Preface: For those reading this, know that this entire scenario really happened. As rare as completing a campaign actually is, this one ran for thirteen months, on a weekly basis. I was inspired to chronicle the story after reading other tales of RPGs, and, kept a word document spanning the length of the gameโs run, which grew to be 107 pages in length (including NPC backgrounds, story threads which never came to be, combat notes, and individual pieces of information given to characters over the course of the game. From these notes, I have compiled my summation. This is a VERY LONG story, with this post serving as the first of three installments. This is also my first time posting a story, so, if I've made a breach of etiquette in any way, let me know!
In May of 2020, I reached out to a group of friends, offering to run a Discord one-shot for the White Wolf game, Vampire: The Masquerade (20th Anniversary Edition). This is a game Iโd run a short campaign for previously, though not with all of the same players. Wanting to lean hard into the gothic-punk horror-vibe of the Vampire line, I told the players that the game would be set in Los Angeles, beginning on the same starting date as the actual game was being played, with one exception. I chose the year 1981, instead of placing the mission in the true modern-day. This setting allowed for players to build characters as either Sabbat or Camarilla (with Los Angeles being an Anarch city ruled by clan barons, rather than a Prince or Bishop).
The conditions I set for the game were as follows:
Each player would have to choose one of the existing clans from the game-line. No Caitiff were allowed, as I wanted to make the clan weaknesses a more active part of the mission.
Each player was given 200 experience to flesh out their character beyond starting builds. As this was intended to be a single mission, not a campaign, my intention was that players would be able to really play the characters they so often worked toward, but never fully realized. As a veteran of twenty years playing various role-playing games, Iโd seen firsthand the collapse of countless stories for as many reasons, and, wanted players to be able to play a character without the concern for unlocking future abilities. This decision became the fulcrum around which the entire campaign developed, but, weโll get to that.
No character could be more than two-hundred years old at mission-start.
All V20 material was accessible for building a
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies ๐

Hans Heyer is the only driver with a DNQ, DNF and DSQ in the same race. He failed to qualify for the 1977 German GP, started the race anyway, retired the car, and was then disqualified.
In the 1997 European Grand Prix, Jacques Villeneuve, Michael Schumacher and Heinz-Harald Frentzen all qualified with a time of 1:21.072.
Ernst Loof holds the record for the shortest ever F1 career. Loof entered the 1953 German Grand Prix, but only completed two metres before retiring the car, due to a fuel pump failure.

BamBOO!
After several weeks of travel, and the same again in preparation - it has become time for the Coronation of Gaston. It was an affair that came at troubled times. The efforts of the Holy League, and the self-titled King of Italy, brought further strife to the tumultuous peace won by Gaston's installation as the divinely sanctioned monarch.
But still such events must occur, and must be done properly. Invitations went far and wide, to the relevant people, with notes, and acknowledgements of the matters at hand - many have been asked for parties on their behalf to be in attendance, rather than themselves, with the expectation of their non-attendance being considered an unfortunate reality, rather than a deliberate stub.
Most importantly, His Eminence Juan de Vera, the Archbishop of Salerno would be needed to conduct the Coronation. It would be he, that would place the Crown upon the head of Gaston. But he was not the only dignitary of the Church that would be expected:
Pilot on me!!
Nothing, he was gladiator.

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.

EARLY SEASON TRADES
Knicks sends Derek Anderson (8.06, 58/60, 27 yr, 2004), Cedric Henderson (840k, 50/56, 26 yr, 2002), Larry Johnson (1.9, 58/58, 32 yr, 2001), 2001 1st rnd (POR), 2004 1st rnd to Nuggets for 2004 1st rnd
Knicks send G Howard Eisley (1.02, 48/48, 29 yrs, 2001) and PG Randel Jackson (300k, 40/46, 25 yrs, 2002) to Jazz for Karl Malone (7.71, 54/54, 38 yrs, 2002) & F/C Bison Dele (300k, 41/41, 32 yrs, 2002)
Knicks send SG Jon Barry (1.91, 48/48, 32 yrs, 2002) & 2004 2nd rnd pick to Trail Blazers for SF Cedric Ceballos (2.28, 44/44, 32yrs, 32) & PG Eric Murdock (930k, 43/43, 33 yrs, 2002) & 2004 2nd rnd pick
So, about that whole Knicks being a playoff contender thing? Iโm not sure if the Knicks got Kittles OK to do these series of trades, sending away much of their starting lineup (Anderson, Johnson, and Henderson) along with some of their older bench players along with 2 first-round picks in exchange for a 1st rounder, an aging Karl Malone who will be an expiring contract next year, and a bunch of other expiring contracts. Itโs an interesting series of trades but torpedoed any real playoff hopes Knicks fans had basically days into the season.
On the other side of the trades, the Nuggets suddenly look like playoff contenders, itโs officially the dawn of a new era w/ Malone being gone in Utah, and shockingly, Portland got oh so slightly younger after a trade.
Seattle Sonics send #12 pick Courtney Alexander (1.01, 48/56, 24 yrs, 2003), 2001 2nd, and 2001 2nd (ORL) to Houston Rockets for PG Tyron Lue (870k, 53/57, 24 yrs, 2003) & C Soumalia Samake (300k, 34/39, 23 yrs, 2002)
A somewhat big trade early on, with the Seattle Sonics attempting to kickstart getting better somewhat earlier by getting rid of their #12 pick and some draft ballast in exchange for Tyrone Lue, whoโs a cheap decent guard option and a third-string center to make up the contracts. Interesting risk for the Rockets, who could possibly challenge for a late playoff spot.
Mid-Season Trades & Notes
Charlotte Hornets sends SG Dion Glover (640k, 53/60, 23 yrs, 2002), PG Stephon Marbury (9.41, 53/60, 24 yrs, 2004), PG Eddie Gill (300k, 37/44, 23 yrs, 2002) & 2001 2nd rnd pick to Cleveland Cavaliers for F/C Vin Baker (8.0, 62/62, 30 yrs, 2003), G/F Dan Majerle (300k, 37/37, 36 yrs, 2002) & 2001 1st rnd pick
Despite the fact theyโre fighting for a playoff spot
