A list of puns related to "The Brady Bunch Movie"
I didn't know anything about the movie going in. I figured it was just a sequel to the series and nothing more (my gf picked it out because she had seen it before and wanted to see my reaction).
What is this movie?!
And I wish that other podcast answered this question more often, but...How did this get made??
I loved every minute of it; it was hilarious. I had never seen the series but got the idea of it (because every American knows the Brady Bunch). But it's almost a parody? Kind of? It's like making fun of The Brady Bunch and putting them in the 90s where they stick out. But why was this made?? What was the writing process/pitch process like? Who is this movie for? Fans of the original series probably hated it. Anyone who didn't watch the series are probably like, what is this thing? The whole thing feels like one of those gags from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back as they travel from Hollywood set to set with weird movies getting made. But it's actually REAL. An actual 90 minute movie!
I loved it.
I wish #TheTwoFriends would cover it as a one-shot or Ben's choice because I love their deep dives and research. I want to know everything about it!
I preferred the Addams family movies though
These movies have it all:
- A+++ Casting: Every single Brady is excellently cast. The way everyone plays their characters have burned these versions of The Brady Bunch into my mind as the DEFINITIVE Brady Bunch. Jennifer Elise Cox and Christine Taylor KILL it in their respective roles as Jan and Marcia Brady, especially in "A Very Brady Sequel." We've all seen the "Sure, Jan" meme. That same energy is present throughout the ENTIRE movie. You will laugh and cry every time Marcia shoots Jan a look of suspicion, because Jan couldn't possibly have a new boyfriend. She refuses to believe it. Gary Cole and Shelley Long are also perfect as Mike and Carol Brady. Their chemistry is undeniable as the Brady parents who love their kids, but also love to get it on. Christopher Daniel Barnes as Greg Brady is not only super easy on the eyes, he has a hilarious subplot with Marcia in "A Very Brady Sequel." Hell, everyone has a hilarious subplot with Marcia in "A Very Brady Sequel."
- One of those rare instances where the sequel is arguably BETTER than the already-great first movie. "A Very Brady Sequel" truly perfected the Brady parody formula (imho*)* It parodies several episodes of the original series, features plenty of great references to other classic sitcoms, and has some of the most hilarious subplots in any parody movie. You will 100% be a Christine Taylor stan after watching this movie.
- RuPaul as Ms. Cummings, the school guidance counselor who imparts valuable life advice to Jan, such as "Girl...you betta werk!" See, this post is relevant to this subreddit!
- There was a third made-for-TV movie called "The Brady Bunch in the White House." We don't talk about "The Brady Bunch in the White House." The only cast members from the first two movies to return for this threequel were Shelley Long and Gary Cole, and not even they could save this trainwreck. Mawma, it is garbage.
ok youve heard enough why are you still reading this post GO WATCH THE BRADY BUNCH MOVIES (the first two) RIGHT NOW!!
(The first movie leaves Amazon Prime on the 29th so you betta hurry!)
I just finished watching that episode on Hulu today and all I got to say was that Everyone was so awful to Greg! Are there any other episodes that I should expect for when any of the bradies act out of character or think that the world revolves around them?
Any TV shows, movies, etc. It can be funny, or serious, whatever. (Not "Too Many Cooks" though. That was too creepy for me!)
