Wanted to ask yβall what would be a good routine I could do for 60-90 minutes a day?
Currently thinking something along the lines of:
3 x 3mins Jump Rope Stretch ~ 10 Minutes 5x 1 mins Ladder Drills 5x 1 mins Battle Ropes 6x 3 mins Heavy Bag (1 Rd Jab, 2 Rd Combos, 3 Rds Freestyle) 1 mile Run 10 minute AB workout Stretch

Iβm looking at you, ASDA.
gloves or no gloves? whats the purpose to wearing gloves? I thought they're only used in fighting to decrease cuts on your opponent
Noob DIY guy here. Iβm looking to hang a heavy bag (120 lbs or so) from my garage ceiling. From the research Iβve done, this is what Iβve gathered:
Find joists. Get a 2x4 that will span across two or more joists (more the better - I plan to span it across 4), predrill holes into it, then insert lag bolts to secure it. Drill heavy bag bracket into the middle of said 2x4 and hang heavy bag.
This is the general plan I have so far. Iβm wondering if someone can give me more details about what I need to do or tell me what I should do instead of this. Some questions I currently have:
I guess laying the 2x4βs on TOP of the joists would be the most secure? But I have a drywalled ceiling and would rather not cut into it to access the attic. Am I okay to secure the planks to the bottom of the joists?
Is a 2x4 bulky enough or should I be looking at 2x6, 2x8, 2x10?
What length lag screws would I need?
I have a drill, planks, and will get appropriately sized lag screws. Do I need washers and if so what size? What other tools/materials will I need for this job?
Any other details/instructions I should know?
Am I in over my head and would be better off just paying a handyman to do it for me?
Thanks a bunch for any and all help!
Hi everyone,
This year I decided to get my ass in gear and lose weight/improve fitness. Been a success so far and I've lost nearly 70 pounds. Mostly improved diet, cardio (exercise bike) and some light weights (100 pounds bench press)
My girlfriend has been very supportive and has bought me a punching bag for x-mas. I'm very happy with this and can't wait to start using it.
I'm a beginner and don't want to start off wrong. I've been doing some research and found some contradicting ways to start.
Could someone recommend a good tutorial for beginners? I do plan to join a club when finances/the world allows it but I'd like to get started.
hey all, maybe bit of a strange post, please bear with me. started boxing mostly for fitness purposes back in august- i was 480lbs when i started. after almost daily training and a dietary change, iβm down to 390 so far. most of what i do is mitt work with my coach, but iβm not seeing him much lately due to covid so iβve started doing more bag work at the gym... but since that closed down, iβve been utilizing my at-home heavy bag which iβve had almost 15 years but never used prior to the past couple weeks. the bag is still like-new and is extremely hard/stiff, the outside made of some stiff and abrasive synthetic material... very very unpleasant to hit barehand (which i never do). iβve been using 14 and 16oz Cletoβs until now and have been very happy- i absolutely adore the amazing feedback they provide, and really love their leather. but since starting training at home on my heavy bag, iβve been getting extremely sore knuckles to the point that some days they swell up quite significantly and are usually red all day. i am a pretty heavy hitter, plus iβm sure the weight is adding a good deal of power... but iβve never had this issue until now. do you guys think itβs simply because of how hard my bag is, or could it be something else? iβm wrapping up first of course. wondering if i should scrap my bag (it was an entry level tko bag) in favour of something leather and slightly softer, or whether i should perhaps take the plunge for a pair of 18oz winning gloves. might seem excessive to go with 18βs for bag work, but iβm just exploring options. i know winning also makes some knuckle gel guards which people seem to dig. maybe their 14 or 16oz gloves would be sufficient seeing as theyβre known for their protection?
I'm looking online to by some punching bag gloves and see different weights and types. I just want to get a pair for hitting the bag at the gym. I'm a 250lb guy if that matters. The online charts say 16oz gloves and I seen on other websites that the boxing gloves with the heavy pads aren't the best for the bag. So not sure what to get.
need your help everybody
i have this wall pull up
which is great, i also have an 80lbs punching bag , i used to hang and unhang it from the pull up bar, but because the bag is to heavy to lift and hook the clips i avoided it and now its just stored in the basement.
is there any smarter easier way to hang it and unhang it from the pull up bar?
all ideas are welcome especially the less expensive ones!
I am renting at the moment and have a reflex bag. I would like to get a heavy bag but am unable to wall mount it. Whatβs the best option for this?
Hey Everyone - my gym is finally opening back up soon, but before I go back I would love to get feedback on some of my late round bag work. I got some great feedback last week on my shadow boxing, and would appreciate any tips you all have (wonβt post again for awhile and until I have some good sparring footage).
Thanks
It just keeps getting more red as the days pass. What are some of your thoughts/exit strategy with this stock? I honestly, bought in with some hype months ago thinking it was a winner and didn't have a plan then.
I need to make one now.
