I am working on my dissertation and I have a distinct memory that Zizek discusses climate change (or global warming as it would've been called back then I imagine) as an example of fetishistic disavowal, in that capitalism manages to escape critique during discussions of environmental crisis?
I know Mark Fisher makes a similar point in Capitalist Realism and have those references, but I've gone through my Zizek notes and cannot find what I am looking for... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
In The Parallax View, towards the end of the chapter "Building Blocks For a Materialist Theology," Zizek talks about the paradox of castration:
"...the fact of being stuck with an object with no (symbolic) place, an object which escaped castration. We should therefore not be afraid to draw the ultimate paradoxical conclusion: castration and its disavowal are two sides of the same coin; castration has to be sustained by a noncastrated remainder, a fully realized castration cancels itself. Or to put it more precisely: lamella, the "undead" object, is not a remainder of castration in the sense of a little part which somehow escaped the swipe of castration unscathed, but, literally, the product of the cut of castration, the surplus generated by it."
I haven't been able to grasp the implications of this particular passage. Would be glad if anyone could help out.
I'm going mostly by memory here, so please correct me if I'm wrong. In the Return of the King, the Mouth of Sauron is described as a Black Numenorean who is so old that he has forgotten his own name. Yet even among the faithful Numenoreans, the pure-blooded Dunedain (with traditionally long life spans) were becoming very rare, and in any case even a hundred years or more doesn't seem long enough to lose one's fundamental sense of identity even in the service of a being like Sauron.
IIRC the Mouth of Sauron is also depicted as speaking in an archaic version of Westron, befitting someone who has lived not hundreds but thousands of years.
Finally, he is of incredibly high rank for someone in Sauron's organization, Lieutenant of Barad Dur and it's implied that he is slated to become overlord of all the lands west of the Anduin from his own fiefdom in Orthanc. Sauron must be very confident that this underling will have a long existence with no need for replacement soon (by his standards), and he must also be completely sure of his domination over this underling's will (not setting up a potential future rebel).
Even though the text introduces him as "no Ringwraith but a living man," the above makes me think that the MoS must have some unnatural agency extending his life and subjugating his will, much like the Nazgul. That points to a Ring of Power--not one of the Three (of course) or the Nine, but possibly one of the surviving Seven Dwarf rings. Or perhaps one of the lesser "essays in the craft" that Gandalf described as still dangerous to mortals, probably from Sauron's private collection.
Sauron might have also deliberately given him a less powerful ring so that the MoS could retain a more human outward appearance; and assuming he was seduced to the dark side much later than the Nazgul (perhaps early Third Age), Sauron might have desired to use a little more nuance in his approach; turning a sorcerer of Umbar into an outright wraith might have alerted the Wise to his continued existence far earlier than he intended; so a half-wraith servant with greater independence and outward humanity might have better suited his purposes at that time.
Where does Zizek advance the concept of fetishistic disavowal?
I realize he writes about in multiple places, but Iβm looking for his most thorough/detailed explanation of the argument.

Here's the article. Mr. Krein apparently was someone who backed the President early on with a blog that seemed to have evolved into a magazine/publication called American Affairs. As such, it seemed like an opportunity for Trump's Movement to have an intellectual side. That said, though he still lean right, he left awhile back. Thoughts on his leaving?
One point that I relate with is that Trump's Presidency seems to be a missed opportunity for more substantive policy work, additionally, doesn't it seem like he failed to broaden the GOP's horizons or step out of party line like a more pro-worker agenda by being more of a standard-line Repub then breaking the mold? There's also his hiring record which is messy and I got this from someone else but he could have hired better folks than standard GOP folks, instead what about more non-partisan technocratic competent picks or even "out-of-the box" picks like imagine Elon Musk in the Department of Transportation? For a businessman, someone else mentioned he's rather incompetent?
Also, DeVos and Carson seem poorly received but even they, could those two with Trump if they were ambitious and willing to step out of their comfort zone/ideological lines, they could do more like sacling high quality charter schools in low income areas (rather than axe Charter funding federally seemingly like a backstab families who could use an advocate), expansion of Vo-Tech/Apprenticeships, encouraging affordable housing or the YIMBY Movement (maybe make an infrastructure bill requiring YIMBY-style laws for funding) or helping low income folks by pairing them with supports like special programs at a larger scale, help them climb out of poverty than cut off funding?
Could Americans be more willing to bear with him, if only he was willing to deliver on the issues or show that leadership that the country needs or wishes like at this time?
There's also his rhetoric. Could one blame Mexican Americans for being put off from the President and perhaps the GOP for awhile especially since he blanketed a Judge as a "Mexican" (it's not like he know he was part of the Lawyer Group which while political may also be like a cultural group too), like can one blame someone who values their identity, heritage, community with self-respect to be alienated?
