A list of puns related to "Emptor"
Hello everybody
This is in NSW
Ive recently sold a boat of mine. Steel hull from the 1950βs. Iβve had it sitting on the Hawkesbury river for 6 months, using it every weekend. Previous to this it was down at Port Hacking for 7 years (to my knowledge) and I personally sailed it from Port Hacking to the Hawkesbury.
In the receipt for the boat that both I and the seller signed. I included: βI acknowledge that the vessel has been sold βas is where isββ
I included this due to the vessels age so I wouldnβt be responsible for any issues that may arise being such an old vessel.
The buyer did NOT inspect the vessel and paid me over the phone via EFT. He then later came to inspect the vessel after payment and was happy with it.
I sold him a mooring I had in the Georgeβs River as I still required the one in the Hawkesbury, and he sailed it down there a few weeks later.
He has called me and told me that the vessel has sunk, and heβs brought it up onto dry land and told me that the hull is in terrible condition and he is asking for his money back, and heβd like to take me to court for it.
As far as I am concerned this is not my problem as I owned the boat for 6 months without a single issue relating to the hull, I have many people who have come out on the boat with me who can attest to this. He also successfully sailed it 100km to the Georgeβs River, so I believe the vessel was fit for purpose.
Would he have a leg to stand on in court? Being he bought it sight unseen, signed βas is where isβ, and made a long successful journey before the vessels unfortunate demise.
Thanks for any assistance!
I'm a Zwave-JS user and the lead developer (and team) have been in communication with Silicon Labs about a 700 series controller firmware issue that causes the controller to lock-up. It is most prevalent in "busier" networks with multisensors, but can be observed in a quieter environment, too.
I'm on the Z-wave 7.16.3 firmware (I update from the shipped 7.15 version) on my Zooz ZST10, but it also affects the Aeotec Z-Stick 7, if you were fortunate enough to buy one while in stock. Zooz is aware. I, and others, submitted a ticket and have been getting email updates from support saying they have a notification list when the issue is addressed.
There is a workaround, if that suits your fancy. I'm a glutton for punishment and restart my controller host every 24-48 hours for now.
βHim.β The Zagrian Prime Minister pointed at a name on the projection screen beyond his desk.
βHim? What do you mean?β, The Broker checked his tablet. βOh.β
βThat one.β, replied the Prime Minister. His claws clicked lazily on his onyx desk.
βAh. That one. I β¦ uh β¦ donβt think thatβs β¦ a match. Or ideal.β, replied The Broker. A bluff he had never known he was making had just been called. He struggled to remember the details his father had imparted to him so many years ago.
The Prime Minister was adamant and leaned forward. βHeβs listed. So, I want that one. Heβs your most expensive mercenary unit.β. βWell β¦ uh.β, began The Broker. How much did he actually remember about that monster and how much was his imagination filling in the gaps after all this time?
βHeβs the one we want. Heβs listed. Heβs your most expensive asset. WE. WANT. HIM.β The Zagrian pounded his clawed hand on his desk for emphasis.
The Broker was shaken more than he would have ever admitted. βLook. Iβm required by my profession to list that β¦ asset but β¦ you donβt want him. Trust me.β He was trying to dig deep but he barely remembered the details about that particular asset. But what he did remember was bad. Very bad.
The Prime Minister would not be dissuaded and gestured with his hands. As if he were explaining to a simpleton. βHe costs more than entire regiments you have listed for sale. Youβre a mercenary broker. Thatβs your job. You listed all the various units you represent. We noticed this one was under Miscellaneous. We further β¦β
βNO!β shouted The Broker. And he was starting to remember the murky details surrounding that particular asset that his father had spoken about so long ago. The Broker composed himself and began again. βNot him. He no longer obeys.β

And he apparently goes by the moniker of β¦β The Zagrian checked his own tablet. βMurum aries attigit? My translation team says it means no options remaining or something along those lines. The Broker interrupted, βNot a man. He looks like us. Was born of us. But not a man. Heβsβ
βFor sale.β finished the Prime Minister. An almost predatory sense of self satisfaction oozed throughout the room. The bureaucrats around them stopped wor

On 12/1/2021, I purchased 2 SIM card kits and 3 months of service from Mint.
I have never received a confirming email or QR code and have never received the physical SIM kits.
I have tried to resolve this since 12/1. I have wasted hours on chat and phone support, 2 weeks of back and forth DM with "Alex".
