A list of puns related to "Eustachian Tube"
Hello, I am writing this post posing a question to anyone diagnosed with Granulomatosis with Polyangitis, formerly known as Wegenerβs Granulomatosis.
The question: do you have hearing loss because of ear pressure changes and will infusions of Rituximab help calm down any ear pressure issues?
I am currently experiencing really bad ear pressure out of my left ear and it feels like I just got on a plane with all this weird boggyness. I really hate it π’
This happened to me with my last pregnancy as well and I had mostly forgotten about it until it started happening again this time. My left ear will get βpluggedβ kind of, itβs like my breath is roaring through my ear and my voice is amplified through it. Itβs really annoying and thereβs nothing I can do to help it. My first pregnancy it didnβt go away until after I gave birth. So I know Iβll be dealing with it the whole pregnancy. Anyone else have this?
Hello fellow tube clickers--I've been trying to improve my singing lately, but I'm running into an issue where I can't lift my soft palate without also opening my Eustachian tubes, which blasts my voice directly into my ears and makes it impossible to focus on singing. I've found a couple posts online from people with voluntary Eustachian tube control describing the same problem, but I haven't seen anybody report success in overcoming it. Has anybody else here experienced this issue?
Hello, I'm pretty OK at rumbling (I can do it for ~10 seconds while keeping a straight face) but was wondering how you could "click". I read that cats/dogs can here clicks and want to try it with mine. Thanks :)
This is really specific, but I was wondering if anyone has had experience in dealing with Eustachian tube dysfunction and how/if their T1 affected it at all and how long it took them to get over it or anything that would help remedy it. I have already been to the doctor so Iβm really looking for any tips in dealing with this because it comes and goes and itβs soooo damn frustrating.
Background is that I had a good cry session about my diabetes in the middle of November, and when I was blowing my nose after, my left ear suddenly popped, followed by a horrible pain. I actually thought I ruptured my eardrum. The pain went away a few minutes later, but my ear felt weird after. I went to the doctor and she took a look in there and said that while I had some wax buildup (lol), my eardrum was not ruptured and I didnβt have an infection. She told me I was dealing with something called Eustachian tube dysfunction ETD, which is where fluid gets trapped behind my ear and has trouble draining out. She told me to avoid wearing headphones, sleeping on that ear, and to use Flonase or ibuprofen, and that the issue would resolve, but that itβd take time. I asked her if having type 1 would affect it, but she said no.
Iβve followed her tips minus the Flonase, and I feel like my ear gets better for a bit and then starts having trouble again. Crying (which I guess puts pressure on the ears) makes it worse. Also, I still wonder if me having T1 means itβll take longer for it to clear up. Iβm calling my doctor again and asking for a referral to an ENT next week, but Iβm wondering if anyone else w/T1 has dealt with this issue and what you did that helped. Iβm nervous the ENT will say I need surgery or something and Iβve never had surgery before. Iβm also scared that the T1 will make any recovery really hard.
Thanks and happy new year.
Background: diagnosed cochlear hydrops mid-2020. The right ear is usually affected, but my left ear started having issues recently too.
As the title suggests, I currently have a cold. My nose is runny and my ears feel plugged. My ears do not click or pop at all when I swallow. My left nostril seems to be more congested than my right. My voice also sounds muffled through my head on the left side.
I noticed yesterday (before the congestion began) that I have new mild low-frequency hearing loss seemingly in my left ear only. I found this because I have a keyboard playing low-frequency sine waves through headphones between the left and right ear (I test this often for hydrops) and noticed that the tones sound quieter in my left ear from ~800Hz and below.
Obviously, Iβll have more insight when my cold runs its course. But for now, what can anyone tell me regarding this being a harmless cold/eustachian tube phenomenon that is temporary, versus a cochlear hydrops low-frequency sensorineural hearing loss?
For a large portion of my waking hours I am clicking my Eustachian tubes. I find the sensation vaguely similar to the feeling of hydrogen peroxide breaking up your ear wax. Anybody else click this much?
