The Life Tragedies mod makes terrible events happen WAY too often and I can't turn it town.

EDIT: Excuse the typo in the title. I wrote this out really fast.

I installed this thinking it would make my gameplay more interesting. I have it set to 'very slow' but that doesn't seem to make a difference because my sim's apartment gets robbed literally every day, sometimes multiple times a day. I get serial killers wandering into my house so often too. I've already had to resurrect two of my sims in the span of like 3 in-game days. I wanted this stuff to happen sparingly but it happens so often that it's getting boring, my sims constantly have the terrified moodlet. Also, all of my sims are saying that they witnessed a murder right now, but I literally have no idea who died or who the murderer is and it's annoying as shit.

[EVENT] Have you ever heard the tragedy of Tecumseh?

Sherman scoffs as he reads reports of the United Cherokee, turning to his aid (recently transferred from Sheridan) he asks

β€œRoberts! You know what the Cherokee mean to do?”

Roberts quickly nodded, and Sherman continued

β€œAnd you know who I am named for?”

Roberts again nodded, β€œyessir, chief Tecumseh right?”

Sherman nodded as he smoked his pipe,

β€œTell me Roberts, what did Chief Tecumseh do?”

Roberts shuffled for a moment as he remembered back to his classes in westpoint,

β€œWell sir if I remember he United the tribes and marched them to the aid of the brits in 1812?”

Sherman nodded before asking further

β€œAnd what happened to Chief Tecumseh and his great federation?”

Roberts saw now what the General was getting at as he responded,

β€œWell sir his army was split, his people routed, and if I remember correctly he was shot, no?”

Sherman simply nodded as he looked out, fire was in his eyes as he watched the men gather to march,

β€œExactly Roberts, he was shot”

Olympic’s collision with HMS Hawke while under command of Captain Smith resulted in Titanic’s maiden voyage being delayed from March 20th to April 10. Interesting how this event set up the tragedy that would occur.

On 20 September 1911, Olympic's first major mishap occurred during a collision with a British warship, HMS Hawke, in which the warship lost her prow. Although the collision left two of Olympic's compartments filled and one of her propeller shafts twisted, she was able to limp back to Southampton. At the resultant inquiry, the Royal Navy blamed Olympic,[10][11] finding that her massive size generated a suction that pulled Hawke into her side.[12] Captain Smith had been on the bridge during the events.

The Hawke incident was a financial disaster for White Star, and the out-of-service time for the big liner made matters worse. Olympic returned to Belfast and, to speed up the repairs, Harland and Wolff was forced to delay Titanic's completion in order to use one of her propeller shafts and other parts for Olympic. Back at sea in February 1912, Olympic lost a propeller blade and once again returned for emergency repairs. To get her back to service immediately, Harland and Wolff again had to pull resources from Titanic, delaying her maiden voyage from 20 March to 10 April.

Hours after celebrations in Meron evolved into an unfathomable mass casualty event that took 45 lives and left more than 100 injured, Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit has launched an investigation into whether police members were to blame for the tragedy

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 42%. (I'm a bot)

> JERUSALEM - Hours after celebrations in Meron evolved into an unfathomable mass casualty event that took 45 lives and left more than 100 injured, Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit has launched an investigation into whether police members were to blame for the tragedy.

> 5,000 police officers were reportedly sent to Meron to control the crowd which numbered well over 200,000.

> Officials had anticipated an extremely large turnout after last year's Lag B'Omer festivities were banned because of COVID. But an unnamed police official shifted the blame, saying that Lavi had expressed safety concerns for children in regard to certain barriers that were being used and refused to allow completely unlimited access to Meron during a meeting with those the celebration's organizers.

> The police source also said that government officials approved the corridor where overcrowding turned into a deadly stampede and made the decision to allow an extremely large number of participants to flock to Meron.

> The Police Department for Internal Affairs requested that an investigation be carried out by a third party, with police officers instructed not to interview any of their personnel about the incident.

> Journalist Arye Erlich advocated for the single exit route from the holy site to prevent future tragedy, penning a 2018 Charedim10 article bearing the headline "Who will prevent the disaster during the lighting ceremony." According to The Jerusalem Post, a 2016 police report found that Meron's infrastructure and size could not possibly accommodate the crowds that flock there each year.

In the event of a tragedy like Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in 2011, what would the NHL do?

Obviously, god forbid anything like this ever happens to another sports team... or hell a plane full of people for that matter. It was a tragic event that essentially destroyed so many lives and a franchise.

So for example, lets say an NHL team is involved in one of these horrific events, does the NHL have a public plan in place?

I'm assuming the affected team would remain out of the rest of the season schedule, but do you think it would be similar to the KHL's response where they held a contingency draft?

CB in a end of the mass tragedy event

In a mass tragedy, could CB channels be overwhelmed? It’s portrayed in apocalyptic movies that when the climax of the outbreak or something happens phone lines go down (I’m not sure if it’s from just infrastructure collapsing from chaos or in overwhelm of calls) but I was curious if CB radios would be able to hold up in that event, I imagine they’ll be a lot of people reaching out but of course there must be a way through the chaos in those situations.

An NFL [American Football] player get a terrible injury is not a tragedy, it is a 100% predictable event given the brutal nature of the game, and the fact that it happens literally every single year routinely.

For those who don't know Dallas Cowboys superstar Dak Prescott suffered a gruesome ankle injury yesterday. You can google it, I won't link it, I saw it once and won't watch it again.

Now the sports subs are filled with the weeping and the wailing and the declaring how tragic this is and how unfair it is to Dak and what great a guy he is, and how could something this terrible, this tragic, this unforeseen, possibly happen to such a nice guy? Etc Etc Etc

Well football fans here is some cold hard reality. This injury is 100% predictable. An injury like this happens EVERY FUCKING YEAR like clockwork. Why? Because American football is a horrifically violent sport that sends 250 lb monster athletes crashing into each other at full speed. The risk of of horrible injury is literally baked into the nature of the game. Its a risk YOU CHOOSE TO TAKE because you want fame, glory and money.

So when that risk you fully agreed to sometimes comes up snake eyes, well thats life. Imagine if you entered a poker tournament and lost all your money then said "OMG! this is a tragedy who could have seen this coming! Everyone feels super sorry for me!"

Nobody is feeling sorry for you because you took a risk full well knowing you would win or lose, and in this situation you lost.

In recent times here are a few NFL gruesome injuries

Teddy Bridgewater - suffered a leg injury so severe they were contemplating amputation. He JUST BARELY kept the leg. It took 3YEARS before he healed up enough to play again.

Ryan Shazier - neck injury that left him paralyzed. He recovered partially and can now walk but will suffer complications for the rest of his life.

Alex Smith - broken femur that got a nasty infection. Again, amputation was considered. He JUST BARELY saved his leg and suffered a grueling, long recovery period. His leg looks like a 3 day old fast food hamburger.

Dak Prescott - foot was literally on backwards, not optimal.

And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head, no googling.

This is the NFL. You take a huge risk of suffering a life altering injury every time you step on the field. You take that risk for money and fame. Sometimes it works out in your favor, sometimes it doesn't. Thats the nature of risk.

So when the dice are rolled and you lose don't tell me its a tragedy, its not. Its a 100% predictable outcome.
