A list of puns related to "Ashcan"
Hiya,
For the next campaign I'm playing, Innsmouth, I would like to play Ashcan Pete. My brother will play Jacqueline Fine, so it's a 2player campaign. We played the base game, Dunwich, Carcosa and TFA on easy, so we are not experts in the game :D Also, Iβm not a native speaker, so please apologize mistakes.
My plan is a Dark horse deck, but with On your Own (the permanent one), because I'd like to try the cool survivor events and I think the staying-poor mechanic synergizes well with Dark horse. Also I think it's very thematic for a survivor, who doesn't need allies besides his loyal Duke.
I read very much in this subreddit and I'm impressed about all the knowledge in this community, so I would love to hear your feedback for my plan. My card pool: Base game x2, complete Dunwich/Carcosa/TFA/Innsmouth, Before the black throne, all investigator packs except the rogue one.
My raw Deck plan: Maybe 12 Assets, 10 Events, 6-8 Skills.
A few questions, feedback is appreciated:
First post/trade here and really like the community so giving it a go!
Looking to trade this unique comic for something for a sub-one-hundred FF or Iron Man.
I'm looking for specifically:
Iron Man: 4,7,10,17-20
FF: something between 50-100 - I know its vague but quality of comic will quickly rule out most trades below #50 in FF :-)
Open to suggestions also!
If you've been itching to play an rpg that combines monster hunting, dungeon delving, anti-capitalist corpo killing, and crust punks, then we've got you covered!
CRUST is a game that has been in the works for nearly 9 months, and we've finally reached a point where we've decided it's time to get some funding under our belts for our long term goal of a 100 page full scale system.
At this point a good chunk of the bones are finished, and a ton of the writing, so we're releasing an Ashcan of the game to help fund our next steps!
Contributing to the ashcan will get you all the very basic rules you need to jump into the world of M-0847, make a crustie, and kill some shit. But the game in the future will have FAR more than that. You'll get regular updates to the game files as well, up until our full release is ready to launch.
If this sounds like something you're into head over to our itch page and take a look!
CRUST is an OSR inspired hexcrawling, dungeon delving, monster slaying rpg, set in the 1990s. Youβll be playing as crust punks on a hostile planet owned and mined by the CORPOS.
The game uses a dice pool system Iβve developed similar in vein to the YZE system. But most, if not all of the rest of the game is overly OSR inspired.
This ashcan contains all the rules youβll need to get a game going at the table, but there is A LOT to come, many updates to the ashcan, and a full scale release in the near future.
The game is explained in more detail on the game page so take a look if youβre interested, and if youβre unsure about the $5 price tag, thereβs a $1 βcurious about thisβ option!
Thanks for your interest in advance! π€

... keep reading on reddit β‘There were four ashcans related to the 1963 series. One for the "Fearless" Fury, (a change from the published title), and one for N-Man, and a third for Horus. The last of the four was "Mystery, Inc." I'm wondering if anybody here has a copy and can share details of the contents. A banner on the cover (at the top) reads: "First Look! At 3 All New 1963 Features!" The first three ashcans offered a wide range of features, including preliminary sketches and penciled pages... what about the fourth?
Hey, I'm playing my first campaign beyond the core set and working on building a Mark Harrigan deck to work alongside Ashcan Pete who is pushing towards a Dark Horse clueverer kind of build. I'm working with two core sets, all of Dunwich, all of Forgotten Age, all of the investigator starter decks, and the initial boxes for Insmouth/Carcossa but none of the later card sets from those. Currently I'm really liking the idea of using and updated Grete Wagner/updated Beat Cop build with Charisma then working towards getting flamethrowers and well prepared running to allow me to be a decent off-clueverer main killer. I'm thinking about running the following starter deck to achieve this with the double prepared for the worst being in place mainly to assist with the slow development towards double flamethrowers in the deck. Thoughts and critiques very much so appreciated!
