Unpopular opinion, but I don’t think Fieldy is going to return to the band.

I want to preface this by saying that I absolutely love KoRn, and Fieldy is one of my main influences for picking up the bass guitar. But I feel like we’ve seen this before with David (though we all pretty much know that this was under very different circumstances).

While I’d love to believe that Fieldy is just taking a break to get his life back on track/sober again, I can’t help but feel like this is it for him. They’re in their 50s yet they still tour like they’re in their 20s, hell, outside of Covid Jon has been huffing oxygen during shows for a pretty long time now. They’ve all got families that I’m sure the various lockdowns allowed them to realise how much they miss when they’re out on the road.

The thing that really sealed the deal for me though was the promo pictures for the upcoming album and the quick cutaway shots during the Start the Healing music video (which I think was recently confirmed to be Ra?)

I don’t know, I’m skeptical if we’ll ever see Fieldy return. Personally I don’t want to see that happen, but from the various interviews, the promo images, etc etc, I kinda feel like this is it.

Of course I wish him all the best and hope he’s in a better place. But yeah, I’d love to know what you all think too?

"I’m not going to watch Fieldy die, I refuse to": Jonathan Davis explains why Korn’s bassist can’t be in the band right now

Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis wants founding bassist Fieldy to be “a huge part” of the band again, but only if he gets better

Korn frontman Jonathan Davis says that he hopes to see his dear friend Fieldy return to the band, but only if the bassist can overcome the “bad habits” which caused him to step away from the nu metal superstars in June. Though he played on the Californian band’s forthcoming Requiem album, due for release in February, the bassist is conspicuously absent from the Korn’s new promotional photos Fieldy, real name Reggie Arvizu, revealed in June that it had been “suggested” to him that he should sit out the group’s 28-city US summer tour, in order to “heal”, acknowledging that his behaviour “has caused some tension with the people around me.”

“I will be working towards getting the bad habits out of my system,” he wrote in a June 21 social media post. “Jonathan, Munky, Ray and Head, I love you and I don't want to bring any tension or bad vibes to the circle." Five months on, it seems that the door is not yet open for the bassist to return.

“I love him; he’s my brother,” Jonathan Davis tells Kerrang! “But I watched somebody I care about die [the singer’s estranged wife Deven died of an accidental overdose in 2018] and I’m not going to fucking do that again. I refuse to. I will feel guilt for the rest of my fucking life because of that. I tried my hardest but perhaps if I’d been a little bit tougher there’d have been a different outcome. I pray that he can figure it out and get better and come back and be a huge part of this band again.” Always open about his own demons, Davis insists he is now “fully healed” of addiction, but admits that he is only too aware of the possibility of future turmoil.  “Whenever I’ve been happy,” he says, “there’s always been a negative that fucking comes and takes it away from me.”

“The dark, to me, has been a very familiar place,” he says “That’s comfortable to me. But now I’m going through this new life, having had that [darkness] all go away, I don’t know how to react to it and I don’t know what to do. It’s hard for me to let go of that place. I always want to go back there because it’s familiar, but I’ve got to let it go. I’m not tortured anymore. I had to break free from that place – it was going to fucking kill me if I stayed there forever.”

So Fieldy isn't gonna be on the Requiem album tour because of the issues he's been going through and he hasn't gotten better so instead Ra Diaz is going to go on tour with them it's going to be similar to when Fieldy was having on of his babies and Ryan Martinie stepped in for him let's hope that Fieldy can deal with his personal issues.

Fieldy's Review Corner- Inaugural Edition

This is the first in a (somewhat) weekly recipe review series. Yes, it's been done before by others, but the more we review, the more the community benefits, and so here I am. Let's get to it.

Today's recipe is Chocomint Bacco by u/isuamadog and u/TeslaDelMar. Here's the link: https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/217671

Here's the recipe:

VT Chocolate Mousse 1.5%
FLV Cream 0.5%
FLV Creme de Menthe 1.75%
VT Devon Cream 2%
FLV Red Burley 1.5%
FLV Sweet & Smokey Tobacco 0.5%
FLV Tatanka Tobacco 1.1%
FLV Turkish Tobacco 1.1%
TPA Vanilla Swirl 1%

Review Time:

The combination of chocolate and mint is a classic, and I really enjoy this one. I know u/isuamadog is a big lover of FLV Chocolate Deutsch, and I commend him for not using it here. I'd like to think that u/TeslaDelMar fought him valiantly and won. This combo of the VT chocolates is really nice and light, and the FLV Creme de Menthe is the obvious choice to me. It's perfect, and the addition of FLV Cream and TPA Van Swirl make it cohesive and smooth.

Onto the tobaccos, this recipe has some of my favorites. To me, the base here is the FLV Red Burley and Turkish. Turkish has the smooth and slightly sweet and Burley the nuttiness. FLV Sweet & Smokey is my new cool kid on the block. It's got the nice sweet smoke that I love, and it's also rich and smooth. I could probably vape it on its own, but why when you can add it to a mix like this and really get it going. Tatanka I know well, and I don't actually get much of it from this recipe, which I think highlights one aspect of the Sweet & Smokey you should be aware of: it can take over a bit, even at low percentages. I wouldn't say it took over here, but I can't find the Tatanka (not that that's the end of the world). It's a real nice tobacco overall, bold enough to stand up to the mint, but mild-mannered enough to let it play in the sandbox too.

