A list of puns related to "Body Modification"
Mother of a baby girl here. I'm sick of people asking me when I'm piercing her ears. I have multiple piercings and tattoos myself but I have those because it was my choice and mine alone.
When my kid is old enough to make a decision about body modification, I'll take her to a piercer.
The idea of holding my baby down and having someone who watched a 30 minute instruction video on piercing ear lobes with the gun is not an idea of solid parenting to me.
Edit: I am also against circumcision. That is also body modification (and completely not necessary).
My biggest interest ever is body modifications. Does anybody else find them cool? I have nobody to share with so I figured Iβd share here. I apologize for the info dump but Iβm so excited about them tonight.
Body mods are so dang cool. Literally you can do so much to add to your body to jazz it up. Piercings, tattoos, tongue splits, eyeball tattoos, tongue tattoos, scarification, northern sense, silicone implants, ear pointing, stretching. Thereβs so many cool ones but scarification is a really neat one. They donβt have to just be cut with a scalpel to be considered scarification, they can be done with a brand (less likely to heal cleanly and legible) or using electrocautery. The scarring is meant to be raised and so sometimes you have to irritate the wounds a bit to get them to scar like that.
My favourite is piercings though. Iβve had nearly everything pierced. My favourite is my bridge piercing, and lots of people ask about it. Usually βwow did that go through your skull?β Which I always think is a little bit funny because how could I possibly get a flimsy little needle through bone? As groovy as that would be, I donβt think it would work out logically. But I work in a store that sells jewelry (cheap, low quality jewelry. I would never recommend it but I am not a professional). And when people come in and ask about it but then act like an expert when I start talking. βI only wear sUrGicaL StEeL cause itβs the bestβ no no no maβam it is not. If you want the best, what you really want is internally threaded implant grade titanium. Surgical steel is way different because itβs likely just a mix of mystery metals. Itβs more likely to be high in nickel which is a huge culprit for metal sensitivities. And because it isnβt polished the grooves in the metal can hold bacteria if you donβt clean it regularly. Not to mention surgical steel is externally threaded most often which causes extra irritation in a piercing. It is βsurgicalβ because itβs okay short term but not to stay in a body forever. Implant grade titanium is what the screws and stuff that fix broken bones are made of. Itβs hypoallergenic and made to be implanted. Surgical steel is also often painted as opposed to implant grade titanium which is anodized to a specific colour! Anodized jewelry is significantly less likely to lose colour and will never chip. Itβs almost guaranteed to stay the same forever.
God I love body mods. Thank you for reading my info dump.
The background: I (31M) live in an apartment on my parents property. I pay market rent, before anybody accuses me of being a dead beat. I have one sister, Tressa (19F) from my moms second marriage.
Tressa doesnβt always make the best decisions. For example, she got pregnant with my nephew Jerry (3M) when she was still in high school. She has really bad impulse control and she thinks she can do no wrong, which means she doesnβt take advice well.
Iβve always been into body modification, I have about 15 tattoos and gauges. My job pays pretty well (Iβm a lineman for a power company), so I can afford it. Tressa has one tattoo, but she wants more.
Anyway, she got her stimulus money recently, and she also has a few thousand from a legal settlement last year. She told me she wants to get an extra ocular implant. For those who donβt know, itβs a small piece of metal thatβs implanted in your eye, and it comes in decorative shapes, like hearts and stars.
I told her she probably couldnβt find an artist to do it. She only has one tat, and in my experience, artists wonβt do extreme body modifications unless youβre really tattooed already. Plus itβs very expensive and comes with some risks.
Tressa didnβt like that. She told me she already found a guy, and Iβd be watching Jerry while she got it and recovered. I told her hell no.
She said she just wanted to feel βwild and sexyβ like other girls her age, and she felt like she was always being pushed into βthe mom mold.β
I told her she is a mom, in fact, and she should just spend the money on her son. Heβs totally obsessed with skating and hockey, and I suggested to use the money for skating lessons.
