A list of puns related to "Steering wheel lock"
My Hyundai Tucson was stolen from colfax & federal a month ago and totaled and some customers of mine in the highlands, just went out to the parking lot to discover their Kia was stolen.
DPD told me that thieves have recently figured out that they can punch the door handle of most Hyundais and Kias in a certain way and itβll unlock the door, once theyβre in they can easily destroy a keyed ignition and drive off quietly and quickly.
The shop my car was towed to before we discovered the engine damage also said theyβve been getting a TON of stolen Hyundais and Kias and parts are back ordered because of it.
So be vigilant and get a lock, or if you have the funds to upgrade to a push start ignition, do it. And donβt store anything in your car, the thieves that took mine took everything, even my car user manual.
Anyone in the UK with a Discovery. They've become really popular with car thieves lately. Use to be mostly the Defenders, but with the values rising across the range now the old Discos are being targeted too. Someone tried to steal my 95 300tdi at the weekend. (Didn't get her, but they caused a lot of damage to the ignition barrel, starter motor and engine bay and electrics while trying to get her to start. Bless her...she was having none of it and stood firm!
When I reported to the local police it was like..."Ah, yours too, hey?". Loads reported lately.
In hindsight...I should have had a steering wheel lock and other deterants. When I finally get her running again I'll be upgrading all the security on it.
I see them as a deterrent not a be all and end all solution. I remember "The Club". It seems like that has been around for ever. Any better low tech solutions? I'm not looking for a state of the art alarm system. Just something that someone might see and moves on. TIA.

Car thefts are WAY up in 2021. There is also very little security in the recent-ish Hyundais and Kias models (Tucsons, Elantras, etc) where it's very easy (and very quick) for thieves to steal them. (Yes, other models are being targeted too, but the two makes above seems to be easier than others).
Not only is the "club" a strong visible deterrent, it also add valuable time that thieves would not want to waste in the process. It is also difficult to even steer if someone attempts to drive with the device on as well, by design. An ignition kill-switch will definitely provide much greater security as well.
2021 is an unprecedented time, especially for Denver. It may be time to consider getting more theft-deterrents today. Milwaukee have had huge issues with Hyundai/Kia thefts, and the knowledge of how easy it is to steal these vehicles has spread to Colorado. Grocery store parking lots, RTD lots and the like are possible hotspots.
(GPS trackers, such as a hidden AirTag, or an expensive dashcam with cellular connection etc is a good idea too)
EDIT: crossed out AirTag, suggest an actual GPS tracker. Also, an Ignition Cut-off will be much more secure. A club is not fool-proof, but hopefully it can be a decent deterrent under $60.
I live in the lower unit of an upper/lower duplex in Washington heights area. Our neighbor has a Kia Soul that heβs been parking outside instead of in our garage (a habit Iβm sure was broken last night). Last night, after dark, my bf went to go make a drink in the kitchen and heard some clanging sounds, he turned on the light and two people who had just been in our driveway booked it running down the road. Turns out, they had already smashed the window (weβre still surprised that we didnβt hear it) and already had the steering column taken apart. Looks like they were scared away JUST in time. According to an article from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, MPD is still handing out steering wheel locks until the end of the year.
Hereβs the article: https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/crime/2021/07/19/kia-hyundai-handing-out-free-steering-wheel-locks-through-end-year/7963950002/
Should start off by saying that this is a 2012 Fusion with electric power steering. No dirty fluid to flush and change
Recently got into a nice little fender bender that snapped the inner/outter tie rod ends on the passenger sideβ¦. Also bent the lower control arm pretty good
Needless to say this has all been replaced and being an electric rack, power steering and tcs is disabled (I guess some kind of failsafe mode?)
Having no power steering is one thingβ¦. Ironically not the first β12 fusion without itβ¦.But NOW, the steering wheel binds up to the point where I have to slam on the brakes as to not fly off the road or wreck someone elseβs rideβ¦. And death grip the wheel a certain direction to get it to steer at all.
It feels like itβs binding somewhere in the steering column or linkages INSIDE the car, and just recently itβs been making this βgrindingβ noise when turning the wheel (even when parked). Best way I can describe it is it βfeels and sounds like a lot of frictionβ behind the steering wheel.
Electric power steering rack, extremely dangerous, intermittent binding and locking of the wheelβ¦ essentially disabling this carβ¦
Hard to find anything online because itβs not a hydraulic power steering assembly. Iβm stumpedβ¦
Iβm not at all convinced that the rack is bad. The other Fusion lost power steering as soon as I got a flat tire in the frontβ¦. And the binding didnβt happen at all with that carβ¦ Iβm thinking the two are unrelated
My guess is because we only did the tie rods on the passenger side? Car was aligned, but Iβm sure the driver sides are wornβ¦.
Apologies for the long ass post, I know for a fact itβs not just because the power steering isnβt workingβ¦. The wheel wouldnβt just seize up like that
For typical real life cars its about 13 degrees of rotation per 1 degree of the steering wheel. What about FH5? Are there cars with more rotation?
Hey everyone. I am keen on getting a steering wheel lock due to the amount of thefts that happen in my area!
Upon Google searching I'm struggling to find a steering wheel lock that fits the CHR. Wondering if anyone has one that they use and can share product details. Thanks in advanced
Hey guys, I drive a 2021 Toyota corolla.
I just noticed today when I'm reverse parallel parking that my steering wheel occasionally locks up when i attempt to do a full left/right lock (i can force it through). I'm guessing it might be the lane keep assist messing around or something? Anyone have similar experiences?
All other turning while driving feels fine and light.
Hey guys, happy to say that today I picked up my first Abarth! A 2016 595 Competizione. It's has been all smiles here all day I love this thing. When locking up the car for the night I've noticed that the steering wheel doesn't lock. I tried turning the key all the way but it doesn't look like it's a thing in this particular car. Please can I ask you guys if this is really the case ?