Hello everyone, I would appreciate some insight. I am having a hard time discerning whether my eustachian tube dysfunction is from an allergy or TMJD. This problem began for me after being on antibiotics (antibiotics can change your immune system response = allergies) and dealing with a really stressful situation (stress = more tension in my neck/face) in my life. As youβll see, you could make a claim for either one. I am currently getting allergy immunotherapy, and I am considering seeing a physical therapist.
Here are my facts: β’Serum IgE (allergic antibody) is elevated β’Antihistamines donβt seem to help β’Swollen eustachian tubes β’Normal tympanogram (no negative pressure) β’No fluid β’Tight neck muscles β’No pain β’Effects both ears β’I move my jaw around a lot (biting the insides of my checks and picking at my lips)
Hi Internet Parents, I got covid 2 weeks ago and thanks to booster, sickness wasnβt bad but left me with major muffled hearing in both ears that make others hard to hear and my own voice very loud. Two rounds of antibiotics / afrin / decongestant didnβt help.
I am a musician and the thought of losing hearing scares me. I went to a dismissive ENT who said it could last weeks, months, years etc, and didnβt guide me much. I am wondering, do I wait it out longer, get ear tubes (idk how successful these are), balloon procedure, go to another ENT?
Thank you all :)
Can eustachian tube dysfunction cause Depersonalization? I've read long term vertigo can cause DP/DR... since eustachian tube dysfunction can cause vertigo... Is it possible ETD be a cause of my DP/DR?
I have almost constant mucus drainage in my throat... And my right ear feels congested... Kinda (GLUE EAR) It's been happening since 8 months. I've tried antiboitics and everything... Still congestion is there in my right ear.
And i have almost constant vertigo... (mild though) It seems my Ear Problem is causing my DP/DR and it is so severe that i can't even recognize my family, myself... It's like there's no point in living anymore.
Can anyone relate with this?
He doesnβt think itβs hearing loss because of how young I am and he told me to plug my nose and try to blow out of it and most people can feel it in there ears but I canβt at all. Iβve had it for like 2 years but itβs been worse ever since I got the flu so it kind of makes sense. Hoping it might actually be fixable if thereβs something there.
My Ent doctor told me that some people are not fit for diving and I shouldnβt dive.
I canβt pop my right ear and still have pain from my dive 6 months ago. Contacted DAN a few months back and they told me I shouldnβt dive if I feel pain.
Balloon surgery is not available in my country. So, I guess no scuba diving for me? :(
Dear all, Iβve been a member of this group for a while and thought Iβd ask if anyone has any similar experiences to me. My tinnitus flairs up every now and again and can get quite severe, but usually calms down within a couple of hours.
I feel it is to do with my Eustachian tubes which feel blocked and frequently cause my ears to pop. I have a perforated eardrum in my left ear (which Iβm wait for a myringoplasty - 3rd time lucky maybe) which causes my ring ear to pop. I have had limited success with nosesprays to help. Has anyone had a similar origin of tinnitus and can maybe share any advice. Iβve been a frequent visitor to ear doctors since my teens and they can not seem to offer anything that helps as my tinnitus does go away.
Specifically from otitis media. Tried the hold your nose and blow, heating pads, decongestants. No ear infection just blocked middle ear.
Ladies and gentlemen, over the last 7 years I have experienced chronic and consistent Eustachian tube or left ear discomfort. Iβve been to three doctors with no diagnosis. Iβve had tubes placed in my ears to no relief. In fact, the tubes just add more of a financial burden. I do not know what to do or where to go anymore. I feel like maybe this is a chronic infection or something. I hate itβ¦ I donβt know what to do anymore.
About two years ago, I had a nasty throat infection that spread to my lungs and sinuses, including my ears. I had to go through two courses of antibiotics (azithromycin, clindamycin) before it eventually resolved after more than a month. This gave me long-term eustachian tube dysfunction, requiring me to perform the valsalva maneuver multiple times per day to unclog my ears and stop popping/crackling when I swallowed. I tried using nasal corticosteroids as treatment and they were ineffective.
