A list of puns related to "Beyerdynamic"
I received some Beyerdynamic DT-990s after several years of DT-770s. Figured I'd try them out for a year and maybe really invest in a decent open or closed pair depending on which I liked better. When I received the new headphones the left side is quite noticeably louder than the right. I did the turn the headphones around check and it's very obvious. I tried a few different devices to make sure it was the headphones. I also tried equalizing through software but the right side just doesn't respond at all--it stays the same volume or it gets quieter.
I realize tech support is not allowed here, and I'm not after that. I tried to ask Beyerdynamic to exchange the headphones since they arrived defective and they will not exchange them. They say I have to go through another company that handles warranty and repair claims. When I reached out to this other company they want me to register a new account and send them in to be repaired. Just curious if this is normal in the headphone support realm? I kind of feel like I'm getting the run around but don't want to jump to conclusions.

Hi all! First time poster :D
I'm looking to purchase a pair of headphones that I will primarily be using for FPS gaming (Escape from Tarkov, Rainbow 6, Apex Legends) but also Final Fantasy XIV. My primary pain point with my current headphones (Audeze Penrose) is comfort and I hear the HD6XX and DT990 Pro are very comfortable headphones.
Excelllent imaging is also a top priority (for the aforementioned FPS games). Which one of these headphones would be the best for me? I'm also open to other suggestions in a similar price range (>$250). Of course, good audio quality would be nice to have along with the above so that music listening doesn't suffer.
I will also be purchasing an amp to go with it so if you have any suggestions for that it would also be welcome! Intending to spend ~$200 or less on the amp itself.
Thanks in advance!
I will note that I have seen many posts about this just judging from google, so sorry if this is repetitive, but I want a more condensed up to date opinion on what everyone thinks given my situation.
I got the Beyerdynamic DT990 pro 80ohm (limited edition) and a Magni Heresy, of which both I really love. Recently, one of the sliders (?) on the headphones somehow broke. While the headphones still maintain that glorious quality, they've gotten pretty uncomfortable.
I figured I'd go for an upgrade now, and so I decided to research the same headset but 250ohms -- which I'm assuming gives a more detailed sound provided I have the amp to drive it.
The question I want to ask is if the 250ohm version is really that much of an upgrade. Otherwise I could just buy a pair of the same 80ohm ones, or maybe there's another pair of headphones out there that I should try, in which case budget isn't an issue and feel free to give suggestions.
Bonus question: Will my amp be fine for the 250s?
TL;DR: The title
pretty much what the title says. the volume is good on full level, but it feels like it should be much louder. I dont know if I missed something on the setup though. any tips? thanks! (sorry if this is not the right subreddit)
Hey All,
I got these headphones a little over a year ago and used them as my daily driver. There are some small marks on the yokes and two very faint marks on the earcup (marked in the pictures), but there are no functional issues (these minor blemishes on the yokes can likely be filled in with Sharpie to hide it honestly). Comes from a non-smoking and pet free environment.
This includes the headphones (obviously), carrying case, both sets of stock pads, and the stock cables.
Hoping to give someone a good deal and hope they enjoy them as much as I did!

I recently got AKG Q701, they sound great but they don't have any bass, so I wanted some closed closed back headphones as well. The DT 770 Pro sound like the perfect headphones but I don't know if I should get the 80 ohm or the 250 ohm.
Would the 80 ohm sound okay plugged directly into my laptop. If I can plug it in directly I would want the 80 ohm, but if the 80 ohm will also require an amp, then shouldn't I just get the 240 ohm. Because of the AKG I already have an amp, but it is inconvenient to use and better if I didn't need to.
Are there any other differences between them? Some people say the 80 ohm have a bit more bass, but the 240 ohm have almost perfect bass on the frequency response graph, so it shouldn't be that big of a difference. Also you can recoment other headphones that have a good Soundstage with great bass.
Hello! It's about that time to thin out the herd and I have a pretty good assortment for ya's. Can take additional pics on request. Feel free to ask questions/ pick my mind on my wares. Thanks for looking!

Well loved. Blue carbon, Terminated in 3.5mm. Cable is still in good shape, case has a scuff or two. Won't include size S Comply tips.
Dunu SA6 - $500
Brand new, barely used. This set has a really pretty wood grain pattern that I sorta think looks like a stripe of jade in stone.

Limited set. Light/moderate use. Terminated in 3.5. Includes proof of purchase papers and original receipt.
Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro - $350 SOLD
Bought on ebay as a factory refurb. Used these as daily drivers for two years or so. Surface/daily use wear to be expected. Used the balanced pads exclusively. Also note that these are heavy and have some strong clamping force, so if you have a big head or are sensitive to that sort of thing, you have been warned!!!
Cayin N3Pro with leather case and TPU case - $420
Catch and release, like new. Sweet dap with great build quality. Cayin's vacuum tube feature is awesome and it makes for a versatile lil dap.
iBasso DX160 Blue - $300
Catch and release, like new. Good power and has a really nice looking screen. The oleophobic coating on the glass was applied unevenly at the factory and it makes fingerprints look stripy. Otherwise like new condition.
EDIT : This is the 2020 revision.
Mayflower O2+ODAC Rev. B - $150
Spec'd as: 1x and 3.3x gain, RCA out, 1/4" Headphone out. The pot is a little bit grainy feeling from daily use.