Assets
2x Grete Wagner:The Purifier (Nathaniel Cho)
2x Safeguard (Nathaniel Cho)
2x Guard Dog (Core Set)
2x Flashlight (Core Set)
1x Smoking Pipe (The Miskatonic Museum)
2x Painkillers (The Miskatonic Museum)
1x Sophie:In Loving Memory (The Path to Carcosa)
2x .32 Colt (The Path to Carcosa)
1x True Grit (The Path to Carcosa)
Events
2x Dodge (Core Set)
2x Emergency Cache (Core Set)
2x Taunt (The Dunwich Legacy)
2x Shortcut (The Dunwich Legacy)
2x Prepared for the Worst (Blood on the Altar)
2x "Let me handle this!" (The Path to Carcosa)
2x Trusted (The Forgotten Age)
Skills
2x Vicious Blow (Core Set)
1x The Home Front (The Path to Carcosa)
Treacheries
1x Random Basic Weakness (Core Set)
1x Shell Shock (The Path to Carcosa)
Can someone explain me in depth what is an ashcan RPG, if that is good or bad, and when one should release something as an ashcan?
This has really bugged me out because the word itself sounds kinda offensive, and I can only find definitions in the context of comics.
Not the best deck builder by any means, and to be honest I only play AI and Lab these days. But, with AI's huge bump up in quality I think this deck could do well.
Zil is there because I just don't have a third Akshan yet, I could grab him if I wanted but just prefer actually getting use out of vault chests. Anyway, this is Akshan and Soroka. They are a perfect match. Get Akshan out and use Astral Protection on him ASAP. Then continue hammering while counting down his landmarks (goes surprisingly quick). I've leveled him every game and some games had multiple landmarks go off. It's fun and satisfying to do it...yet I don't think the Landmark effects are that OP. There are probably other cards released in the set I could add, and I just recently threw in Star Spring for an Alternate win con, but don't think it's actually that necessary. Enjoy! Iβve seen it on a few comics from different publishers but have no clue what it means and on some comics the Ashcans seem cheaper than regular printing but on others seems more expensive.
Effective the 23rd.
My boyfriend and I are about to start our first Dream Eaters campaign and Iβm planning to play as Ashcan Pete. This is my first time with a Survivor - whatβs a good pairing for Ashcan Pete in a two person group?
I'm not a native english speaker so maybe it's just a way to refer to people without home, but as I understand, ashcan is the same as a trash container. Why does he have this alias?
Just thought I would post about my experiences playing Novella Roland in true solo, building around the flamethrower - what worked, what didnβt, and a comparison with Ashcan
All of my plays were on βeasyβ
So firstly I took Roland through Dunwich. He fell down toward the end of where doom awaits. I then decided to take him through a standalone of lost in time and space using 19 xp for the build which was what I had at the end of where doom awaits. He failed
I tweaked the build and tried lost in t and s again. I did this about 8 times. He failed again and again etc until I finally got a moderate win - closed the gate but didnβt escape.
For comparison, I then built a deck for ashcan and played him through lost in t and s. I only used 16 xp for him. This was the first time I had built and played Ashcan in Arkham Horror. He got the complete win with quite a few rounds spare before Yog Sothoth was scheduled to show up
Admittedly, I knew the scenario well by then, but I knew the scenario well after the first few goes with Roland as well
Coming back to what worked well with Roland, without going into every card, for clue gathering I relied heavily on fieldwork, inquiring mind, perception, working a hunch, mysteries remain, art student and keen eye. Also Rolandβs kill monster and get clue ability
I used 2 x disc of itzamna as a support βweaponβ and it worked beautifully alongside the flamethrower. In fact, because it is actionless and testless it was a life saver. The only real downsides being you canβt earn vp and you canβt activate Rolandβs ability. But there arenβt that many vp rewarding enemies and you donβt always have a clue on your location when facing an enemy so the upsides are significant especially when facing a 5 or 6 health enemy. With the flamethrower itβs a minimum of 2 actions to deal with them. With the disc itβs zero actions with no tests. In some ways it was the star and the flamethrower felt like the support weapon
I didnβt run pathfinder. This might have helped pick up the pace, but it competes with weapons and horror soaks, both in terms of xp to put it in your deck and available actions and resources to play it in the game
With 2 x flamethrower, 2 x extra ammunition, 2 x disc of itzamna and keen eye, thatβs 19 xp right there.
Also if you want 2 pathfinders in play thatβs 6 resources and 2 actions to play, competing with weapons and horror soaks in an investigator who relies heavily on weapons and horror soaks and who isnβt flowing w
