A list of puns related to "Activated Charcoal"
I have been seeing an increase in the use of activated charcoal in cooking again, and I thought I would post a reminder that activated charcoal is effectively a medication (used by medical professionals to absorb poisons in some circumstance) and should not be used in cooking. Best case scenario, you are not on any medication and all it does is absorb any vitamins you are currently digesting. Worst case scenario, you are on medication, and it will absorb your medication rendering it ineffective. (If you are worried about things like toxins, your kidneys and liver's jobs are to remove them).
If you want to get that intense black color, there are better ways of doing it. For savory foods, Squid Ink can give an intense black. For Sweets, Dutch Processed Cocoa will give that color. Dyes have also gotten better at giving us colors like black.
If you have any suggested ways of getting that black color that I am forgetting, please comment!
Does it matter if it's meant for air fresheners, aquariums or as a supplement?
Activated charcoal seems to be a huge fad over the past few years but Iβve read so many contradicting articles and studies on its actual use and efficacy. I know it is used in the hospital to treat extreme toxicity levels but can the same principle be used to treat regular drinking or βdetoxingβ your body?
I am curious if anyone has tried an activated charcoal shampoo (rusk puremix activated charcoal shampoo) to cure dandruff?
I was also thinking of using Trader Joeβs tea tree tingle.
My derm perscribed nizoral 2% but I am afraid to use it because people have gotten worse symptoms
Hope this allowed here, just moved to Brisbane and exploring my options to get rid of the lingering cigarette smoke from my new apartment. Anyone know of anywhere that sells activated charcoal that I could buy in store?
I have been diagnosed with both Sibo (second time) and H. Pylori as well as the parasite Blastocystis Hominis. Fun times. Anyway, I got prescribed Tetracycline and Mertonidazole (Flagyl). So my question is, should I take activated charcoal with these to help bind to the toxins so I donβt put my body through too much?
title says it all, I just want this out of my system ASAP. Thank you.
Indian cooking smell permeates the entire house and travels to my bedroom. My clothes all smell like it. What would be best to put in my bedroom, baking soda, activated charcoal, or coffee grounds? Or is there a better way to resolve this? Thank you.
I just stumbled across a bunch of articles that activated charcoal helps decrease brain fog. Has anyone utilized it here consistently? I just bought a fresh squeezed juice with Charcoal and ACV so hope I will see results. Will supplement daily if people here has shown success
Iβm not doing this for health reasons... there is a new ice cream place near me I want to try out and their ice cream cones are made with activated charcoal. Just want to know whether I should avoid it! I question how much charcoal is actually in the cone... but unfortunately they donβt have normal cones.
Iβve been out of the ED for a few years (outside of floating when they need help at least) but I have noticed recently when I get med OD patients in the ICU a couple havenβt gotten activated charcoal in the ED which was the standard of care back when I was down there.
One of my friends down there said some of the newer attendings donβt think thereβs robust enough info supporting itβs use and Iβve noticed poison control doesnβt ask me if they got it when I call them to report an OD anymore.
I did some lit review on PubMed and it looks like recent research doesnβt support its use but truthfully a lot of medical literature goes over my head at my current level of education so I wanted to ask you smart EM and Tox docs what your opinion is!
Edit: bonus question has anyone started to see a big uptick in Amitriptyline ODs recently? When did people start prescribing TCAs again?!
As Iβve been dealing with major leaky gut sibo etc I decided to add in charcoal to make any die off easier, but damn Iβm getting some sode effects such as severe nausea and stomach pain and even more fatigue. And almost feels as if itβs causing die by itself. Iβve been told there was little to no side effects of these, can anyone relate to this ? Any info appreciated
Hi everyone. I woke up this morning with a stomach ache and have been to the bathroom a few times. I feel super hot but have some chills to. Canβt tell if this is anxiety or not but my stomach is definitely acting up. Has anyone tried activated charcoal? I think I should take some just in case because Iβm really stressing. Iβve only eaten a few crackers today so Iβm not sure if I can take it or not or how much. Advice please anyone??
