Fulton Cotton Mill Lofts - thoughts?

Interested in renting here, looks like the property was sold and is now under new management. Website actually works and is showing some floor plans (with minimal details).

Anyone live here or know anyone that lives here? Any issues with the change in management (I can't imagine it would get any worse, considering how poor their service/website/etc was earlier)?

And if anyone can speak to the different buildings, that'd be great as well. Hoping to get a 1BR (or rather a 1BR with a loft) - there were a couple of these online but both got snatched up really quick :(

Thanks x 100

[TOMT] [Movie] About girl who needs to work in a cotton mill

I watched a movie in elementary school during a unit on the 1800s and child labor about a girl who had to leave her family and work in a cotton mill. I only remember two scenes really clearly. One was her friend started coughing up blood because she had cotton cough and the other was when a girl tried to reach into a machine to grab something and her hair got stuck. It was kind of a gruesome scene for kids to be watching. I feel like she may have been reunited with her sister. The name of the movie may have been the girl’s name but I’m not sure. Any help would be appreciated

Young girl who was sold to a cotton mill with another who was younger.

All I can remember about this book is she was sold to a cruel owner with another girl who was younger. They had to tie their hair back or risk being scalped. The younger girl ended up getting scalped and died. The main character I think took like revenge and fell in love with the owners son?

I read this book maybe 15 years ago. Any help would be appreciated!

Regarding the advaced distillery, cotton mill and coffee roaster from the Research institute.

So, when I first got to know them I thought it was a purely a gameplay centric alternative to ease the "challenge" that is the production of rum cotton fabric and coffee, without much regard for the realistic aspect (I mean, rum IS a sugar cane thing afterall).

But then I just found out that Malt Coffee is a real product! maybe not as good, but real none the less.

My question now is, does potato + coal has a similar or any level of grounding in reality to produce something like rum? how?

And to make cotton fabric, even if we consider its ingame supposed to just be a adequate enough substitute instead of cotton fabric per se, how the hell wood + wool makes any sense? I can see how wool was their only option (because its supposed to be easy and not add yet another new product, thus use a already existing thing), but how adding wood helps?

anyway, Im just curious.

St. George Utah Cotton Mill

On vacation in St George this week. While we are here, we decided today to check out the old cotton mill in Washington. It’s a plant nursery business now but is on the historical registry. Interesting old building.

Sadly, as we were there, I found myself wondering how many actual slaves worked there back in its day? Knowing that there were slaves in β€œUtah’s Dixie”, either owned by converts or paid as tithing, that thought stayed front and center for me.

When the kids were younger, we took trips to most of the main church sites (Palmyra, Harmony, Kirkland, Missouri, Nauvoo). I remember they were great times and I loved seeing the old restored structures. This was my first β€œhistoric” visit since leaving, and the reality of what the church is and what it does makes it just sad to see. This building is not impressive; it is oppressive because of what it was and who had to be there.

Truth is a heavy burden, but a necessary one….
