Katie Roiphe Puns

Once I owned the book by Katie Roiphe criticizing the Dworkinian interpretation of sexual violence. Unfortunately I lent it to a feminist who never gave it back.

This article I found by accident, in fact by a link in a Guardian or NYT article that condemned it. It shows similar thinking as in the book I lost.

Of course it didn't help; in fact, it may have been one of the last articles like this to be possibly published in a more or less MSM. Only a few days, weeks or months afterward, especially the ambivalence Mrs. Roiphe and her anonymous spokeswomen talk about (though it says a lot they demanded to be anonymous already then!) had become absolutely taboo when the subject was sexual harassment or assault.

She describes very well the atmosphere of a witch-hunt against men and male sexuality, and predicts that though it may have come up in the heat of the moment, it will last as a new standard. Alas, as we all know, she was right. One of the best essays I read on this subject.

I see her all over some pro- and anti- whatever's Twitter feeds today, what I know is that she is a journalist and a teacher who did something bad using a fact checker but I didn't really get much more in-depth.
