A list of puns related to "African Great Lakes"
I know there was some trade between North Africa and West Africa and East Africa, but did West Africa engage with trade with East Africa or Central Africa, espicially since the Sahel was fairly habitable
I'm looking for a comic most likely starring Scrooge McDuck (it may have been Mickey Mouse, but I doubt it) that I read around 10 years ago.
All I remember is a plot point involving The African Great Lakes. A very old map was found, that showed that two of the lakes were actually connected with a river (this isn't the case in the comic, nor is it true in the real world). I'm 100% sure one of them was Lake Tanganyika, the other one was either Lake Victoria or Lake Malawi.

Anyway, over the course of the comic our heroes somehow end up witnessing the event that led to the lakes being disconnected, it involved some giant laser-thing firing between the lakes, and I think the aliens did it (not sure about that one). Of course it happened in the past, so time travel was involved.
I tried searching through https://inducks.org/ , but nothing came up.
Registered in Arusha, the capital of the EAF, the African Great Lakes Railway Company (AGLRC) has been formed. The Private African Corporation is a privately owned venture between GlobalRail of Ecuador (75%) and the CAD Fund (25%).
The venture's main goal is to provide the first privately funded new railway in Africa in over two decades. The African Great Lakes Railway will connect all bar one of the lakes in the African Great Lakes region. The 2250 (approx) KM railway was envisaged by GlobalRail CEO, Michael Ross.
The $50,000,000,000 project, of which approximately half is on rail construction, will be paid for by it's members. The project is expected to bring lots of jobs to the Great Lakes region and create a large trade corridor with rail links to the Tanzanian ports at Dar es Salaam and Tanga. The project will take seven years and has already been approved by the EAF Federal Government.
The popular grand strategy game Europa Universalis IV depicts this region as a large chunk of impassable wasteland, indicating that it is unfit for colonization. This is presumably intended to represent how European imperialists did not penetrate into the African interior until the Scramble for Africa of the 1880's.
However, an unfortunate side effect of this design decision is that there is no representation of the various states and empires that existed in this region prior to colonization, or even of the fact that there were people living there at all.
There is also a question of internal consistency, since a variety of "primitive" societies indigenous to North America, South America, and Siberia are recognized as "states" in this manner, ostensibly on the basis that they had more significant interactions with the outside world (i.e. European colonizers). The game's conception for what constitutes a "state" is rather Eurocentric, but it seems rather dubious to me that this construct can be applied to Native American societies but not states of the African Great Lakes.
ATTENTION: THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS SPECULATION IN ITS ENTIRETY. DO NOT TAKE WHAT I SAY AS FACT. THIS DOES NOT REFLECT THE PLANS FOR THE GREAT LAKES GOVERNMENT THAT THE KALTERKREIG TEAM HAS FOR A FUTURE UPDATE.

As the fire rises across the former United States, the disparate republics in the legacy of the former US seem to increasingly threaten one another. The most terrifying issue with this development is that with the new Progressive Government in power over the AUS, the conflict seems to begin to take a similar shape to that of the Second Weltkreig. On the one side, the Titanic power of the AUS has largely sated the demands of the few remaining dissidents, and is increasingly aggressive in it's posturing to retake their lost lands, while the Liberal Democrats in New England, and Republican Party in the PSA seem to be equally postured to fight back to near-death against the new Kingfish.
The Great Lakes Government, as the reconstruction government begins to step away in favor of a new Republic, is caught directly in the center of the crossfire. With near-equal swaths of it's population in favor of one side or the other. However the new government cannot betray it's former Canadian occupiers due to their frequent remaining agents among the Great Lakes cabinet. Though outward debate concerning the economy seem to dominate the discourse of the state, internally away from prying eyes, the parties also differ on how to handle the dissidents within the mandate.
Furthest ledt on the political spectrum is the Democratic Farmer-Labor party. Their progressive stance seems to have the most favor among dissident elements of the DSA. Though Hall, himself, insists on the continued solidarity of the class struggle within the GLG, many members of the organization would be more supportive of the actions of a progressive government, however the actions of the Young Americans League, dissident sympathizers to MacArthur's failed regime, would be further enraged, and may attempt a coup during wartime. Outwardly the Farmer-Labor party emphasizes the importance of robust social programs and often cleverly enacts policies similar to those the IWW had pushed during the war.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Republican Party has yet to rend it's schism between the Establishment Liberals, and the hardline anti-communist MacCarthyites. Their hardline rhetoric seems to have the most fa
