A list of puns related to "Coloratura"
We all know that MOTS divides opinions, and we think certain things that could have been better, but I think most of us know that Coloratura is perhaps the best of the album.
Volume II is just a strong buzz for now, but is the style and path they took with Coloratura the best basis for creating the next album?
Natalie Dessay?
It's funny how they represent two completely different sides of Coldplay. There's not much needed to say why I love Coloratura- we all do, it's incredible and reminds you why you love this band in the first place. I didn't listen to any tracks before this album dropped and when I saw a 10 minute track coming up after some of the blandest pop songs I've heard in a while, my first thought was 'oh this is them trying to salvage some artistic credibility.' But no, this track is inspired, has great lyrics, a awesome soft middle section followed by another burst of energy and never overstays it's welcome.
My Universe is actually my other favorite- it's a dumb pop song (and I mean that in the most endearing way) that's catchy, has lots of production and melody ear candy to keep you listening and a great use of a featured artist in all honesty- only time I've listened to BTS and they killed it. Lyrics are a bit ehhhh but the melodies are great. Chris' McCartney-like optimism can be a bit much but its forgivable for the most part.
The rest of the album languishes well behind. Humankind is the only one I'd keep because the chorus is catchy but the last line 'capable of kindness, so they call us humankind' is just so horrific, it's nearly all I associate the song with. Biuytiful is okay, I wish the alien voice sounded different though, it's way too cutesy for my liking.
Similar cringe point is People of the Pride coming on with the car commercial guitar riff, I cannot take it seriously as a song at all because of that.
Higher Power confuses me as a lead single because while it has great production, songwriting wise there's barely any energy to it. Coldplay's pretty good for explosive choruses but here it's just not there, super bland.
Let Somebody Go is a song I've heard Coldplay and many artists do a thousand times before a lot more interestingly so I have no qualms about skipping it. The interludes add nothing.
The worst thing about this album is that it feels so utterly inconsequential. I've never been a big fan of AHFOD as an album, but I like a lot of songs on it- it still had the band performing in a direction they clearly loved (even if some fans like me didn't.) Here they sound bored and uninspired and it flows out on this record. If they just released 'Coloratura' as a stand-alone not much would be lost which is a shame. Oh well, would love to hear your discussion!
Just curious π I agree that it is not their best album (VLV imo), but I've heard much worse before...
Edit: okay this is a bit weird, on Apple Music itβs on :22, but on the Spotify single itβs on :24. The infinity station version may vary as wellβ¦ itβs on 22 for me now. You may want to check how it is for you in advance.
Believe it or not, this song from their latest album, is actually one of my favourite songs from the album. I have put "Rock - Alternative" in the genre tag of all the mp3 files from this album on my phone, but with Coloratura, ive tagged that one with "Rock - Progressive".
Ive done this for 2 reasons
A) Its long, its just about exceeds 10 mins in length
B) I also think this song has heavy nods of Pink Floyd, especially with the lush guitar work that appears mid in the song. This song is certainly not poppy, like most of the songs from the album.
I'm not complaining. I'm simply stating the facts.
Happy New Years Everyone. I got the timing right. It was a great way too start 2022
Iβve been playing piano for the last 23 years of my life. Iβve played everything from Bach to Radiohead and written a few things of my own. Iβm not exaggerating when I say learning the entirety of Coloratura was the biggest challenge Iβve ever taken on. Just finished polishing it up after about 4 weeks. (And I thought the interludes on Everglow were hard!) Any other keyboard players out there tackle this beast of a tune yet? Love to hear from you! -Conor
Just curious... Does anyone here resonated the song Coloratura by Coldplay as a song about twin flames? Since I found this song I haven't been able to stop listening to it on repeat. Here's why I think the song plays the experience of a TF journey.
I've been a huge fan of Coldplay since I was little, and so was my DC! It also blew my mind how this song was released in July 2021, the time of my first encounter with him. Anyhow I still find this song incredibly beautiful, I really thought this was one of their best work in this many ten years. Felt the song deeply!
You know what to do folks π
Still haven't gotten over how beautiful coloratura is
Donβt get me wrong, I love Coloratura but I donβt think itβs quite as amazing as people on this subreddit think.
I think in terms of album closers, Death and All His Friends, Up with the Birds, and O are all better songs and better album closers.
What are your guys thoughts?
I had my first ever macro trip last night not really knowing what to expect. Turned off all lights except my multi-color Christmas tree, smart bulbs set to teal, and a galaxy light. About 2 hours into the trip I thought putting on something peaceful and transcendent would be best. Coloratura came to mind. I put it on my 65" tv and lounged back into another world.
I haven't been a huge lover of this song; I like it, it's good. - Last night was nothing short of a life changing night for me. I had it on repeat for 2 hours. I apologize if it's well established that that video was made for people tripping on psychedelics (I'm new to that stuff), but holy cow. That video made me feel like I was in the safest, warmest, loving cloud that ever existed. I felt like I was being bred by the universe with love. If you ever do go on a trip, I highly suggest you spend it with Coloratura.