I recently had COVID and developed a bacterial co-infection, again affecting my lungs/sinuses/ears. My infection resolved quickly this time and it seems to have completely reversed the problems with my eustachian tubes. What might have caused this?
31M, 6'1", no medical conditions or medications.
Several years ago I discovered that I can voluntarily make a clicking sound from somewhere inside my skull. I had no idea what it was but I quickly figured out how to do it on both sides. I knew it wasn't just normal ear popping so I asked my brother if he could hear it and he was like "yeah dude what the fuck?" π
After years of not knowing what on earth this was I found this subreddit (Google searches for "ear clicking" were pretty useless) and listened to a recording of one of you doing it and it sounds EXACTLY like me when I do it. What a weird "skill" we have lmao
Hi, Anyone have a experience with eustachi/earpopper
Thanks!
Hi Iβm a 18 years old, female, 5β2, and Iβm currently experiencing my Eustachian ears clogged for the last 2 days and Iβm having hearing loss. I tried the Eustachian tube exercises and they made it worse. I donβt know what else to do. I take invega, lithium and clonzapam
First of all Iβve had T around the 1.5 months, seen gp who sent me away. I had on and off ear fullness for a few months but around 2 months ago caught a nasty cold that affected my ears real bad, clogged for a week or so. Also went to a nightclub around this time, could be NIHL?
Anyway, two weeks after the cold my left ear developed tinnitus, my T is only in this ear (unilateral), have had ear fullness in the left and when I swallowing there is popping and crackling noise/ popping sensation. I still donβt feel like my ear is cleared. I tried the valsalva technique to force air through my Eustachian tubes, the right ear popped but the left ear (T ear) wouldnβt pop, could this be ETD if I did this could my T go.
It started a couple weeks after surgery and it's driving me insane. My voice and breathing are audible and echoing in my own ear(s)...CONSTANTLY. After doing some research this can start due to rapid and significant weight loss.
I plan on bringing it up with my primary doc next week but am curious if anyone else has dealt with this and your outcome?
I've had tinnitus for 10 years along with a block Eustachian tube , recently it has been alot work feel like I can taste the ringing in my ear any ideas on why this is ?
I have recently been diagnosed by a specialist with thinning of the eustachian tubes but he tells me nothing really works to fix the problem and can often make things worse. Apparently this is a side effect of rapid large weight loss. Does anyone else have any tips for managing this issue?

Hi,
I've had Menieres since I was 14, so about 23 years now. I've done the Betahistine, valerian root, acupuncture, ear tube(still in), diuretics/low salt/low dress(hahahahaha), and probably others I don't remember.
I recently have had my ear tube beginning to not work as it once did, as my old symptoms would only be tinnitus and changing of hearing in my left ear, into up to 30 seconds worth of vertigo at a time that I handle with staring at the nearest intersection of vertical and horizontal lines, and valerian root.
I recognized the slight pain in my left cheek again during some of these small attacks, and realized I've had this pain pretty much all the time since I was diagnosed and probably a little before, and did some googling to find a procedure called the Eustachian tube Balloon. Have any of you tried it?
I realized that the fluid has been working to equalize the pressure through my tube, but maybe there's too much or pressure changes affected my tube in some way, or something; perhaps the main drainage for our ear fluid has been damaged in some way?? I'm starting to call ENTs near me to see if any do this procedure and would love to hear yalls opinions!!! Thanks!!!
I can't make my ETs click unless I do a fake yawn thing. I recorded it on my phone too and the click is quite audible.
Is this what this Reddit is all about?
Mine only started recently and I just put it down to ETD. Thoughts?
Edit: lots of upvotes here! Not sure if that means many have the same question or they are saying yes to the question.
I wanted to share this because it may help someone. This is something I have found to be the cure to my patulous eustachian tube dysfunction so far.