Open box, like new. Screen size just isn't for me.
KZ x Crinacle CRN (ZEX PRO) - $20 SOLD
I ordered the DT 990 pros the other day from Amazon, and when they arrived, the Amazon box was fine, but the headphone box had no tape, and was wide open. They seem fine and appear brand new, but I'm still worried they may have been tampered with. Does anyone with these headphones or another beyerdynamic pair know if this is standard, or should I return them for another pair?
Hi, I am new to headphones(currently use cheap earbuds.) After looking around I am thinking of getting the Beyerdynamic DT770 80ohm. I will mostly just use them to listen to music(rock/pop/hip hop/alt) at home through my phone or laptop.
Is it worth getting a DAC/Amp for this use? If so, I've considered the FiiO BTR5(I would prefer portable), is this an alright DAC/Amp for these headphones?
Let me know any suggestions you may have. Thank you
Whats going on guys good evening, so I been doing some digging around for possibly the best sounding studio-like wired headphones to use for my phone (nothing major) given that I have a pretty good wireless collection already (somewhat of a audio freak you can say lol) anyway right now im looking into the Beyerdynamic DT 770 and my question is do you think if I got the 80ohm version would that still allow the headphones to really show what they can do? Meaning sound quality of course given that iβll be using them with my phone majority of the time. Thanks in advance.
Over the last few years, I've recreationally produced music, and will soon be releasing my first solo EP. Before I started producing, I used my Beyer's for everything - gaming, listening, general use - and always loved them. They sound fantastic, and have amazing detail, clarity, and airiness. However, my experience using them for producing has been less positive.
I would make compositions that sounded great on these headphones, but when I listened to the mix on any of my other audio sources (M50x, car speakers, airpods, etc) it would sound muddy and oftentimes straight up bad. All of the subtle details and separation that was obvious on the DT 1990s would be totally lost on pretty much all other sources. After noticing this pattern, I made a few little beats while using my M50x's and the results were MUCH better. My mixes popped even more when I listened to them on the Beyers. What I learned was that if I could hear details on the M50x's, then they would be crystal clear and stand out on the Beyers (in a good way), and also sound good on other less-than-ideal sound systems.
Have any other producers had this problem where their high-fidelity equipment actually gets in the way of achieving good results?
There are some blemishes on the cups from where the yokes rub, see pictures. Sold to u/Llew007
These are basically brand new, hardly used and look it. Sold u/scttooo
Used for about 8 months at a desk. Upgraded to 1990s reason for selling. Shows normal wear nothing excessive. Want $110 shipped. stamp
Currently i borrowed some hs50m monitors which i love, but miss the lowend to do proper mixes. Found a nice deal on a openbox hs8. Went with that, but for now i will be having just one piece of that. Will add the 2nd in the near future. But now im wondering if im better off getting a beyerdynamic dt880 with sonarworks for the low end? i have another samson sr850 but not really feeling that one.
Room is a 4mx3m rectangle shaped room with speakers placed in the middle about a meter away from the backwall. And got two reflection panels on both sidewalls. (will add more in the feature)
the yamha hs50m i will probably have for a long time (original owner never picks them up so i get to use them for now)
What will you pick?

Hello, I was surprised these came in the mail today early and tried them out for a while, I bought them because I guess this is my life now. Here are a few quick thoughts before the holidays:
What I noticed first was these have alligator levels of clamping force and could almost pass for hearing protection levels of noise isolation. I put them on and instantly tinnitus all around. Good for gaming immersion maybe? But this clamp is just WAY too much, I need to figure out how to tone it down somehow and soon cause as it stands these aren't gonna last an hour on my head.
Sound - they sound really good. Subjectively not always as good as my denons (give and take, hard to do a ton of A/B testing before my brain adjusts) but honestly a similar sound! And in cases where the Denon AH-D5200 overdoes it in bass the Beyer's lack this issue. They do NOT have the piercing DT770/MMX300 treble but if the original recording is harsh you will still hear it some but I listened to some of my "problem tracks" and made it - I would describe the treble in these a 9/10 in terms of harshness, they are ALMOST harsh but not quite. Soundstage is small but imaging is pretty good - better than the denons however the denons position music in a more pleasing way overall whereas if something is centered on the 700 pro X you are gonna hear it smack dab in the center. Mids are forward when they want to be, not as recessed as something like the shure 1540 but just a hair back from the denon 5200 which I would describe as having very forward mids. I heard DMS say these lacked detail but honestly they aren't bad at all, I listened to a bunch of Jazz from my Gran Turismo CDs and they don't strike me as terribly "soft", moreso they aren't pushing the detail that is there right in your face - they are probably somewhere in the territory of "average" for $300 hifi headphones. The MMX 300 are the same price and I would say they are close in terms of everything but you need to be willing to deal with some SERIOUS EQ if you are like me, they maybe sound a tad cleaner at the end of the day and have wider soundstage but boy did those hurt me ears.
Initial overall impression? For $300 these could be a really good all rounder, they don't really need EQ at all and if you want sound isolation these could be your go to cans.... IF I can figure out something to do with this clamping force. My head hurts as I type this I am not gonna lie this is not like a warm hug on my head this is like a lobster claw,
