I've always been going to an Assembly of God church (still do, parents force me to ;^(), after reading around this sub reddit, it seems many see it as a less desirable fundamentalist group. I never really viewed it as an extremist fundamentalist church, yes, my church is very conservative, but they never militantly protest against homosexuality and never talk about controversial stuff like homosexuality. But, if you ask anyone in the congregation, they would probably say "homosexuality is a sin, nothing more to it" or other things like that. My church is very modern as well, with very modern christian music, a big millennial influence, and diverse people (Latinos, African Americans, probably some Homosexual people [probably closeted]). I seem to find myself confused, is this normal for Assemblies of God, or is just my specific church/pastor's message?

My mom, raised in Texas, used to attend segregated, 8 to 10 day assemblies.
They had to research "wordly" and non-wordly black people to stay with, since Blacks weren't allowed in the hotels, and surely the white friends couldn't have us in their homes.
Of course white people could come to Black assemblies, but not the other way around.
But they had the truth though.
