A list of puns related to "Israeli Surname"
I've heard of an Israeli athlete named Bar Timor, and I want to use that surname for a Jewish character. So my question is: Does "Timor" come from Hebrew, or is it from the language in some other area with a historical Jewish population (like how Sephardi surnames derive from Spanish and Ashkenazi surnames derive from German)?
Neither my first nor last name is particularly jewish, and iβve always been self concious about that. I was thinking maybe when i made aliyah to change my first name to my hebrew name, david (ΧΧΧ), and my last name to my momβs maiden name, Levy (ΧΧΧ).
Do people ever do this in israel? Would it be looked upon with suspicion by people?
I recently found an entire reddit post dedicated to denying the Hispanic influence in the Philippines while also generalizing the entire Latino population as racist and it was by a non-Filipino. I was shocked that a lot of Filipinos liked his post because it was wrong to me. I made an account just so I can reply to it and give my two cents in but the post as of today no longer allow new replies. So I thought I'd just make my own post. I still privately messaged that non-Filipino person and gave my reply to him. I would like to share it here:
"There's no reason to Hispanicized the Philippines again because Hispanicization in the Philippines has never left except for the Spanish language. Here's my personal top 12 list:
Christianity is the most prevalent religious belief and this belief is carried by up to 93% of our population. It's extremely normal to step inside a Filipino household and see a Jesus Christ altar or a symbol of Christianity somewhere in the living room or dining area.
The biggest annual event in our country is Christmas and it's celebrated from September to December and in some provinces, it's even up to January.
We have so many Fiestas that we celebrate uniquely in each province and these Fiestas are mostly celebrated with a Santo/Saint or an image of Jesus Christ or Mother Mary.
The most prevalent surnames in the Philippines are Spanish like Garcia and Reyes. Our naming system is solely based on the Spanish style in which we carry our mother's surname as our middle name and our father's surname as our last. Then we usually have a first name and a second name so most Filipinos have four names in total. Our Indigenous ancestors didn't even use surnames before. True story. Go look it up and research it yourself.
Taxes were even introduced to us by the Spanish colonizers because our Indigenous ancestors didn't believe in that type of government style.
The presence of homophobia and patriarchy in the Philippine society right now is from the Spanish culture too because our Indigenous ancestors
It seems to me that the Lunarians are based on ancient Israelites and here is why.
Fan subs of the chapter stated that Kingβs real name was Arbel, while the official translation states it as Alber, the official translation in this case is most likely wrong and here is why:
Alber is a nickname (surname) name derived from the latin word Albanus which means white, seems fair Kingβs hair is white correct? Wrong, Alber was only given to people of white skin and blonde hair (Arians). However this was 600 years before Nazi Germany. Weirdly enough the name originated in the Deutsch-Franco border of Alsace.
Now letβs move to the name Arbel. It is the name of an Ancient Israeli mountain found in the region of Hittin in modern day Palestine. The mountain even has a hiking trail that is their national hiking trail which at some point converges with a trail called the Jesus trail (points to belief of divinity). The mountain was also used as a storage base during the First Roman-Jewish war (redline theory) and during the Ottoman Empire their caves were turned into a castle where the son of the Druze ruler in the 17th century lived in (Marie Geoise?) The name Arbel has been adopting by the Jewish for their boys to replicate the historic and religious significance of the mountain (ancient gods?) and the meaning of the name is the real kicker βDivine Nightβ which would make sense why the Lunarians are linked to
Now that we have the names out of the way, we can clearly see that the name Arbel makes much more sense than Alber, also the fact that the Lunarians seem to be based off of Israelites, remember that the Jewish in origin are of brown skin and white pigmentation only came after generations of breeding with external races.
Similarities between the two:

It really does, I swear!
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
