A list of puns related to "H2g2"
Is there some quotes website for this kind of thing? A search engine.
What the title says. I'm writing this thing called "Flat Out Cursed". It's something that's supposed to be funny in a very dumb way. I am, admittedly, quite scared of sharing this, since I think it's kinda bad, but hey I won't know for sure 'til people tell me!
This is a flashback to many years ago.
I applied to a university for a double degree in Arts and Education. Parts of the process was to perform two monologues. Being very typical, I chose the "Alas, poor Yorrick" monologue (I know, very expected), but also the monologue from The Man Who Rules the Universe as he talks to his cat, taken from the radio scripts.
I, to this day, credit that second choice with the fact that I earnt my double degree, qualified to become a high school teacher...
...and then realise I can't stand kids
But the monologue is freaking awesome.
This is the only one I could find and the video quality is awful. It's a funny scene and good to reference.
Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that I e-mailed asking for permission to read "The More Than Complete Hitchhikers Guide" on twitch.tv. This includes all 4 books and the short story "Young Zaphod Plays It Safe. I am really hoping that they give me permission as I am not an affiliate and I do not make money on Twitch, I just want to share my love of the book series with the world. I will let you all know how they reply. I just wanted to put this out there because I'm excited and I want others to be as well.
Hello all, I'm working in a comedy sci-fi story and I wanted to do a passing nod to the greatest master of the genre and I was hoping to bounce an idea here.
I wanted to do something like the Vogon announcement at the beginning of H2G2. Perhaps a band of Space Flies come to Earth (or whatever...) to foreclose on it since it is in such great debt and intend on using the Earth as a staging ground for a video game.
Announcement: "People of Earth, this is the head of CrazyFly Games, FuzzySoft, & H.M.I.D. We understand the Earth is under a great deal of debt, and we have chosen to call our debt at this time. You have until E.O.D. 5/4 of this year to repay all debt or go into Foreclosure. This is not a drill. Disregard all other messages..."
Obviously, I'm not trying to be as funny as Adams, since that is impossible, but I'd like to do some sort of a nod to what inspired me to become a game designer and writer.
and I figured out today that H2G2 refers to the two H's in HitchHiker's and the two G's of Guide and Galaxy. Zarking hell. I always thought one of the 2's was the word to, and never understood the other.
Douglas Adams the genius' most popular book, and my favorite fiction ever. The book crosses over several types of humor. It has satire, surrealism, and just straight up absurd and random humor. Due to the fact that this kind of humor isn't very popular in Korea, this book isn't very well known in my country. However, if you understand this kind of humor and enjoy it, this book will be an absolute blast. And even if you don't like this humor, the book's story and writingย are absolutely phenomenal.
In this book, 'The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy', the first of many books to come, starts off with Earth getting destroyed.ย Ironically, the main character, Arthur Dent, was laying in front of a bulldozer trying to prevent the uncaring government destroying his house to build a highway, then escapes Earth just a few minutes later with help from his friend, Ford Prefect, who is an alien, when the intergalactic government destroys Earth to build an intergalactic highway. Asย I said, this is the type of humor you will see. The duo then gets kicked off of the Vogon spaceship they just hitched a ride on, since they were rescued by the dentrassis, the ship's cooks. After that, they get rescued by another spaceship, the heart of gold, by Ford's semi-half cousin and ex-galactic president Zaphod Beeblebrox, and Arthur's old crush, Trillian Astra. In the heart of gold, there is a depressed robot named Marvin, and the spaceship's main computer with a personality named Eddie. The crew then goes off to Magrathea, a planet only told through legends. Apparently, Magrathea was the home of a new industry of building planets for extremely rich people at very high prices. Eventually, Magrathea sapped up all the money in the Galaxy, causing everyone except the Magratheans to abject poverty. This causes the Magratheans to go to hibernation, waiting for everyone to become rich again to buy planets. Assuming everyone is dead on the planet, Zaphod orders Eddie to go to the surface of the planet, only to be met with 2 missile rockets. Using the infinite improbability drive, the rockets turn into a sperm whale and a bowl of petunias which is I swear one of the funniest parts of the book. After the crew lands on Magrathea, Arthur and Marvin are left on the surface while the rest of them go off to explore the underground. Arthur then meets up with Slartibartfast, one of the coast designers on Magrathea who really likes fjords. Slartibartfast explains to Arthur that the Earth was, in fac

Do any of you have anything like that or can think of anything cool? I was personally thinking of something quite small and/or a subtle reference.
Thanks :)
I used to go on the h2g2 site all the time in high school. I havenโt been on it in years, but Iโm surprised to see that thereโs no app thatโs been created for smartphones, especially considering that the hitchhikers guide was basically the OG smartphone/e-reader.
So, I'm staying in London for a couple of days and would like to know if there's any H2G2 or DNA-related tourism to do.
I might visit his grave, but it's sooo far away that I'm still not sure. Is there anything else I might be missing?
In the Hitchhiker's Guide series, the greatest measure of a man is knowing where his towel is. The most versatile, useful object in the known universe, having a towel means you have it all.
And what does Arthur Dent classically wear everywhere? A bathrobe/dressing robe. A towel you can wear. Arthur Dent always knows where his towel is. Always.

Hey good sirs and madams of reddit!
I'm an amateur writer and I'm looking for feedback for something I've been working on. I would be very grateful (and not much else) if you could give it a tiny little read and let me know what you think.
I've been told by multiple people that my work resembles H2G2. Though it isn't intentional, I can see it percolating into my writing style as Douglas Adams has been my favorite towel carrying Englishman since I was a child. So I decided to ask the fine folks here to read it and give me valuable feedback.
Please let me know if it's good or bad (even if it is as bad Vogon Poetry).
Thank you and as always keep on not panicking.

Anyone know the name/location of the pub used in the tv series? Any other filming locations worth visiting?
I'm looking for some books that are a bit light hearted like hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and the bobiverse trilogy.
A good combination of scifi / humor is what I am mainly looking for, but if it is more of a humor / fantasy ordeal (like the entire discworld series) that would be most excellent as well.
And some other books I really enjoyed:
With all the Star Wars, Star Trek, and countless other fan films out there, it seems odd that there aren't any Hitchhiker's Guide fan films that have been made. You would think that someone out there would've made one. I mean, if decent Star Wars fan films can be made, than why not Hitchhiker's Guide?
It's called r/h2g2memes
Intelligent name, I know
i'm trying to translate the game, since i'm making tis from scratch
