A list of puns related to "Uterine prolapse"
This week I've moved to the gynecology polyclinic where we basically evaluate patients and treat them/set them up for surgery if needed.
Most of our cases are the usual gynecological issues, some bacterial vaginosis here, some trichomonas there, the usual drill. Sometimes we have other issues that need additional surgery - like this one.
A 72 year old woman comes in and says some "flesh" is sticking out of her vagina. Alright, we get her on the examination chair, and lo and behold, there's a uterine prolapse going on. History says 4 natural births. Her pelvic floor muscles have failed her.
The doctor in charge that day was male, and she clearly is feeling a little awkward, so I engage her in conversation while he does his thing and prods at the uterus.
She tells me I'm a cute little thing and I might have really pretty daughters some day. I smile and tell her parenting doesn't coexist well with medicine, so maybe not. She frowns and tells me children are the best thing that has happened to her, and that her son was outside and was taking care of her in her old age. What would I do when I got old and had no one to take care of me?
Then the doctor comes in, and nicely tells her that children aren't insurance packages for the elderly, and that they are in fact hard to raise when you're a doctor. He relates how he cannot seen his children properly as he has to take night shifts all the time and can't go on leave as he wishes. Poor old lady expressed how sorry she was, but that "female" doctors could do more to support their families, or even leave their jobs to become a homemaker. It wasn't a "man's" responsibility to take care of the children anyways.
I could see the doctor frown, but he kept whatever retort he had to himself. As for me, I was livid and completely stayed out of the conversation after that even though she tried to make chit chat with me again.
I don't view children as my gateway to a secure life when I get old. Children must be raised carefully and lovingly in stable households. I love kids, I'd like to be a pediatrician when I graduate perhaps, but my career comes first, and I'm not about to abandon that just so I can have some kids. I wouldn't want a family life where my child would resent me for not being there either, it's not fair to us both.
And then there's this whole bullshit ass thing about men not having to take care of children. Then why does it take one to make kids? Earning money and providing the family is not all
... keep reading on reddit β‘Uterine prolapse is a common condition that can happen as a woman ages. The pelvic muscles and ligaments hold the uterus in place. Prolapse occurs if they become weak they can't support the uterus. It occurs when the muscles and tissue in your pelvis weaken. The weakness lets the uterus drop down into your vagina. Muscles, ligaments, and other structures hold the uterus in the pelvis.

Uterine prolapse occurs when the womb (uterus) drops down and presses into the vaginal area. It is one form of pelvic organ prolapse.

What are the symptoms of uterine prolapse?
Uterine prolapse may be treated by removing the uterus in a surgical procedure called a hysterectomy.

Basically the title. I feel like it'd be very soothing to put a heat pad between my legs and over my lower belly, but is it possible for that to relax my muscles too much and make the prolapse worse?
Iβm 3 weeks pp and when looking to check my stitches, I could see my cervix. Is this normal? Is it uterine prolapse or too early to really tell/worry about it?
I am 14 weeks pregnant (28yo), and was told by my OB that I have βclose to stage 3β uterine prolapse. She said that this was normal and there was nothing that I can do except get fitted for a pessary and then have surgery after the baby comes to fix it. She was not helpful at all and made me feel like I was an idiot for even pointing it out. Sooo is this normal? (Iβve never heard of this during pregnancy, only post partumβ¦) Is there anything I can do to at least relieve the symptoms? And what should I expect for the remainder of my pregnancy and delivery?
I have lived with IBS-C my whole life. F24, Recent diagnosis of SIBO thanks to the poo sitting in me for long periods of time and building up bad bacteria. Okay! I can handle that. And I did. A course of antibiotics, an entire summer of diving even deeper into how my gut works and how to build up the gut lining, poo consistency ALL over the chart, but alas, I feel great with that bad bacteria out of me. Still constipated, but Iβm used to that much. Today, I was changing my period cup and I felt something inside me. Long story short, I think itβs my UTERUS coming out of my lady part. I am horrified. Finding out itβs likely a Uterine Prolapse due to chronic constipation, or potentially such swollen small intestines putting pressure on my uterus. Iβm twenty four!!!! Not fair!!! I feel so sorry for my poor body. No idea how to fix it, Iβll call the doc on my next day off. I have no pain, no weird feelings other than βitβ wonβt let me evacuate (the irony). Should I be doing anything? Has this happened to anyone? Iβm so freaked.
