A list of puns related to "Davy Jones"
In both Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, the Flying Dutchman is shown to use chaser cannons in the bow (in the films, they're referred to as "bow cannons" or "triple guns"). What I find particularly interesting about them is that they're essentially three barrels which rotate and fire sequentially. Was such a design ever invented or used by any navy in the age of sail?
As an overarching question, how did ships in the Age of Sail attempt to engage an enemy sailing away from them? How successful were such pursuits, and what weapons assisted with this task?
For reference, here's a scene where said cannons are shown for a few seconds from the 1:46 mark.
Just recently rewatched Dead Men's Chest and the CGI that turned Bill Nighy into the evil squid pirate Davy Jones is incredible. The way each of the tentacles move a little independently from one another is truly impressive.
People like to claim that Practical effects beat CGI at every turn and that the latter never ages well but I think this is solid evidence that the opposite sometimes is true.
This question popped into my mind while watching POTC 3 today when Jones goes on his rant to Calypso. He says that for 10 years he guided souls who died at sea to afterlife. What did that look like?
Was it pleasant? Was Jones different than what he was at that point? Was it as cruel as in POTC 2 (slitting the throat of those who didn't want to serve)?
I'm not sure if there's a canon answer but i thought I'd ask.
That post credit scene got me hyped, but I also felt it was more of Will seeing what he will eventually become as the Dutchmanβs captain. Is it possible that Jones will actually return in the new pirates movie? Heβs definitely my favorite villain from the franchise.
As the title says, i would like someone to give a try at Davy Jones (the ugly squid pirate captain that chase Jack Sparrow in Pirate of the Caribbean)
He looks great, his story is amazing, the performance is fantastic, the CGI on him rivals Thanos, and his theme song OH GOSH HIS THEME SONG, the theme to rival even The Imperial March.