I'm going to take a page from u/isuamadog and finish up with what can we learn from this recipe:

BALANCE. Much like the force, combining profiles requires a delicate hand and knowledge of the profiles and flavors involved. Sure, that might be easy for experienced mixers like these, but for new mixers, I think one of the hardest things to learn is restraint. People pour into the Discord looking to buy 250 different flavors and make all the recipes with all flavors from the get go. Resist that. Start with the basics

Favorite Fieldy Bassline?

I got high the other night and listened to Life is Peachy and it completely enhanced the experience. I was hearing things that I hadn't heard before even though I've listened to that record a million times. It was kinda scary actually.

But what stuck out to me was Fieldy's playing. I guess I never paid much attention to the intricacies but more of the obvious bass moments like porno creep and no place to hide. But on Kunt, Swallow and Chi, I dialed in like never before and was tripping over how fucked up in a good way it sounded. He's not the most technically proficient but he does have a unique style and sound that's all his own. It reminded me of g-funk and west coast gangsta rap but played kinda sloppy.

Anywayz what's your favourite Fieldy bassline?

Update: I read Fieldy's book..twice.

Before I get started I just want to say that there will be spoilers for the book if you have not read it and want to read it! This is my full review of the book.

I posted on here a while back asking if Fieldy's 'Got The Life' book was worth it and quite a few people told me it was, so I went into it with high expectations.

And let me just say the book blew me away.

I was a big fan of Fieldy going into it and I feel like I am a bigger fan of him now, in a way.

I have already on how big of a douchebag he was but I didn't really know the extent of it till I read the book. There were times that I had to put the book down and take a breather.

There were things I learned about him that even a Google search couldn't tell me. I knew that all of the band members had gone through drugs and alcohol but didn't think Fieldy was a hardcore drug user and alcoholic. I never knew about his childhood home growing up either, which gave me more an insight on him.

Now the way he treated women and such made me mad and disappointed in him, but I know he isn't like that now and he has changed for the better.

I loved the pictures he put of himself in the book, especially the one of him high as hell on tour that's my favorite one, since it made the book more interesting.

There was stuff I learned from the other band members too that I have never learned about before, as well and how the four of them found Jonathan and brought him into the band.

From what I said earlier, I had to put the book down several times. One instance was literally the first few pages of when Fieldy told how he attacked his current wife and tried to suffocate her. That threw me in for a loop.

Another instance would be when Marlyin Manson's tour manager, at the time I think the year was like 1995 or 1996, lured Fieldy into another room, telling him there was a big party happening, and when they got to a room, Manson's tour manager and a band called Danzig's, no idea who they are, crew handcuffed him and tried to take his clothes off and assaulted him. Granted, I had to put the book down for a while after reading that. Yes he was a douchebag and an asshole but he didn't deserve that, in my opinion.

The book felt raw and uncensored which is what i liked about it. Fieldy told it how it was with no sugarcoating whatsoever. I think, to me, it proves how much he has changed as a person to be able to admit the shit you have done and everything. I think that's what makes me like him more. So I e

isuamadog, Fieldy & Kitty’s MEGA MONSTER RECIPE REVIEWS of 2021

It has been little over six months ago since we did the last mega recipe review.

Plan was to do this by end of the year, but with a still on-going pandemic spreading and all the nonsense in US concerning vaping, the mixing community has been more busy than ever.

Whether you've been under tight social restrictions, tossed your hard-earned money on the AMC-stock yelling ooga-booga while doing so, or just decided that you want to mix in a bathtub and call yourself Apex. Then you have been mixing.

So here's a "short" list of mixes that we've tried during 2021 thus far.

Rules still apply from last round: No famous mixers. So you won't find recipes by your ID10-T's, your Wayne's or your 100% loveable huggybear EdibleMalfunction's on this list.

What you will find are recipes made by your every day normal people, with the one goal from us to spread awareness about mixes and mixers, that you might not have stumbled upon otherwise. Who knows, maybe recipe of the year could be hiding here.

Reviews will come in order of 3 reviews per reviewer and links to recipes will be provided in each review and following as such:

Is Fieldy still involved in the recording process?

Ray is phenomenal, criminally underrated, but is overall more generic sounding and his sound could be applied to many other bands. If Fieldy isn't involved I worry it will be the same case? I just don't want Korn to lose yet another core element. JD didn't do his signature scat-rap on The Nothing. Plus with a few snippets aside, Korn has dropped a lot of the crunchy riffs that made them distinct. Korn have had a second wind of sorts and are at the top of their game so I don't question the overall quality. I'm not hating but it's hard for me to be excited because their sound has definitely been gradually diluted and so it's harder for me to be hyped. Does anyone see where I'm coming from?