Weird post, I know. If it's any consolation I was jamming to Clocks, and A L I E N S on my piano earlier in the evening and began learning All I Can Think About is You. Long Live Coldplay.
Itβs great βMy Universeβ is trending; but, I feel βColoraturaβ isnβt getting as much credit. Itβs musically a better song to be honest!
So my question is: on which Coldplay album would you like to hear "Coloratura" other than Music Of The Spheres?
what does it mean. is it spanish, indian or something? why is chris martin appropriarting other languages? white man
Did anyone else notice that the cute little 6 year old who Chris brought on stage for his birthday was singing along to the song???? Imagine knowing the words to Coloratura as a new 6 year old omg I died at how cute that was
Not that itβs completely implausible, but he already knew all the lyrics to Coloratura, when they were showing him sitting behind Chris. Just made me wonderβ¦plucking a young kid out of the audience who already happens to know all the lyrics to a 10 minute song.
Hello guys. Let me preface by saying that I know very little music theory, so forgive me if I use the incorrect terms. Hoping thereβs some musicians here who can give me a quick answer.
I arranged Coloratura on piano a while back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpKrakotLJ4 I am trying to write the sheet music for my arrangement, but don't know how to notate a couple sections.
The 2 sections in question are at:
For section 1, each "phrase" (of which there are 6) has a different number of notes in it. What I did was write them using 32nd notes, and adjust the time signature so that each phrase best fits in a measure. So I start with 4/4, and the remaining 5 measures are 6/4. I notate to slow down towards the end of each phrase, as I play it. Is this the best way to do this?
For section 2, I have no idea how to write. Here I play random notes from the chord or octave on my right hand. How do I notate that? It's almost like a glissando but not structured in anyway. I feel like thereβs probably an appropriate symbol for this kind of jazz hands but donβt know it. I'm not sure what time signature this section is either...
The sheets are done otherwise. Hoping to get this off my plate once and for all, this song was awful to transcribe.
There's been talk about Coldplays People of The Pride sounding kinda Musey.
I went and gave their new album a listen, and found that the last song Coloratura sounds alot like Explorers from The 2nd Law.
The word "Explorers" even appears in the lyrics of Coloratura.
Do you think Coldplay gave Muse a listen before writing this album?
There are songs and albums that seem to transcend anything you've ever heard before and instill amazing joy and love for music, life and everything. This song is, for myself and I suspect a large number of people, one of them.
I'm an old guy. I grew up with 70s prog-rock where songs can run 20 minutes (or more). This isn't novel for me. I whet my teeth on the pioneers of this and similar music.
When I first heard this song, I was awestruck by the beauty of it. I nearly wept. It instilled such raw, powerful emotion and elation in me. I've felt this before with music, of course. But it's rare. It's very, very rare. And those special songs create memories and preferences and bond us to our music. These kind of songs cement our individual, musical being.
This song made this old guy feel young and helped me remember my past milestones on my musical journey.
After the first listen, I had goosebumps for a full minute, and full body shivers at Jonny's solo. It's a really solid 9/10.
This track feels like an emulsification of all their albums combined. There's little elements from each album scattered throughout the track. The orchestral violins tuning at the start from Viva La Vida, the soft, signature upright piano from Everyday Life (especially Daddy), the soundscape of synths from Ghost Stories & Mylo Xyloto, the doubled vocals from Parachutes, and so much more.
Also can I just point out the stank of the bass fill on 2:22, fits in so well and not overplayed!
What I love most about the track is the shear amount of soundscaping that's been put in. We've never heard anything like this from any other Coldplay track ever. The small little scattered elements thrown around like the small woodwind/glockenspiel break at 5:40, and even the huge orchestral build and drop at 1:30. The only word I can use to describe this is earporn.
All the build up at the start is half-heartedly released at 2:41, widening up the soundscape with the wide doubled vocals, Jonny's guitar delay magic at the end, then bringing it back down, allowing Will to enter, initiating another build up to a full release at 3:59, giving out a really satisfying feeling.
The transition at 6:02 is what took me most by surprise. A sudden break into a 5/4 feel, with the choir in the back, and the piano comping in smaller divisions helps to move the entire track forward. Then came the piano break, which is very reminiscent of Muse's Butterflies and Hurricanes at 3:19. It just helps to bring the entire energy of the track down, slowly coming into a stop, with the help of an arpeggiated synth near the end (which is something we heard earlier in Higher Power).
Throughout this entire time, I was wondering where the lead guitar was, the last he played was about 2 minutes ago, and then my question was answered. Two big chord hits, then on the third, the energy is brought back by no other than Jonny himself. This was a moment of pure bliss, having the satisfaction of an amazing guitar solo with the eargasmic soundscape that was built throughout the entire track. What really made the solo more amazing was how similar it was to Fix You's solo, with the guitar slides up and down.
That being said, at 6:57 there sounds like a wrong note in the doubled lead guitar track, which clashed with the main lead guitar. Sounded like he might have slid up to an E instea
... keep reading on reddit β‘I just love Coloratura, especially with the orchestra. What do you guys think Coloratura is about. Also, I love this album.
