Akira Nishikiyama can suck my balls

I just finished a game called Yakuza Kiwami, and I want to rant a little bit. If you have played this game then feel free to share your thoughts about Nishiki.

Motherfucker tried to kill Kazama, ordered a hit on Shinji and Reina and fucking killed them too, AND BETRAYS HIS SWORN BROTHER KIRYU???? I mean yeah, Reina kinda got onto Nishiki's side by giving him info on the low because she just wants Nishiki to love her back but she did NOT deserve to die like that. Shinji was a loyal dude too... I was so mad when he died.

I know, I know. Nishiki lost his little sister to cancer or something, got disrespected and straight up violated by his own men, lied, betrayed, whatever the fuck that made him turn into a sadistic, insane, power-hungry yakuza but man... idk... I'm just disappointed and mad he killed a lot of good people. (Especially Reina smh she was bad as hell lmfaoo)

I just finished Yakuza Kiwami and I was unfortunately thoroughly disappointed.

I really didn't want to say this after showering Yakuza 0 with praise but Kiwami left such a sour taste in my mouth. There are some positives I'll mention so it doesn't feel like a dumb rant though.

The story:

Yakuza 0 started and finished beautifully and built all its characters up so well. It made me understand all the characters in here. It built their personality and motivation. Shimano, Kazama, Nishiki, Reina, Majima, Kiryu, Dojima, Sera. I really liked the way they were all built up. I was curious of the lieutenants are gonna even appear in this game or not. I really liked the cast. So I play this game waiting to see what's gonna happen to all of them and... It's just Majima and Kiryu left man.

I understand why people would like this "They're not afraid to kill of characters." Yeah sure but at some point you get bored. I lost interest around Reina's death. The bodies just kept piling up with no breathing room, hell the game throws a joke scene after Shinji's death, the dude I started knowing after a sub story in 0, they went all avengers and joked right after it to lighten up the atmosphere.

And the main villain was awful, with the three lieutenants in 0 I had fun getting to understand them one by one, they all had breathing room to grow, even Shibusawa who's character just threw exposition in the end, I did not care, I still enjoyed them making sense of why he's such a dick. The payoff was incredible. But Jingu you do not meet until the absolute end of the game, and he's just "Evil greedy lustful for power man" with a very embarrassing evil laugh...

And Nishiki, I appreciate them trying to make him less of a dick by putting these flashbacks but he's unreasonable in the game. And his death was the most useless shit I've ever seen. Like if anything his "Redemption" is more of a last laugh. Because his death made things even worse for Kiryu, He gave Kiryu one less reason to live for no reason at all.

I may not have cared or teared that much watching all the deaths. But when Kiryu cries I can't help but get these sad goosebumps, and the only thing that payed off from those deaths was the scene when he was so done and hopeless and says "They're all gone now, I accept being arrested" that hit me like a truck and I have to say it was well done.

Another positive or rather the saving grace for me was Majima and Kiryu's relationship. Sure his change of character was abrupt when they could've done better in 0 but I accepted it quickly and had f

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Finished Kiwami 1. Shot in the dark, they did not plan on Yakuza being a series when they released the original Yakuza 1. (Death spoilers)

Because out of about 20 or so important main characters, I count on one hand the number of main character survivors. Kiryu, Haruka, Majima, Date, and Kashiwagi.

RIP Shinji, Reina, Dojima, Sera, Shimano, Jingu, Yumi, Nishikiyama, Kazama... that's all that comes to mind. A bodycount filled with major characters doesn't strike me as there being series/sequel plans.

Am I right or is it a coincidence? Just wondering, no complaints.

Yakuza Newbie Here! Just finished Kiwami and I need help understanding something.

Okay so I just want to reiterate that I am a newcomer to the series so please, dont spoil any of the other games for me. I really REALLY am loving this series so I want to try to avoid as many spoilers as possible. I also want to say that I played 0 before playing Kiwami so I probably screwed myself over since I became attached to this character.

So basically what I need help understanding is Nishiki and the the other characters feelings/actions towards him.

  1. Did Kazama care about Nishiki at all? Did Kashiwagi? I only ask this because the way they treated Nishiki was very "cold" for a lack of a better word. When it came to Yumi and Nishiki being in a obviously bad situation with Dojima, Kazuma seemed more concerned about Kiryu getting involved than he did with the idea of Nishiki or Yumi getting hurt in some way. And while we didnt really see Kazama and Nishiki interact in the flashbacks, Kazama obviously didnt take into consideration the type of men he was sending Nishikis way because the men he sent had no respect for either Nishiki OR Kazama since they were running game on his turf while no longer being in his family. It felt like Kazama just passed off whatever bad members onto Nishiki knowing they would eat him alive. And I bring up Kashiwagi because of the remark he gave about how Kiryu would have never screwed up like that. Which...I dont believe. The man gets jumped by yakuza all the time despite his Dragon of Dojima title. I think its ridiculous to believe that him being a Patriarch would stop his men from ignoring his orders. And while I expect him to knock Nishiki around a bit (he did the same to Kiryu in 0) he showed absolutely no type of understanding when Nishiki was on the floor a puddle of pathetic tears. Whereas in 0 he was ready to possibly die fighting with Majima for Nishikis location.

It felt like emotional whiplash. And I know its the yakuza. I know they arent going to baby him but idk it was just wild how cold they seemed to him. Especially with everything going on. His "bro" just went to prison, his "sis" went missing, his actual sister is dying...and it seemd like the only thing people cared about was Nishiki building a empire for Kiryu come back and rule over.

  1. Where was the point in which we were supposed to start to dislike/disagree with Nishiki? If it was when he killed Matsushige.. I have to admit, I was rooting for his demise. If it was when he killed Reina and Shinji, I again have to admit I didnt feel mu

These aren't dad jokes...

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.

If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.

Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.

We need to talk about Daigo...

Does he gets better?

I've finished Y2 and I love it, specially how good it new characters like Kaoru or Ryuji are and how it improves the older ones like Majima or Terada

BUT if there's a character I really dislike is Daigo Dojima. He's just a bland Shinji (mirroring the mentor-protegee relationship Shinji and Kiryu had) that's just there. I can't think of anything Daigo did that was relevant to the plot: Ryuji beat the crap out of him, the Jingweon kidnapped him and then he "lead" the Tojo clan during the bomb crisis but cmon that was all Majima's work.

The more I played the more I thought about why Daigo existed? My only answer is that they need a new Shinji or at least a new character that could embodiment what Kiryu (and Kazama) thinks is the Yakuza way (btw, I don't know why Kashiwagi wasn't proposed to be the new chairman)

The only good thing he has is that he gives Kiryu's nickname The Dragon of Dojima a real meaning since Kiryu is his guardian and thus Tojo's

And that's it, as I says earlier does Daigo gets better or throughout the rest of the saga is he a little bitch that needs Kiryu's help and cannot win a battle by himself?