And it sucks that this is an almost daily reminder of the loss
I had one child after the loss of a twin pregnancy in trimester 2 but my muscles never recovered from how severe that miscarriage was.
Even the pregnancy with my little one was tough as a result of that.
My son is a little over a year and almost monthly I have to deal with the prolapse. It is painful, thought it is not severe it is a discomfort physically, mentally and emotionally.
I canβt do certain things physically like I used to.
It is frustrating and I hate it and sometimes hate my body.
Anyway, thank you for reading my short vent for today.
I had a relatively uneventful pregnancy, was active and lifted weights up until 34 weeks.
I was induced at 40+4 on 4/2 and given Cytotec and Pitocin. My water broke after being on 4 units of Pitocin and I dilated very quickly (something like 3cm to 10 cm in 15mins). I pushed for 1.5hrs and a vacuum and episiotomy was needed to get his head through my vaginal opening. My son was born on 4/3/21 at 1:11pm.
I felt great the first 2 weeks postpartum. Was taking short walks with the baby and struggling through the BF learning curve. All of a sudden a few days ago I realized I had a uterine prolapse and I was blindsided by it. I went to the doctor who diagnosed an incomplete uterine prolapse. They didn't offer much help besides that I'm still healing and they often see this in the early postpartum weeks. I have a second checkup (5 weeks) shortly in which I'm trying to get into Pelvic Floor Therapy.
Can someone talk me off the ledge and tell me that my life will not be ruled by my sloppy uterus and that PFT is helpful? I just want to take my baby boy for a walk and not be reminded that my insides are falling out, let alone return to exercising in the future.
Hello, I'm new to reddit, and I'm coming here because I don't know where else to turn to for advice/support. Have any trans guys had any experience with having a uterine prolapse? Could it be linked to testosterone/vaginal atrophy? Everything I read online about uterine prolapse only talks about it being in women who are going through menopause or have had multiple natural births, neither of which matches my situation; I am 27, have no other major health issues, am asexual and have never had sex/given birth, and never put so much as a tampon up there until a couple of months ago. About a week ago I noticed something strange and uncomfortable *in there* and have done some googling, and I suspect it's a prolapse. I'm going to go to the doctor soon (as soon as my friend can help me with translation), but I just want to know if any other guys have experiences like this or if I'm alone in it. At the moment I feel very alone because I can't find anything online. Thank you for your time.
Hey, I really hope someone can help me out with this. When I was 17 I had some thing come out of my vagina after sex. It happened three times and always went back after two days. Iβm 20 years old now and only now googled my symptoms and found out about uterine prolapse. Its been three years since Iβve had sex the last time and I didnβt have a prolapse since. Is this something that can happen again? Should I see a doctor even though it happened years ago and everything seems alright? I hope somebody can help
What are the risks of getting a uterine prolapse because of a menstrual cup?
I had my period a few days ago, and the last day I had a problem getting the cup out. I couldn't break the suction, so I had to remove it slowly by pulling it out, and heard a pop, indicating that the suction was broken. After that I have had some discomfort in my vaginal area. I tried to feel for my cervix, and I feel like it's a bit lower than usual, but I don't know if it's something I'm feeling/thinking because of my worry.
PS. I'm 22 years old, and I don't have children.
Starting to worry about the future. My complaints have evolved from annoying severe constipation to barely being able to have bowel movements and pass gas. Need to have my uterus removed sooner rather than later. The pain to my hips and surrounding areas is making daily life miserable. Saw family doctor, I donβt think they understand and laxatives arenβt helping anymore. If I clean myself out with miralax will I be able to have bowel movements again? Or am I going to have to have loose stools only until surgery can be done?
How old were you when it happened? What did it feel like, or what led you to first suspect that you had the condition? What successful treatments for it did you undergo?
