Althusser and base/superstructure reciprocity

In On Ideology, Althusser mentions that the superstructure reciprocaly influences the base. How and what does he think has changed in the base?

I'm building a sorta-hobbit house and could use some advice on the logs for the superstructure

Hi there. I'm in the early stages of building a "hobbit house". I hesitate to call it that as it is not a classic "earthen" hobbit house but that's what my wife calls it so I'll go with it for now (I prefer Beaver Lodge).

Anyway, I have done the general excavation and will be putting up a /r/DIYinprogress album for feedback as I go.

But first, I need a little guidance on the logs that I will be using for the main superstructure.

I built a 1/12 scale model. Here's a pic: http://imgur.com/a/kXOQm

The main beam is the largest - 18-24" - 45' long. The next two ribs on each side need to be 40' and a bit smaller diameter. The front two (that support the main beam) and the cross beam between those two needs to be 12-16" - 30' long. So 7 logs total.

I have straight pine on my property that I can use. I'm just wondering about the longevity of using pine for the superstructure. Thoughts?

I am considering using oak logs but I would have to buy those and have them shipped. Any idea what cut unfinished logs like that run?

Thanks in advance.

Finding it hard to 'debunk' hypergamy but it's also being used to justify far right superstructures by tradcons. Solution?

I came to the men's movement from a Marxist feminist perspective, but didn't know it at the time, so I had to wade through literally 5 years of being groomed into the Right by PUAs, Red Pillers, libertarians and traditionalist conservatives. MRAs did everything they could to stop me from bothering to read feminist theory, within which I saw that a lot of the feminism they were concerned with was essentially just rainbow capitalism and neoliberalism for women. But in my time in the movement I have seen the discourse gradually go in one of 2 directions: Libertarian vs. Tradcon. Clearly we leftists are a minority and everybody from Paul Elam and Karen Straughan to Michael Buchanan refuses association with us. MGTOW has gone underground but it looks like it continues to organise and thanks to far-right (AnCap) speakers like TurdFlingingMonkey the movement is heading in a direction of restoring genuine semblance of industrial patriarchy a la the early 20th century.

I have a tradcon friend slowly turning into a new flavour of a hybrid of Ancap and crypto-fascist patriarchy as a result. His logic is as follows

"The more equal you make men and women legally

The more exaggerated sexual inequality becomes

Egalitarianism won't change this because it's rooted in biology"

He has stopped caring for the MRA solution because he has lost hope in the reality of equality being possible.

I've seen this pattern happen many times to other guys (and it nearly happened to me but I'm notoriously paranoid) but it's becoming more politically organised now. I don't know how to help because

a) the existence of things like incels and the 80/20 rule to hookup culture give evidence that there is some form of sexual selection going on. It is frankly my experience that most socialist places are feminist and somewhat gynocentric (women and 'feminine' values have ultimate authority), red pillers are correct in this and use it to groom young men to the right.

b) I am a little scared, he lives in the US, I live in a disarmed place, my country is also going through an election which may leave us politically and economically dependent on the US

c) I grew up with a needy father being 'whipped' and disrespected by my mother so I definitely am aware that total absence of male chauvinism breeds sexual contempt for men in (most) women

d) I spent over 6 months trying (albeit with totally amateur research skills in the scientific method) to try and disprove hypergamy and failed
