A list of puns related to "Timothy Treadwell"
Who else would love to hear a series about Timothy Treadwell (RIP 10/5/2003)? Beyond what was covered in Grizzly Man, there are some great books about his life and death. I think LPOTL would do a fantastic job covering my this topic!!!
Also, can you listen to ANY part of the audio anywhere? I havenβt watched the documentary, should I?
I can only imagine how terrifying it mustβve been. He probably couldnβt see anything in the dark and could only hear the bear grunting and breathing as it prepared to eat him alive.
Not because I desperately want to listen to the last audio of a man and his girlfriend being killed by a bear, but because I think it is important for any reckless explorers who think messing with bears at a time where they are most aggressive is a good idea. It should stand as a deterrent to people who think "Well he wasn't prepared I will be" no, you won't, and if should be made well aware to these people why they won't.
This is a continuation of an archived thread that I wanted to get some more opinions on. I have a theory about the supposed audio recording of Timothy Treadwell's death. I'd like to share my opinion of its authenticity, which brings up a point that I don't believe was considered or discussed in the original thread. Find the original thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/5lresx/audio_recording_of_the_death_of_timothy_treadwell/.
I'm about 60% sure this is real. Listening to the recording for the first time, I had my doubts due to the echo of the voices. This seemed to be the most compelling reason to dismiss this recording in the original thread until I realized something. I've dealt with a lot of old bootlegged music recordings, and often tapers will record recordings of recordings (ie someone will sit in a room, usually a production studio, and record what's being played on their phone). This creates the illusion that the original recording was recorded in an enclosed area when it was actually a recording of that recording in an enclosed area.
This familiar sound was evident on the Treadwell tape. My theory is that, if it is real, it is a secondary recording made by someone who witnessed it being played or had temporary access to the tape. Given that the tape was involved in the production of a documentary, I don't believe the argument that only three people (Jewel, Werner, and the coroner) had access to it holds water. I believe this tape has passed through many hands, and it isn't inconceivable that a leak might've happened.
Furthermore, if the video were reenacted, the echo in the video begs a question: why would the people who faked it go through all the effort of sound effects and (unbelievably good) acting just to make that rookie mistake? It would be very easy to record it outside, after all.
As for the argument that this is fake because the original tape was 6-minutes: This is also easily refuted because chances are that the person recording a recording only captured a snippet of the complete tape. There could have been many reasons for this happening.
As for the argument that the recording doesn't correspond perfectly to the transcript: I would like to see a minute-by-minute transcript of the real recording because I haven't yet, even though people have talked about such a thing existing. If t

R2: same as round 1 but Joe gets all of his tigers and Timothy gets all of the bears he named and lived around.
R3: both appear as guests on the Joe Rogan Experience, how does this go down?
Seems like he got footage up there with Planet Earth, just not as good quality...Curious if there was any real science behind it or when/if scientists watched it, they learned anything new. I would imagine there hadn't been nearly this much video documentation of wild grizzly bears in alaska until this point. (def could be wrong about that)...but wondering if real scientists ever watched it and learned something new about grizzlies or nature
Hi,
in his video "The Lost Media Iceberg" blameitonjorge claims, that the audio of the mauling/killing of Timothy Treadwell is lost.
I listened to the audio in Werner Herzogs documentary. He is right, we don't hear, what Herzog listened to, but the audio was played at the end. I vividly remember watching the documentary with my wife and hearing timothy yell "don't shoot/kill/harm the bear" (i'm not sure about the wording anymore). I am from germany, so maybe the german release has it. I watched it online and I would think it was subbed, but idk.
Maybe this post helps.
The Timothy Treadwell bear attack audio is an infamous piece of lost media. However, what isn't as well known, was the TV show that showed his photography and footage of his summer expeditions from 1998-2003. After the success of the documentary Grizzly Man, this TV show was made as a spin off and premiered on August 29th, 2008 on the Animal Planet channel.
Eight episodes of this show were made, with the final one airing on September 29th, 2008. No footage of this show exists online, and it has never been released to streaming service or DVD. As of now, this show is completely lost.
I don't understand this very obvious and fundamental question. It's not addressed even once in the documentary, and I've tried searching for answers on it through Google... it doesn't seem like anyone's even asking this question! The only results that even come up are people obsessed with his death audio.
This man had accumulated 13 YEARS of footage! This is truly astounding. Hour upon hour, day after day, for 2-3 months, for 13 years... it's insane to think of the sheer volume of material he created.
