Massachusetts governor Charlie Baker, a moderate Republican and one of the most popular governors in the country, has said that he will not be running for reelection in 2022. His lieutenent governor Karyn Polito has similarly indicated that she will not run for governor in 2022.
Announced candidates for the 2022 race include on the Republican side Trump Massachusetts campaign chair Geoff Diehl who has declared his intention to run in the Republican primary and no other major candidates so far. For the Democrats former Berkshire state senator Ben Downing, Boston state senator Sonia Chang Diaz, and political science professor Danielle Allen have each announced their campaigns for governor. Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey and Secretaty of Labor Marty Walsh have also been rumored to be considering entering the race but so far have not made any announcements. Additionally it is speculated that Shiva Ayyadurai may enter the race either in the Republican primary or as an independent.
How does the exit of Baker help or hinder the chances of these candidates and how do you think this will this affect the race moving forward?

Not since my Governorship has a candidate native to Purple Province been elected to its office of Governorship. Foreign influences have conspired in the last few elections in order to undermine the Province. Alza's terms brough about the renaming of all cities in the province to communist leaders with the exception of Polaris. His term also saw increased activity from Monkie based terrorist activity in the province, including the kidnapping of many citizens. Despite this, he prefered to stay not interventionist in face of this foreign threat. During Artichoke's term he tried to dissolve the state and massacre the families and children of Purple Province. I suppose Lyditte is ok but he hasn't really done anything when he could of reigned in Artichoke (which to be fair I imagine he was asleep) which means he could be considered semi-complicit in the events around the Anarchy in the province. Now we can come back and look at me, during my term, was when most of the cities in modern Purple province were built, I also have been responsible for the expansion of the provinces Space Program as well as our Martian colony. Furthermore, I have spearheaded efforts to maintain the defense of the province and to destroy its enemies. Furthermore, when the anarchy of Artichoke descended upon the province, It was I who took control of the military and united the province while the despicable forces of Aqua and Gray tried to carve us up. This is all to say, in order to secure the best future for Purple Province, Vote Battleship for Purple Governor.