In every interaction with Mint, I would have to explain everything again and again. They kept asking for my order number starting with "MT" which I never received.
When the SIM kits didn't arrive, I requested a refund.
I asked "Alex" to either expedite the SIMs or refund.
"Alex" kicked it to "Executive Support".
I provided everything Executive Support requested on 12/15 (with the exception of the order number which Mint never sent me).
Yesterday, on 12/24, I received this:
"We're sorry to hear that you were not able to use the service as you have expected. Upon further review, we find that we are unable to process a refund since the services are outside of the return policy. Therefore your request has been denied."
No mention of the SIMs.
I didn't even want a refund. I just wanted the SIMs.
Don't waste your time. Stick with the 1st party providers.
Please be careful out there my fellow apes. There are plenty of scammers, especially this time of year. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING.
If you can't afford a $1200 tester, a simple test is the magnet test. Silver is ever so slightly magnetic. A bar or large coin (oz) held at a 45 degree angle should make a rare earth magnet slide slowly off. A fake coin or bar will be revealed if the magnet slides too quickly, or sticks to the coin or bar without sliding at all. I've seen a lot of Chinese fakes out there, so be forewarned.
The ring test can also be helpful. If you're going to do the ring test, drop an authentic eagle on an extremely hard surface from about a foot, and listen closely to the pitch. A free tuner app (such as Pano Tuner) would come in handy for this test. Real silver has an amazing ring quality to it, and a counterfeit coin will have more of a dull thud sound. Every authentic silver coin will also have a specific pitch that can be verified by the tuner app.
Also look closely at the coin itself. Even though the fakes are getting better, with a jeweler's loop you very possibly can spot some flaws, if you know what to look for. Check the edges and the finer areas of the coin like the date stamp or lettering for bad detailing. A legitimate mints standards, especially from a recognized country, are quite high.
There are a lot of independent casters out there these days, and while some of their "art" is quite beautiful as well as amusing, the silver purity cannot be easily verified. I recommend avoiding these pieces from an investment perspective, unless you are buying a piece for the artwork, and not the silver content. Some pieces may actually appreciate because of the artwork involved. Just know what you are buying, and why as well.
Acid testing is very unreliable, as the acid has to be really fresh, and getting fresh acid is next to impossible. Acid testing also puts a mark on a coin or bar that is more or less permanent, irreparably damaging the finish. I would avoid this test completely, as even if you get fresh acid, the results are often ambiguous.
Last, but surely not least, buy from a trusted seller, such as a local coin shop. I don't buy anything from eBay or Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace etc. I consider that gambling, not investing. Don't assume any seller doesn't know what they have. If the price is too good, there usually is a reason for that.
I hope this was helpful to my fellow apes. Keep on keepin' on!
This will probably be removed by mods. But just want to use my terrible experience to help others. Man, I am so bummed out. I've been trying to score a PS5 for months. Always too late for the drops online, etc. 3 months ago I commented on someone's post in r/GameSale. The user was selling a PS5. Deal didn't go through for X, Y, Z reasons. But a week or so later, a different user reached out to me and said he had one. Sent me pics with time/date/username on it. Things looked legit. We agreed on a price and I paid with Venmo using purchase protection.
Guess what, dude disappears for like two weeks. I message him every day. Finally, he appears again. "Lost my phone with my Reddit info on it. I can still send it." Etc. Yeah, no joke. Send it! A few days pass and he's MIA again. He finally sends me a legit tracking number and nothing else. Package shows up and it's tiny. Like a large-ish VHS tape size. I open it and it's a fucking Japanese Gundam model.
I open a dispute with Venmo since I used purchase protection. Well, it's been two months. Venmo has been passing the buck. They've given me no resolution so far and keep giving me scripted email responses. I called my credit card company, since some of the payment had to come from my card by means of Venmo. They say they can't do anything because Venmo isn't a service I actually paid for, it's solely a money transferring service.
So, here I am. No PS5 and hundreds of dollars gone. I feel foolish. Don't be me. Just wait for a PS5 to hit retail. Stay safe, healthy, and happy y'all. And call your family.

I hear often from ancaps that within their ideal society, one would need to research products all the time in order to not buy a toxic product. We see already within our system now that corporations can use many different methods to fool an ignorant populace as to the safety of a product. The recent Sackler lawsuits come to mind. Purdue Pharma used marketing tricks to convince even doctors that their product was non addictive when it was shown to be highly addictive. Combine that with doctors who were desperate for kickbacks so as to kwep their rural practices open, and you end up with the current opioid crisis.
