I'm kinda proud of this shot from the Battle of Magnis Fortress. Looks like it could be a recruitment poster for the Army of Halfdan Jarl Ragnarsson.

Halfdan Ragnarsson and Hvitserk Ragnarsson

Are they the same person? I've done a ton of research on this incredible person but I can't determine if he is the same person as Hvitserk. His name changes depending on whether the saga is Scandinavian or Anglo Saxon. But his death....its different. Hvitserk was burnt alive on top of a pile of human remains fighting agaisnt the Rus while Halfdan was slain in Ireland

Anyone else getting this Halfdan Ragnarsson glitch?

So I'm playing through the VC main quest, and it requires me to get to Jarl Halfdan Ragnarsson. I travel to one of his cities and ask where he is. Apparently he is traveling to Eidynburh and should be close to Bal Luighne at the moment. I go there, and I find no trace of him. I've waited for nearly a month in game now, and they always tell me he is close to Bal Luighne yet he is never there. I've been trying to find him for like a day and a half in real time and I'm getting pretty bored with this. Do anyone of you have this same glitch and is there a way to fix or do I have to wait until the hotfix and then restart?

Halfdan Lothbrook

I just started the Northumbria/Eurivicscire saga and man, this is one angry, strong, iron willed mother f*****! For a second in the opening I thought he was wielding Mjolnjr! (Thors Hammer) but I think a soldier threw it back.

He’s crazy af and clearly got some sort of rationality impairment that’s getting worse because of his obsession with treachery (paranoia) and booty (loot).

Very interesting to see where this leads as an alliance with this guy, oldest son of the Great Ragnar Lothbrook would be legendary in Vikingr history!

Wish me luck on this endeavour fellow Vikings, I think it’s gonna go out with a BANG!

Edit: His name is actually Halfdan Ragnarsson!

[Spoilers] Fun fact about a certain person you meet in a certain debaucherous house

In the Essex storyline you meet a side character named Rollo in a whorehouse and he is getting whipped by prostitutes. It’s a pretty funny introduction but you quickly learn he’s a skilled fighter and eventually joins your crew. I recognized the name so took a quick look at the codex and low and behold it wasn’t a coincidence.

The Rollo you meet naked being “satisfied” is in fact the Rollo that would be gifted Normandy about 10 years after in game time. His descendants would become the House of Normandy, who would successfully conquer the entirety of England about 300 years after the game. So for a game with a plot around “Vikings conquering England,” know that the random side character Rollo was the only one with the spawn to get it done

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

[SPOILERS] Imagining hypothetical other sages.

So, we’ve now found out that Aita, Odin’s Trusted Eight, and Loki were the sole utilizers (for now) of the Seventh Solution — that is, reincarnation via implanting Isu genetic material into the human genome.

We also know that a few of those reincarnated Isu have become famous, important people throughout history: Bartholomew “Black Bart” Roberts (Aita), Halfdan Ragnarsson (Thor), Harald Fairhair (Freyr probably), and a few other major Aita sages.

That got me wondering about which other real-world historical figures would match up with which gods in mythologies if they had also been Isu who had gotten to use the Seventh Solution.

For example, I really like the idea that the Slavic god of darkness and death, Czernobog, was the Isu who reincarnated as Vlad III of Wallachia — better known as Vlad the Impaler, or Vlad Drakula.

Who is in your Isu reincarnation just-for-fun headcanon?

[Spoiler] Ubisoft kinda fucked themselves over with the last arc

I'm talking about the Hamtunshire arc. Although it can't really be helped, Halfdan Ragnarsson not joining in the fight in Chippenham kinda made the entire Eurvicshire arc pointless (He dies in 877 in Ireland pressing his claim as King of Dublin).

The others, however...

I could be wrong, but I saw no friendly Saxons/Mercians during the entire battle, which means:

-Geadric (Oxenfordshire)

-Hunwald(Lincolnshire, don't know about Aelfgar)

-Tewdyr(Glowecestreshire)

-Broder(East Anglia)

Really just brought THEMSELVES (or only the Danes for Broder). At least Birstan is understandable as he is still a West Saxon ealdorman but he did bring us a covered battering ram for Suthsexe so why can't he bring us some equipment this time round? Even if it's because of historical accuracy it doesn't quite lessen the feeling of being underwhelmed after spending 60+ hours fufilling pledge after pledge just to get an extra 10 people.

Maybe Soma, Hunwald and Hjorr might have lived

These aren't dad jokes...

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.

If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.

Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.

Devler buraya Stur yani Siyah dediler. Niflheim'ın nehirleri donmuştu. Bu nehirlere Ginnungagap dendi. Günün birinde Muspell'deki kıvılcımlar nehirlerin üzerine düştü ve nehirleri eritti. Erimiş nehirlerden oluşan damlacıklar Ymir'i şekillendirdi ve Ymir'in terinden diğer dişi ve erkek devler oluştu.

Yaratılış efsanesinin bir başka versiyonu daha vardır:

Eriyen damlalar en ilkel inek şeklini aldılar. Audhumla; sütüyle Ymir'i besleyen inek.

[SPOILER] I may have missed something in the Jorvik arc and my thoughts on one of the endings.

So what happened to Halfdan Ragnarsson? He sort of just "withered away" from the story. Maybe I wasn't paying attention after he found out about Ivarr, but he wasn't an ally in the battle at Chepeham, so something happened and I must've missed an explanation.

And regarding Aelfred, like Basim, he's in the "gray" for me in terms of being an antagonist. It seems like he wanted to found the Templars to ensure order, but not to stifle freedom like Templars from I to III. Somehow after his death, those whom he considered corrupt probably infiltrated the Templars, and I wonder how future games will explain that (unless his Christian piety is also just a really good ruse).

Bottomline, I don't exactly know how I feel, for sure I don't feel any solid closure, but I'm excited for whatever's next.

...and I still have to finally get Ravensthorpe to 6.
