I'm working on an urban fantasy that includes the existence of a fantasy world connected to our own via several portals all around the globe. These portals remain dormant most of the time, but every few hundred years they start opening for a few hours at most. Myths about mythical creatures such as dragons and elves are just faint retellings of real events that came as a result of people and animals from that world accidentally or purposefully crossing into our own.
So my husband got a job at Publix in July; it's his first job in the US. He is working 40hrs a week but they are being very shady about bumping him up to full time. Every one says he is doing great and they keep on saying good things are on their way but I'm confused about the situation.
Is this normal company policy?
How much of a pay increase do you get when you go to full time?
Does having a college degree matter at all in terms of pay?
Thanks for answering my questions, sometimes I think his language barrier is preventing him from understanding everything.
I'm from NiΕ‘, and our city is also called Vilin Grad (The Fairy's City) according to a (presumably) Celtic fairy goddess. According to a legend in our town, the town of Vidin in Bulgaria is our sister town as it was created by the fairy's sibling (i forget the name of the sibling).
I also know of the vila Dimna Juda in Macedonia and about the vila of ShkodΓ«r, known from a story (the Building of ShkodΓ«r) that both Serbs and Albanians learn (all be it a bit differently). We also learn about vila Ravijojla who appears often in stories about prince Marko β a folk hero.
So my question is are there also vila stories in your areas?
My beef with Harry Potter or the Spiderwick Chronicles is that by having it take place in the real world of planet Earth, its lore is tied, or constrained to a sense of realism based on our world's image. It doesn't leave as much room for imagination or creativity. You have to make monsters and stuff invisible or secret to normal people. They're not bad, but much less imaginative.
Entirely fictional settings like Middle-Earth from Lord of the Rings or Lothric from Dark Souls allow the person taking in the story to really let loose and be free in their imagination and immersion.
Do you prefer purely fictional settings or semi-fictional settings? Explain.
Has this legendary beast landed in our shores or is it only roaming the US?
[SOLVED!] (Nocturna)
I remember watching this movie many times as a child idk why. The 3 main things I remember is
1: The movie started with a boy who was in an orphanage with many other kids. There was a big room/hall filled with bunk beds (maybe even 4 beds tall) and a giant oversized door to a balcony (similar to Skyrim dungeon doors). Started out with a pillow fight in that room with the main character thought to have seen a mythical creature's shadow at lights out. [MAJOR INFO] Like a day later the boy is playing ball with other kids in some hall/hangout area and the ball rolls down a dark flight of stairs that leads to a hallway which was filled with darkness. Typical "monster" thing where kids are scared of the shadow but nothing happens and the ball is just there. They pick it up and think nothing of it.
2: The boy during bed time is lead outside onto the balcony where he finds some mythical creature, cat or idrk I don't remember. Point is that creature takes the boy on a journey, showing the boy other creatures that work in the night. [MAJOR INFO] At one scene the boy lands on a balcony and enters a sleeping child's room where 3 female characters are discussing something about the room and/or child's stuff. The female characters talk to the creature that flew the boy there and the boy realized the entire world/city is filled with characters much like those 3 characters and the creature that flew him there who operate at night and all have different uses.
3: The last part I remember is near the end where the boy reaches his destination of the leader bots/creatures that manage and lead the entire community/work force of robots/creatures. He attempts to speak to the leader (who is very busy) fails a few times but he successfully convinced the bot/creature to talk reasonably.
I don't remember any more, sorry. Thank you anyone for helping.
(Sorry for any bad English. English is my second language and I didn't spend too much time on checking through.)
Are there existing official arts for the corresponding sequences mythical creatures? Or any fan art? When I think about Klein's mythical creature form, I'd always imagine Cthulhu with those tentacles except with squirming maggots forming a vortex. I also want to see other sequences mythical creature forms. Thanks!
Iβm completely new to this. With OnlyFans being huge and all that I thought I might start a little online thing selling pics, vids and cam sessions. A few weeks later I met this guy and we talked for hours- calling, texting sending each other messages throughout the day. He didnβt even buy my content I just genuinely enjoyed his conversation.
He finally pitched the offer to me after weeks of talking- something that sounded straight out of a movie. He said if I wanted to, he would book us a nice hotel in Central London, 2 rooms even for if I didnβt want to sleep there on first meet. He booked us a table at the fanciest restaurant I wouldβve eaten at in my life. He also showed me shoes he bought for me over a video call- some 400 quid heels!! I felt like I was living the dream.
The next day he told me that check-ins at the hotel were at 11 and I could be there and heβll be waiting. I got an Uber and when I got there he was not there. I ended up strolling around in Central London with a suitcase packed full in the cold weather. Never got my fancy dinner I was dreaming of. And to top it off I saw that I had been blocked by what seemed to be my new best friend the SD himself.
I ended up actually losing 110 quid just from Ubers. Never got the dream relationship and only got used for this manβs temporary (and yet unknown) cause.
This might be too ambitious of an idea for this subreddit but hey, It's worth a try.
Now for me, the concept of doppelgangers scare the Hell out of me so I would love to see a good doppelganger movie. Jordan Peele's "Us" was pretty good but it didn't quite hit the spot for me. What about you guys? What would you like to see?