I started birth control in 2019. A couple of months after starting, my ears started opening up inappropriately. I quickly realized if I bent over it would make them shut. This started off mild, and then eventually in the summer of 2020, because pretty severe. It only continued to get worse, and progressed from one ear to both. So I eventually went to an ENT, and he said I was right that I had patulous eustachian tube disorder and suggested performing the procedure they do to put tubes in but not putting the tubes in. He apparently thought this would work. He warned me of hearing loss and I quickly rejected it and left without answers.
I tried and tried and tried to find out what was causing this. I thought it was my TMJ, my clear aligner braces because when Id put a new tray in, my jaw would get irritated slightly and my ear would open on that side. But then I began to notice that when I started my placebo birth control pills, my ear would stop opening completely or as often. As soon as Id start back on the real pills it was back full force. This got so bad this summer that I literally had both ears open almost constantly all day at times. I was so frustrated at this point and had spent a year having to find reasons to bend over in public to close my ears. Id pretend to tie or adjust my shoe, or drop something on purpose, pathetic i know.
So a couple of weeks ago I decided it was time to stop the birth control and give it a shot. I kid you not, about 3 days off of the pills my ears stopped. It's been almost a month and I can still report that my ears do not open. The other day one tried to crack open for a second, but quickly stopped. I flew in a plane the other day too and it was amazing to feel them get clogged up.
I know this is long but I really wanted to post this to help someone. My ENT said the birth control pills wouldn't be causing this, but I didn't believe it after noticing it stopping on placebo pills and then seeing research and one other girl mention it in a youtube comment. So ladies, if you're on birth control, consider quitting it and seeing if it stops yours.
I've had vertigo, headaches, and ear problems for almost two years now. I've seen an ENT, PT, urgent care, and a neurologist. The last few months, my ears have been KILLING me. Like, extremely full, sharp pain, popping in and out. My hearing randomly goes out for a few seconds all of the time. I went to urgent care yesterday after I nearly had vertigo while I was just sitting down. I only ever get it when doing certain physical activity so it was scary and unexpected.
Everything was normal but the dr suspects "eustachian tube dysfunction" and/or chronic sinus infections, though he didn't comment on what he saw after looking in my nose and ears. He prescribed allegra, and antibiotic (in case it's an infection) and a steroid (which I am not going to take unless the antibiotic and allegra don't help).
Has anyone here had this? I haven't been in contact with my ENT for a while and have a neuro follow-up in December. Is this something I can bring up to my neuro? Would they refer me to an ENT if needed? My neuro suspects vestibular migraines but my ear problems can't just be from that. :/ Could allergies be connected to migraines? Or maybe it's all just severe allergies and I don't even have migraines. I don't know. I hate that there aren't clearer markers to use for diagnosis. I'm suffering and all my tests come back perfectly normal. Literally everything is normal except that I get nystagmus...
Here's a blog post from an ENT that describes the mygind's position and technique of using a nasal spray. Basically, you aim the nasal spray straight up your nostril while in the seated position, give it a few sprays so the medication pools up at the back of your nose and then lay back over the edge of the bed and turn your head slightly towards the affected ear. I also do the valsalva technique while in this position and I can feel the medicine going up my eustachian tube. Seeing some benefits after a few days, not totally clear yet, but I will report my results.

can u guys maybe shoot me some good jaw exercises to loosen up my muscles? maybe some good youtube videos u find helpful? thanks :)
My 18 year old has just been diagnosed with this after failing a hearing test twice trying to get into the military. No one including himself have ever questioned his hearing. Straight A student and assertive. He does get his ears cleaned out a few times a year by his pediatrician due to them feeling full or clogged. He doesnβt necessarily feel like he has a cold but definitely had congestion in nose the doctor said. Doctor put him on antibiotics and allergy meds and he will have a chance to retake the hearing test in 2 weeks. Can you fail a hearing test this bad with this dysfunction or are the odds of him having real hearing loss a big possibility. I guess we will see soon but anxious as he wants to be a marine so badly and he can hear everything! Scores were 500 (25) 1000 (35 & 30) 2000 (35dc) 3000 (40) 4000 (30 & 40)