So it all happened about a month ago. I was super constipated and pushed with all of my might. After that I noticed my IUD strings just chilling outside of my vagina slightly. Worried that I had just shat out my IUD, I called my doc. I had an appt and she said strings were right where she left them. Confused and unsure, I went to another gyno who said the same. I posted on an IUD facebook group and someone said they experienced the same sensation but it was actually because her uturus had prolapsed, hence the strings being closer to the vaginal opening. It clicked...shit ..this is what I'm experiencing!!! Weird sensation like I have a tampon half out of me or something. More recently I've also been spotting and have had bad cramps which I haven't experienced in over a year thanks to my IUD. So after 2 gyno visits, ultrasound, and primary care visit, I have yet to get a diagnosis of what's happening. I'm almost positive I have a partial prolapse. How did this happen though?? I'm only 28, have never been pregnant, and am strong!!! My pelvic floor is NOT weak! In short, I'm devestated. I'm extremely active and want to continue doing aerial silks, and have even hoped to go semi pro one day. I'm uncomfortable and no doctor seems to get how big of a deal this is.
I have an appt with a urogynocologist but it's not for 2 weeks. Please...any support, help, stories of your own would be extremely appreciated. I'm so lost and feel so alone.
It took two years for me to finally get enough time off to go visit the doctor about this uterine prolapse that's been making my life so miserable. Having to explain to my gossipy bosses was mortifying. Then the doctor wouldn't even write me a doctor's note, even for the time I missed at work to visit him that day.
Edit: (sorry, venting) one would think that an internal organ becoming external might warrant a freakin' doctor's note. I felt so gas-lit.
Has anyone been misdiagnosed with IC (when instead the uterus has been pressing on the bladder)?
Curious if anyone else's doc has suggested this to them.
So around a year or so back, I began spotting between periods. Right around ovulation so I figured it was ovulation bleeding. Fast forward about 6 months and the spotting stopped and then a few months after that I began experiencing loss of sensation during sex. Whenever I masturbated, I felt a new but small lump in the left side which was where I had lost sensation. A couple of months after this, I got three back to back UTIβs in three months. The first one showed up as positive on the test but the last two didnβt show up (my doctor gave me antibiotics anyway) but after each round of antibiotics the burning persisted. Itβs like it never really went away. Then I went to a urologist and she did a pelvic exam and mentioned that my uterus was lower than normal and was surprised that none of my previous doctors had mentioned this. It happened to be on my left side right where I had noticed the new lump and lost sensation. The urologist just gave me a spasmodic to take to relieve the burning though and didnβt say anything regarding my uterus. Itβs worth noting that Iβve suffered from constipation all my life and I also carried a super heavy backpack all throughout school and college which I read contribute to uterine prolapse. Could this be what Iβm experiencing? Thank you all in advance for your help.
About six months ago, I (24f) noticed that I had lost sensation while having sex. It wasn't pain, I just couldn't feel anything but it was only on one side and I also felt a small lump on that side that wasn't there before. I also ended up getting a UTI every month for three months. I had only tested positive for the first UTI but negative for the last two. My doctor gave me antibiotics for every single one but the symptoms would keep coming back. I ended up going to a urologist and she mentioned that my uterus was unusually low (it turned out to be on the side where I had lost sensation and felt the lump). She also asked me if I had children because sometimes that's the reason why the uterus lowers. She said she doubted that had anything to do with my symptoms and that my uterus was probably always that low but I have a strong feeling that it wasn't. I looked up the symptoms of uterine prolapse when I got home later and it included loss of sensation during sex and recurrent bladder infections, pain passing urine, and bleeding outside of menstrual cycle (a couple of months before I lost sensation, I noticed that I would spot between periods. That has since stopped but it made me wonder if it was connected to this). My question is, how can I get my doctor to seriously consider uterine prolapse as the root of the issues I'm having? Also, is there any way this could be reversed? Or will sex just never be the same for me anymore? Thank you in advance for your answers and for taking the time to read this.
Hi!
Im 20 years old and have a BMI of 30.0
I can see white, doughnut-shaped tissue sitting just inside my vagina. It doesnβt hurt, I do not feel anything out of the usual - but I am scared shitless.
Does this require immediate attention? Can I try to fix it on my own with Kegel exercises and weight loss?
If anyone needs, I can DM a photo of what I believe is the prolapse.
