Caftan Puns

Hi everyone! My wife has been on the lookout for a nice caftan for the summer. She’s going on a trip for a week and that gives me a perfect opportunity to sew one while she’s gone as a surprise. Do any of you have a favorite pattern you could suggest? I’ve hit Google up and all of the usual (The Big 4) come up with hits but I’d like to support smaller pattern makers.

I'm looking for patterns, sources or even a vendor for a good early medieval caftan, preferably that would work for steppe cultures such as the Magyars.

I just learned to sew during the pandemic and been loving making things for my friends. A few of them have asked if I can make them flattering caftans and I'm struggling to find good patterns for sizes 16+. Any pattern recommendations or places that are great for sizes 16+?

I was thinking it'd be nice to maybe make something with an angel wing sleeve and an under-bust wrap? Any other cuts/styles I should look for in a caftan that would be flattering for someone not a size 8?

Confession: I've never made anything for someone over a size 14 and I really want to make something these friends will love and feel confident in. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