Now I do not understand how that situation would not be even worse under a stateless capitalist society. An individual would have to educate themselves to the point of being an organic chemist to be able to understand the potential addictive qualities of something like oxycontin. Further, even if one were to figure this out, the manufacturer of a product would probably do whatever they could to silence criticism.
In an ancap society one either becomes a victim of shoddily made products, or is coerced into spend their free time reasearching every single buying option they have available to them.
TLDR: Really, really check 5G speeds in your location before you pony up for Sustainer. Personally. With actual equipment. In the place you plan to put your hotspot. Don't believe the hype.
So my Contributor membership was recently up for renewal and I decided to pull the trigger for Sustainer to get the shiny 5G. With the heavy advertising I've seen I assumed the rollout was well underway, and T-Mobile's 5G coverage map had me right on the boundary of "Ultra Capacity" and "Extended Range". I'd been getting about 30Mbps down on LTE with my R910 and was hoping for 150Mbps+ with 5G; I'd have been satisfied with 100Mbps.
No dice. More like 3Mbps down on 5G; and either the SIM is different or the M2000 is worse at LTE, because even forcing the M2000 to LTE only maxed me out around 12Mbps down. In short, 5G and LTE were both worse for me on the M2000 compared to the R910.
It turns out that:
Having learned this the hard way I met up with a friend and we played Hunt The 5G in downtown Boston MA - right where all the 5G towers are, per cellmapper - him with an iPhone 13 with Verizon, me with my M2000. It was abysmal. I briefly saw 250Mbps down; taking two steps dropped me back to 3Mbps. He briefly saw over 1Gbps, but would just as quickly drop to single-digit Mbps also. Good speeds for him didn't necessarily mean good speeds for me; evidently Verizon and T-Mo aren't sharing. Bear in mind we were outside the whole time, maximizing our chances of line-of-sight to a node. If we'd gone indoors... yeah, no.
To say that 5G coverage is spotty is overselling it. I am sure some people will reply saying it's been a godsend, and way better in their area - and to those people, I'm genuinely happy for you! However, to anyone considering a Sustainer membership, I'd strongly recommend personally verifying 5G speeds where you plan to put the hotspot before ordering. The coverage map is way inaccurate, and even where there are nearby towers and nodes, 5G is notorious for not penetrating walls and windows. I recognize that finding a friend with T-Mobile/Sprint 5G and getting them to come over to play Internet Detective can be hard, but that's what you gotta do.
To tie up my story, Calyx ended up terminating my Sustainer membership, adding the year to my old Contributor plan, and crediting my account an extra 3 months. I now also own an M2000, which they
... keep reading on reddit β‘Saw the shango flower sale @ sticky saguaro this morning and got all excited. Placed a Leafly order. No indication anywhere on their site or menu that it was for smalls or popcorn. Ended up still buying 2 eigths of modified bananas since it's so consistently great from shango. Packaged in the generic house flower smell proof plastic sack.
Haven't tried it yet but was annoyed after I got home that they accidentally charged me rec tax too. So had to call and sort that out, which was fine.
Anyway I'll chime back in later after I try it out but overall I'm annoyed and disappointed after driving 30 minutes each way for what is essentially good looking popcorn.
Paid around 27 an eighth before tax.
I'll try to get a pic up when I update later.

Review to come later today....
Update: excellent meds for the price paid. One of the best I've had in a long time. It still would be nice if sticky would label their stuff correctly but I absolutely wont complain about the product for the price point.
I'm looking at some K702's. But, this one store on Amazon has them for $218. While every other place has them for $350+ Legit, or Not?
Lectric is having a Black Friday sale starting today, and they're marking the bikes down by $50 and throwing in $350 worth of accessories for free. Ordinarily, I'd be thrilled about this, but I bought two Folding 2.0 bikes about two weeks ago, paid full pop for everything, and they don't offer a 30-day price match like many retailers. What's really interesting is that one of the accessories they're giving away is the comfort package consisting of the larger seat and suspension seat post, and the ones we bought are still "processing". Sounds like they might be having inventory issues like everyone else.
Anyway, if you've been lurking, buy yours NOW, or wait till their next surprise sale.
Just an FYI for anyone who wants to buy from Kommandostore, for the second time I have had to initiate a chargeback with my bank because they did not ship my order close to a month after I placed it! I placed an order on September 24th, asked about it around October 1 and received a follow-up email, and since then nothing. I have sent multiple emails and received no response to any of them. It is now October 16th, nothing. No shipping, no status updates, nothing at all.