Please help if you can!
I have a 2nd degree prolapse, tonight ive had some cramping and pain everywhere from my uterus to my cervix, at times when i sit down. Now my dr never told me when it would be an emergency or what to look for. I can tell you my cervix is appr 2inches from the opening of my vagina and i dont have to make any extra effort to feel it. So really my question would be what do i need to look for to know if i need to call a doctor besides the obvious falling out?
Thank you in advance!
TL;DR: I'm 20 and can feel my cervix about an inch inside of my vaginal opening. I wear a copper IUD and have never been pregnant. What's going on? What should I do?
I'm making this post because I have a doctor's appointment in about two weeks but I'm really scared for my reproductive health. I'm wondering if I am overreacting or if there is anything that I can start right away to help my uterus.
For context, I'm 20 years old, going on 21 next month. I'm 5'4" and about 130 lbs. While I am sexually active, I've never been pregnant. I also had the Paraguard copper IUD inserted about two and a half years ago. When I was in high school, I was pretty severely bulimic and had some issues with my menstrual cycle. Most notably, I didn't get my period for about six months at one point, and then got a continuous, black period for about a month and a half straight. I'm fully recovered now, exercise regularly (no heavy lifting), have never been overweight, and eat relatively healthy.
I've been having trouble urinating for probably two years now. At first I thought that it was a UTI, but nothing was painful or had an odor. I would go to the bathroom and it felt like something was obstructing my flow of urine from the inside. If I push, the pee stops. I have to tilt my pelvis back and totally relax, just allowing it to drip out. Usually it's not too bad or noticeable, but it's way worse on my period. About a year ago, I woke up in the night to pee and although I really had to go, my body just wouldn't let me. It scared the crap out of me and I went to the doctor. I ended up seeing some assistant of an assistant and while he was really nice, he basically told me that I "didn't have cancer, so that's good", that I should wait to see if it gets better, and then burned a skin tag off my arm.
I've also been having crazy low back pain that's gotten worse during lockdown. I figured that it was because of our extremely old bed and we just ordered a new mattress. I'm not sure if that's related.
I don't know how long I've been using a menstrual cup - probably over two years at this point.. close to three. I think that my old cup started to get stretched or something because in the past few months it started to leak really bad. To compensate, I would try to shove it further into my vaginal canal. Often, this would result in AWFUL pain (like worse than getting my IUD put in). I think what was happening is that it would attach itself around my cerv
... keep reading on reddit β‘Curious others experience with a uterine prolapse. Iβm 32, 2 children, needed to have an episiotomy with my second child. Also obese but have been working for on losing weight. Began PT to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles on Thursday. PT said it can be reversed. Has anyone had good experience with PT?
Also, pessaries: are they uncomfortable to wear? Do you need to take them out before/after intercourse? How difficult are they to put in/take out?
Hello! Iβm scheduled to have a hysterectomy on August 5th. I have a mild uterine prolapse and my gynecologist suggested a hysterectomy due to that in conjunction with very heavy periods and severe pain. Iβm meeting with him and the urologist on 17 July to go over details and answer any questions, but I thought I would ask here as well. Theyβre removing my uterus and cervix and putting in a sling. How exactly did it effect you as far as sex, and bladder leakage (if you have that)? Do you experience βphantom symptomsβ? Has anyone engaged in pelvic floor therapy? I feel like I need to do that now to assist with healing and recovery. If you had it laparoscopically, how soon did you go back to work? I know I asked a lot of questions, but this really got sprung on me after nearly hemorrhaging last month. We discussed the procedure in the beginning-of the year but I was reluctant up until now. Thank You! ππΌππΌ
My life is going to drastically change when I wake up tomorrow morning. Iβm hopeful that this will be the cure Iβve been working towards. Iβm so anxious but I know itβll be worth it.
So, Iβm sitting here crying.
I have pressure inside my vagina and feel like Iβm holding something back. Like thereβs a ball inside that Iβm trying to hold in. Sounds like uterine prolapse, right? So, I call the doctors office. I describe it to the nurse. She says thatβs weird, sheβs never heard of that before. So I start bawling on the phone! Now Iβm embarrassed! Maybe I described it wrong? I want my body back!
