What about Zak Starkey? (Grammy Special)

Sorry I am a little late to the Grammy Party:

I have seen all of the "controversy" over Julian Lennon not being at the Grammy Show but I want to know where Zak Starkey was?? IMHO He is the most talented spawn of the fab4 and would have loved to see him drum on a song with someone like Dave Grohl. He seems to be impossible to find out about on the internet. What gives Zak?

Zak Starkey, Dhani Harrison, Sean Lennon, and James McCartney have all followed in their fathers' footsteps. They even look alike. DAE think they should do a Beatles revival?

Even if they just do one album, I think that would be amazing. It just seems like it would be perfect if it ever happened.

Really?

So many people here have stated that Keith Moon gave Zak Starkey his first drum kit. From the interviews I've gathered it suggests that Kenney Jones gave Starkey one of Keith's kits and Kenney taught him how to play. What's everyone saying about this?

Musicians with famous parents: A recipe for failure?

I've been thinking during the last few days how rare it is for a musician with famous musical parents to ever eclipse their output, either commercially or artistically. When I run through the list of musicians with offspring that have eclipsed (or at least equalled) their most vital output, the number that comes to mind is very small.

Jeff Buckley's short burst of creativity resulted in a limited discography that is certainly the equal of or greater than Tim Buckley. Dweezil Zappa is a great guitarist in his own right, but still in the shadow of his famous dad. Same with Ravi Coltrane, who has the mixed blessing of being a talented sax player and having two parents with intimidating musical legacies.

The list of famous musicians with middling (or at least competent but unremarkable) musical progeny is longer than I care to list, although Jakob Dylan, Julian Lennon, Sean Lennon, Alexa Ray Joel, Leah Weller, Zak Starkey, and Dhani Harrison all come to mind.

Of course, commercial success is only one fairly swallow measure of achievement. Cultural impact and legacy are others, although it would seem by most measures musical progeny, as a general rule, underachieve in these areas as well.

Two questions to set up: 1) are there more examples of musical progeny that have equalled or eclipsed their parent's output? And 2) is the advantage of having connected parents who can set up their kid's careers more of a hindrance in the long run? Is being a rich kid with too much cash to fail a factor in a failure to launch artistically?

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Dropped my best ever dad joke & no one was around to hear it

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
