Im sorry it took this long but I finally called to get my shares registered, but I finally got around to it.
Currently in Canada with CIBC, I called in and made the request to direct register my shares. The lady asked if i meant getting a certificate, and she mentioned it would be through a transfer agent but didnt know which one it was. But that sounded right to me. ComputerShare is the only transfer agent for GME right? Even in Canada?
So the lady said it would cost $50 which is fine, but she also mentioned it would take 4-6 weeks. I asked her why and tried to get an answer but she just said it was because its the holiday season where things take longer. Which I guess makes sense.
I asked her if my account was cash or margin, she said cash; I asked her if my shares were being lent out, she said no; I asked her if I owned my shares in my account, and she said yes.
So given all that should I be worried about the transfer time? Should I call back and try to get someone else to ask questions too? Im just hoping 4-6 weeks doesnt turn into 5-7, then 6-8, ect.
Anything fishy about this?

I saw rumours that NBDB plans to charge for journaling shares (if you want to perform Norbert's Gambit). Confirmed per below.
An extra negative is the fact that if you have a USD and CAD version of an account, they will charge you twice if you transfer to another broker.
Pretty damn disappointing so I guess Disnat is the best commission free brokerage in Canada now.

And before some of you shit bags on here say “Why did you even pick up?”, my caller ID said “Door Dash”, they knew the name of my customer AND what restaurant I was currently en route to. It sounded legit like their usual call reps. They walked me through how to cancel the order, told me about a promotion in my area to distract me, then sent me a verification code which I read to them. I know, dumb of me, but I was in the zone and trying to hurry and make a few more bucks before the week ends. Times are tough right now, right? Anyway, my gut told me it was a scam, I immediately changed my password, my bank account info back, etc. No harm, no foul. I reported the IP to Linode. If you search the community, there’s a ton of scams popping up. Look alive out there.
