A list of puns related to "Carnivorous Plant"
This is only an idea I just had, I opened up Reddit to see if it was even a possibility before I thought too much into it, but would it be safe to have carnivorous plants in your snake's tank? Of course one's that are small, probably only the venus fly trap, so nothing that would necessarily be dangerous to the snake (assumedly, hence why I'm here).
I thought that, aside from being cool, it could help with the humidty via watering/etc. Yay, nay?
I've fallen in love with pitcher plants but each time I try to grow them in an open terrarium( no matter how small the opening) my cat eats them. I've seen online that they need air circulation but am fuzzy on how important that is. Is there any method or a particular species that would do well in a closed environment? Currently in an apartment in a cold climate so can't really grow them outside either.

I'm looking to get a carnivorous plant and I was just looking for advice on growing one in Iowa. What type would be the best/easiest one to start out with, and what would I need to do/get to care for it efficiently?
Does anyone have recommendations for hikes featuring pitcher plants? My partner and I enjoyed seeing them at Darlingtonia natural site on the coast, but the hike is quite short (.3 miles), so weβre interested in exploring whether there are others. Thanks!
Zone 7, North Alabama. Iβm hoping for something I can keep outside year round! If not then I can bring inside during super hot or winter months.
hi! i have a 10g tank with some carnivorous plants in them. it houses mostly tropical drosera, but i have a few VFT as well in there, a ton of pings, and a nepenthes.
i keep the lid open for a few hours a day for air circulation. & during the winter i lower the amount of light the plants receive, matching the sunrise sunset schedule. my tropical species donβt seem to mind this too much.
of course the tank has a grow light for the plants, stays pretty humid, & there is some mold growth as well as dead leaves from the plants.
now my problem is since the plants live in a bog like environment, which i created. the soil has to stay moist at all times. there is tons of rocks & wood in the terrarium though.
is there any way i can add isopods to it? would they eat my plants, or would their poop put unnecessary nutrients into the soil? (the soil has to be void of nutrients) overall would there be any problems?
what if i purchased tons of leaf litter for them to eat. would this help with maybe drying the surface of the soil layer for the them?
i was told to feed them some dried shrimp mixed with calcium powder. so⦠if it is possible to add them to the terrarium, how often should i feed them that, because they will already have enough leaf litter & wood, along with the algae/mold.
& before you ask, i already considered springtails but they are just too tiny & overall creep me the heck out lol. now cute little pillbugs on the other hand i would feel a lot better about.
please any advice is appreciated! i really would love to make this work, & lets say i have to move a few plants out of the tank or adjust things, of course i wouldnβt mind... thanks so much for the help!