Sheβs been holed up at her boyfriendβs house since, and she isnβt talking to me. I wasnβt trying to say sheβs a bad mom, only educating her. Extra ocular implants are a big decision, and they can really impact her future. Right now sheβs working BoH at a restaurant, but if she changes fields, itβll be harder to find a job.
AITA?
I wonder if there is a way to change certain body parts with a spell or another occult ritual or something like that. If it is possible and you know how to do it, please pm me if you need more details. thanks a lot
We now there will be body modifications in Double Feature. AHS doesn't really scare me (except Bloody Face) and I'm not afraid of gory kills, blood... But I admit I'm very uncomfortable with body modifications and plastic surgery. Am I the only one ? So I assume Double Feature will be a scary season for me ! Cannot wait :)
So i have this player that wants to play a human artificer that has magic items implanted into their body loke body modifications, and i need something to give them.
Like for example, they have goggles of the night that replace their eyes with darkvison lenses, giving them darkvision or an arnblade that is inside their normal arm, and comes out like a large wolverine claw, or even boots of speed that act like mechanical legs.
I need some more magic item to prosthetic replacement idea
Septim piercing.

Pearling, or Genital beading, to be exact. Can't find any info.
I'd like an implant that automatically and undetectably equalises for me.
Exactly as the title says, I've been searching for an RPG where the players advance through body modification, either biological or mechanical in nature. I'm not looking for RPGs that just have rules for body modification-- I'm specifically looking for games where it's a central mechanic. I basically want players to go from regular people to bizarre cyborgs/genetic monsters. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks!
Basically you can have your consciousness kind of exit your body and your body will be turned to stone and you have a hammer and chisel you can use to make mods to your body like remove fat, add muscle, etc in the same way a stonemason would. You can reset your body to its original state if you don't like your modifications and restart. While you are working on it, your stone body exists outside of the space-time continuum so no one can destroy it or disturb you.
Edit: You can literally change anything on your body like giving yourself facial hair if you have none, changing the length of your limbs (if you want), etc.
Hi all, I am hoping to simultaneously open a dialogue and ask for advice about the issue of body modifications (tattoos, piercings, etc), and its role in a career in academia.
I am a PhD student in the STEM field, and ever since Covid hit I have been trying to live my life for myself and do more things that make me happy. I have wanted a lip piercing for a LONG time, but I refused since it has been hounded into me that body modifications are "unprofessional" and I will have a hard time finding work. Let it be know that personally, I believe body modifications, appearance, race, sexual orientation, etc. do not define a person's work ethic, intelligence, or value as a professional in anyway. However, I am worried that others (future employers) will not see it the way I do. I understand technically it is illegal to discriminate based on appearance but I don't think that stops people from doing so, especially employers. Do you think having a career in STEM makes it harder than one in the humanities? (maybe this is a naive viewpoint.)
What are people's thoughts on this? Should I really just not care and do what makes me happy, or do you think having a lip piercing would honestly impact my chances of landing a solid job with security? I see many people with body modifications in academic careers, but I guess I am worried a lip ring is too "controversial"? Maybe I am just too insecure about what others think of me?
I am hoping replies to this post are both honest, productive and respectful.
I canβt really find anything on the internet, but I was just thinking about how wild it it humans have, for thousands of years, modified their bodies for the sole reason of βbeauty.β What Iβm referring to are things like piercings, forked tongues, lip/ear stretching, tattoos, binding...
I know some animals sharpen their tusks or shed/pluck feathers which could count as βbody modificationsβ but thats not what I mean.
Is it just a trait thatβs uniquely human? Or is there like some sort of species monkey or something out there that also does something like us. Either way, I just wanted to bring to light what a funky human trait this is, that throughout generations weβve been altering ourselves dramatically for beauty and social status- even if itβs at the risk of infection or discomfort.
Think of the "fate worse than death" trope in Body Horror. Tusk, Human Centipede and many more outlandish alterations (impossible for most to actually survive or do aka The Fly) are done against the victims will but if they consented would this be illegal? It's not medicine so they don't need an MD, it's adherent in all ways but if they are of sound body and mind could someone legally agree to be sown into a walrus suit or sown to another consenting weirdos ass?