Plus, this guy clearly fancied himself as a filmmaker, not just a supreme bear advocate/protector.
So this begs the primary question: why didn't he ever release any of the footage, ever? Why would a person expose themselves to such extreme danger, year after year, painstakingly recording these bears for over a DECADE.... and not ever show the material?
Yes, I know he did public speaking and educational speaking. However, everything I've read says he simply gave talks / stories / photo slideshows. People on Reddit have even described their own classroom experiences with him.
It couldn't possibly be an issue with distribution. There would have been SO many ways for him to get his material out: public access, direct-to-video, selling it to a network, literally anything! In a world where far dumber people with absolutely dreadful material have had ZERO problems broadcasting their material (hell, does anyone remember Tom Green having his own show in Canada?)... this certainly is not an explanation.
So, what's the real explanation? My only guess... is that it's somehow tangled up into the whole mental health battle he dealt with his whole life. This guy clearly had a ton of problems, and eventually developed a huge persecution/martyr complex.
I almost feel like... maybe the videos he recorded we never actually intended to be seen by others. Maybe it was just some sort of weird personal diary/universe that he was the complete and total controller over, where no one could scrutinize/criticize/react or even comment on the narrative he was telling.
In a weird way, Tim tried to make himself a public figure, but the videos were perhaps always meant to be private, intended only for himself... maybe he'd even have objected to the documentary using his footage.
Anyway, I'm speculating. But I'm very annoyed that there's been no discussion on this. What gives?
And furthermore, why not hasn't his estate released the videos after the fact? Why shouldn't we be able to
... keep reading on reddit β‘Timothy Treadwell (born Timothy William Dexter; April 29, 1957 β October 6, 2003) was an American bear enthusiast, environmentalist, naturalist, documentary filmmaker, and founder of the bear-protection organization Grizzly People. He lived with the grizzly bears of Katmai National Park in Alaska for 13 summers. At the end of his 13th summer in the park, in 2003, he and his girlfriend Amie Huguenard were killed by a 28-year-old brown bear, whose stomach was later found to contain human remains and clothing. (Wikipedia)
His death isn't the mystery, the mystery is the release of the audio recording released in November of 2012. https://youtu.be/g9lCkFygaaQ (link to the video)
After his death, his tapes and camera were given to his ex-girlfriend, and life long friend Jewel Palovak. In the documentary about Treadwell, "Grizzly Man", by Werner Herzog, Werner is shown listening to the tape and urges Jewel to destroy the tape and never listen to it. Jewel then replies "I know, I will never listen to this tape." Two years ago, /u/jewelpalovak Did an AMA talking about the death of Timothy and the documentaries made about him after his untimely death. https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/25gw7r/hello_reddit_i_am_jewel_palovak_confidante_and/ (Link to AMA) During the AMA, she said this regarding the release of the tape: "contractually it was off of the table." https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/25gw7r/hello_reddit_i_am_jewel_palovak_confidante_and/chhc1y1/ (Link to comment)
People claim that this tape is false because the bear sounds sound slightly fake and a slight echo can be heard when Timothy screams. Naturally, there wouldn't be a echo if they were outside in a brushy area, where their camp was. However, the camera was placed inside the tent, which most likely had some insulation which could have created some echo. And for the bear sounds: the bear had a mouth full of Timothy, so it would make sense that the bear would sound a little off.
So, what do you think? Did Jewel release the tape against her contractual obligation, or is it a fake?
Bio: Hi Reddit, I am Jewel Palovak. I was a longtime friend of Timothy Treadwell, who you know from the film Grizzly Man, and the TV show Grizzly Man Diaries. Timothy spent 13 summers living with wild grizzly bears and foxes in Alaska before being killed in 2003 by one of the bears, along with his girlfriend Amie Huguenard.
In addition to being executive producer on Grizzly Man and Grizzly Man Diaries, I recently launched a site featuring Timothy's incredible photography, which often included amazingly close shots of his subjects - bears, foxes, baby seals, and more. A portion of all sales will go to Grizzly People, the non-profit that Timothy founded. You can visit the site at http://timothytreadwellphotography.com
I will be releasing some never-before-seen photos and videos over the coming months, so be sure to Like and Follow us for these incredible documents of life in the Alaskan wilderness.

He said he would die for the bears, and so he did. My question is: would you defend yourself against another animal if it meant you had to kill the attacking animal in order to save your own life?
