I've heard this so much. "Oh Chicago style pizza isn't real pizza, Oh it's an abomination, meh meh meh meh meh" Ok chill. New York pizza takes just as many liberties with "real" traditional pizza as Chicago style does.
"Oh but but it's so different structurally and taste wise and the toppings aren't traditional" guess what? That describes new york pizza! It's covered in grease, is absolutely massive, coated in much different kinds of cheese, uses way more toppings, and uses a very different sauce from traditional Italian pizza.
Now does that mean it's not good? Of course it doesn't! They're all delicious in their own way. But quite frankly I think people who complain about it are just new Yorkers desperately looking for something to differentiate their city from all the others in an era where their garbage filled shithole isn't really any different from any of the other ones.
Looking for a Chicago-style pizza place in LA. "Chicago-style pizza" is not deep dish. Deep dish is the go-to for tourists downtown and what's touted as the quintessential pizza in Chicago. In the actual neighborhoods, we eat tavern-style pizza. It's thin with a cracker crust. Lots of cheese. Cut into squares. Toppings typically under the cheese.
Is there a tavern style pizza place in LA?

As the title says, I like Imo's, Dewey's, Pi, and others, but where can I find a good deep dish like a Giordano's or a Pizano's? Even better if they make it with Provel.
My partner recently brought back some Lou Malnatiβs frozen pizza and it was easily the best frozen pizza Iβve had in my life. Do any local groceries sell a quality Chicago-style pizza pie?
I will admit that it depends where you get it from, but it's still nasty. There is too much cheese that isn't properly cooked, sometimes the sauce isn't even cooked, the only amount of crust you get is on the edges and if it has pepperoni, it's just hot uncooked meat. Chicago sucks.

My wife and I were talking the other day and the topic of Chicago-style pizza got brought up and she told me she has never had it. I wanted to surprise her and take her to a place that sells it but don't know of any. We live in Central Vermont but always open for a drive if food is involved. I was wondering if anyone knows of any or has any suggestions? Thank you!
Title says it all. Looking for the pizza I grew up eating as a kid in Illinois. But I've been looking and here's what I've already found on my own: the two main 'Chicago' places are SOLID, but not really what I'm looking for. Overtime Sports Grill only has the more well-known deep dish-style pizza, and Billy's Old World Pizza has something they advertise as 'tavern style' and, while it's quite good, the crust is far too thick to be the real deal. Credit where it's due though, I got the authentic Italian sausage at Billy's, the main thing you should get on this kind of pizza, and it was fantastic.
Tavern style pizza is not just thin crust, it is a barely-there, insanely thin, cracker crust that should be very crunchy, but not burned. And cut into squares.

Where can I find authentic Chicago style deep dish pizza in Saint Louis? I just had Lou Malnatiβs this past weekend on a quick trip to Chicago and now I have a craving for more! Is the real deal served in stl anywhere?
Really miss it, but haven't seen it in Reading. Any ideas?
