadishu

After our last attack on Mogadishu, they should have defenses prepared against us. However, unlike in previous missions we have not been able to commit nearly as many resources as we previously would have liked. With Mogadishu being prepared, our goal is to simply completely destroy the city and take the valuables from it. Initially our goal was to peacefully occupy or even lightly assault, but this insult can not stand.

The reinforcement fleet that is coming from Lisbon (5 Caravels, 3 Carracks, and 8 Nau) will be tasked with hitting Mogadishu until it surrenders to our forces. Lourenço de Almeida has been given command of this expedition as his last expedition was an issue of not providing enough ground troops. With the Naus mostly holding the soldiers, the fleet will be split into 4 squadrons: 1st Squadron (3 Carracks), 2nd Squadron (4 Naus), 3rd Squadron (4 Naus), 4th Squadron (5 Caravels).

With the majority of the troops likely being on the 2nd and 3rd Squadron, the 1st and 4th Squadron will begin assaulting Mogadishu. With the number of cannons, we hope to force the surrender of the city. If they are not surrendering, then the 1st and 5th Squadron will provide cover fire while the 2nd and 3rd Squadron unloads the troops. We have brought with us siege artillery, and our troops will protect this as it is being unloaded for use against Mogadishu. With the 1st and 5th Squadron heavily firing, we will use our troops to assault Mogadishu. This will mostly be from the cannon fire and infantry, with the ranged fire being provided by the Arquebusiers. Without a wall, the infantry will be covered by the artillery and the ranged infantry as they assault Mogadishu. The cavalry will be held back in hopes of counter attacking any enemy cavalry, or flanking their infantry for devastating charges. [M:

TIFU (fricked) by going to Mogadishu, Somalia

It's any other day, and I'm feeling bored. I decide to ask my girlfriend (F13) if her and I (M27) want to go to another country to visit. She says that she has to ask her parents, I say who needs parents when you have your new daddy. So we're looking through countries, half of which I hadn't even heard of (Apparently a we have massive U.S territory called canadia that speaks france, I think I spelled that right.) But we settled on Somalia because there's a transfer student at her Middle School who is from there. We see that the capital is Mogadishu. Ok, cool, sounds fun. When we ask him what Mogadishu is like he tells us that there's an amazing dish called Led that we are, "definitely going to be eating," his words, not mine. So we're at the airport, we can't wait. We had just spent hours finding an airline that would take flights there (we later learned why, it's because africa is far probably I'm guessing) and we're ready to finally board the plane. The next couple of hours were boring, only two people ended up duck taped, and when we finally get off the plane, a bunch of people are giving us questionable looks. One man shouts, "You won't wanna leave airport," and while I wanted to see what was so exciting about the airport that would make us want to stay, we had made reservations for a bodyguard, because apparently there's a lot of tourists (the travel blog spelled it as terrorists) and we need someone to protect us from the crowds. So we get out the exit, and we see a bunch of men in ski masks, and one them shouts, "GET THE IVORY BITCH," and they start beating my girlfriend. I assume that this is the local greeting in Mogadishu and return the favor, and it only leads to more gunshots and fighting. The worst part is that they killed my girlfriend. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO TELL HER PARENTS THAT I KILLED THEIR MIDDLE SCHOOL DAUGHTER? I'm currently running and I've already had several close calls because apparently keeping your hotel door locked at night is not a suggestion. I've tried to leave for the airport several times, but there's always a group of masked men outside the door, and I think I'm gonna starve in this room, please help me in anyway you can.

[EVENT][RETRO] Sieges of Aden and Mogadishu

Siege of Mogadishu

March 1507

After our last attack on Mogadishu, they have prepared their defenses against us. However, unlike in previous missions we have not been able to commit nearly as many resources as we previously would have liked. With Mogadishu being prepared, our goal is to simply completely destroy the city and then occupy it. Initially our goal was to peacefully occupy or even lightly assault, but this insult can not stand.

3 Naus, 3 Caravels, and 1 Carrack will be tasked with hitting Mogadishu until it surrenders to our forces. Lourenço de Almeida has been given command of this expedition after his predecessor failed so miserably. His status in the Kingdom will be contingent on his success against Mogadishu. Once Mogadishu surrenders, the city will be stripped of its valuables and then occupied. On the return trip for Almeida, he is to also sack the city of Barawa, forcing them to become subjects of Portugal.

Siege of Aden

March 1507

Aden continues to stymie us, and we have had enough. While trying to avoid damaging the city, we have seen multiple failures. Diogo Lopes de Sequeira has been given command of the armada to finally make the people of Aden bend the knee. With 3 Nau, 2 Carracks and 3 Caravels, the entire point of the fleet is to sack Aden. Our goal will be to see the capitulation of Aden finally through beating them senseless with our ships. While this does mean destroying their defenses, we do not think landing an assault will be beneficial to us and only lead to more deaths and potentially a greater failure. Striking from distance but continuously until they capitulate will be the best way for us to handle this. Being able to resupply in Socotra, we will continue to pummel Aden until they surrender. Once they have surrendered, we will finally take the city.

The 3 Caravels while supporting the Nau and Carracks will be mainly used to scout for enemy ships from the Red Sea that are potentially engaging us, if the Mamluks (or other enemies) do attack, the Caravels will be the screening ships to allow for the Naus and Carracks to reorient themselves for combat. This either means having the Naus and Carracks prepare themselves for engagement against the Mamluk fleet, or retreating to Socotra to better prepare themselves before engaging any enemy fleet.
