A list of puns related to "Wireless security"
Hello everyone, very new to firewalls and networking in general, but Iβve been wanting to set up a nice firewall for my home as I plan on getting a NAS and setting up some other fun home networking thingies.
I am looking for some good options for wireless access point(s) to pair with the netgate router as I heard I shouldnβt rely on that to provide wireless to the house. I have a modem and switch so I think I should be able to configure something else to provide wireless.
Does anyone recommend any products? Should I just buy a regular nighthawk or something of the likes and use that?
Iβve been having a hard time finding any recommendations online.
Thanks for any and all help.
Also any articles or resources on helping me better understand the technology and nuances of what I will be doing is also greatly appreciated!
Have a Merkury outdoor smart WiFi wireless 1080p camera. I have tried multiple locations to best record approaches to the house. Have tested it many times. Have it as close to the router as I can get it and still cover the part of yard and porch I want to cover. I live in the country so my internet is satellite internet but itβs the best there is offered out here. Typically download speeds of around 15-30 mbps and upload of 7-12. Sometimes it will only lag for 5-7 seconds, and thatβs the best case scenarioβ¦ usually 15 seconds before it even starts recording. Sometimes it doesnβt even pick up the motion at allβ¦ Iβm talking it will see my wifeβs car leave but not even register mine. Itβs basically useless to me at this pointβ¦ are there any solutions? No I canβt do anything more with my internet if thatβs the problem, as I said itβs the best satellite internet you can get out here. Why does it lag so much? Do they all lag? Is there a wireless camera with my internet set up that will actually work? Anything will help, Thanks

Hi!
We have a completely dumb house with no home automation or IoT items, so no allegiance to any ecosystem.
We're looking at a home security system -- it could be a doorbell, but ideally two cameras that covers our front and back entrances. It doesn't need to be fancy; just an app that we can monitor motion. We don't need 4k, constant recording, 2 way talk, spotlights, etc. I don't love the idea of a monthly subscription, but I'm OK with it for the right option.
We live in an OLD farmhouse (circa. 1880) with no external outlets and I'm not an electrician, so the item HAS to be wireless with swappable batteries. We do have strong Wi-Fi.
I'm relatively aware of modern technology, but diving into the right option has been totally overwhelming. Ring, Nest, Eufy, others -- all seem to have significant tradeoffs, and when reading reviews I'm getting the consensus that they all suck.
Right now I'm leaning on Eufy, as we have their baby monitor and find it quite impressive. What would you recommend to someone starting totally fresh with my restrictions?
Thinking of having security camera installed in a new build house. Fitter can around said the wireless cameras such as Ring aren't great and highly recommended a wired system which is apparently easier to install. Any thoughts or preferences?