Hello, all, perhaps you can help. I looked through old posts here to see if this would be a repeat. It sort of is, sort of isn't. I just did a custom screen on TD for stocks at 0.0001-0.009, just to see what's out there that might grab my attention. One of the results, $IDVV, was an interesting, curious thing, so I thought why not throw in $100 to see where it lands in the future. TD rejected it, of course, because it's designated caveat emptor, a thing I'd never heard of before.
In all fairness, I'm a newbie to pennies and retail investing. I just spent awhile learning more about what CE means, why IDVV got that designation, and in general, how people buy CE stocks. IDVV has had trading activity on it as recently as Friday. So, this stock does move (albeit slowly), but HOW?! I can't find any actual way to buy a CE stock.
So that's my question: how is this CE stock moving if all brokers I've looked at won't allow buy orders of it? Is it because I'm using a US broker? Do non-US brokers sell them?
I've been with my current job for a year as a hybrid developer and sysadmin since it's always everyone hands-on-deck when the network, endpoints, or in-house application has issues and it's a team effort. Anyways turns out company has not done any penetration testing in about 3 years and we need one yesterday. Does anyone have any advice and things to look out for when looking for pen-testing? The easy and obvious choice is to go with the same company that did it before but thought I'd ask. TIA
For all of the praise Secretlab gets, I thought that getting the new 2022 Titan Evo XL was a no-brainer. Everyone raves about how comfortable they are when they're broken in.
Well... mine's certainly broken.
From the day I assembled it (about two weeks ago) I noticed something was a bit off on the backrest. It wasn't straight vertically or horizontally. I tried adjusting it using the Secretlab document floating around, but couldn't get it straight. So I e-mailed them some pictures and... they basically sent me the same instructions.
But during the time I waited for them to respond (plan on about 48 hours each time), the chair started making noises. First, a major creak in the base. "Send us a video" they said. So I did. And they told me to put some WD-40 on it.
Then the back rest started popping in and out of place, along with the "thump" in the lumbar system that people have reported (and that Secretlab has acknowledged in an e-mail to people who have already given them their money). Secretlab's solution? Wait until November, and we'll send you this kit that has some plastic shims and felt stickers.
Most recently, every time you so much as tap the left arm, it squeaks like you've stepped on a mouse. I decided that was it. Secretlab's response? Send it back at your own expense (the shipping weight is about 80 pounds, and it won't fit in a car).
I know a lot of people are super delighted with this chair, and I hoped to be among them, but their policies and customer service are worse than I'd expect from some rando on eBay.

TD says they arenβt accepting orders on BILBQ because theyβre βnot accepting orders on caveat emptor securities.β Bro, literally the entire stock market observes caveat emptor lol.
At Common Law (the rules of law that have developed over hundreds of years through judicial review, aka not a statute) it literally means, βbuyer beware.β No liability can be placed on the seller in a caveat emptor jurisdiction.
So my question is, if I am buying something that I assume total liability for itβs volatility (and literally all other types of liability), why isnβt my broker allowing me to buy? The nature of the stock market places total liability on buyer, regardless of a companyβs financials.

A note of caution to anyone using independent financial advisers. Never take their word for it. Always read the small print. I got badly burned by a financial adviser, Michael Fleming, who works for Trafalgar International. He set up schemes which ended up making him a lot of money but at my expense. On my pension he set up fees and charges that amounted to 22.3% over the first 5 years! When I questioned the poor performance, he fobbed me off saying that it was down to the market. While the pot did grow, all the benefit went to Fleming and those companies involved. Nearly six years on and I have less that I originally invested. I was a fool for trusting the guy and signing what was put in front of me. I fired him and to be fair Trafalgar International has worked for free in trying to repair the damage. As for Fleming, he smugly said, βyou signed it.β Some painful and costly lessons learned: 1. Never sign anything without reading all the details. 2. Assume they donβt have your best interests at heart. 3. Research them fully online first. 4. Check out to see if they are regulated. 5. Check out the professional bodies they are signed up to as there are codes of conduct that should be adhered to.
I'm sure I'm not the only one here, but has anyone else found themselves with an empty inhaler upon opening? I'm talking about legitimate, sealed, off the rack, real pharmacy benzedrex. It's happened enough times to me to not be a one time thing. Anybody else else experience this disappointment?
