A list of puns related to "Self in Jungian psychology"
Recently, I started to see better these archetypes within me and how they are involved in my talks, behaviors and activities. And I am not feeling well. It's really hard to manage the unconscious alone, so I am thinking to seek therapy, specially if it really acknowledges and understands the unconscious. Thank you Jungian redditors π
I'm not sure if the title made it clear enough, but I'm basically looking for a synonym of 'shadow self' or otherwise the dark part of someone's personality.
In Heal Hitler, you will be using Jungian psychology combined with some parts of Freudian psychology to psychoanalyze Adolf Hitler and all of his complexes. You will try to heal him and avoid the war.
Hitler was an extreme manifestation of the sentence "tell me what you want me to be and I will be just that". He did that with German people. He embodied the collective unconscious of the time.
The game is historically accurate, I assessed everything I could about Hitler's personality from various sources, including Hitler's personal psychologist Ott; Freudian analysis by Langer; Wotan theory by Carl Jung; Oedipal theory by Fromm; experiences of the Hitler family doctor who was treating Hitler's mother; and many more.

Hello everyone, hope you are doing well!
Next year I'm finishing my elementary psychology studies and would very much like to score a full-time, on campus postgraduate course in Jungian psychology, taught in English. Any information and recommendations would be much appreciated, regarding the studies and potential funding(:
Cheers, may peace and love follow you! π
Your friend/family member asks you βSo, what exactly is Jungiam Psychology? What does it entail? Is it the same as Freudian Psychology? What are the differences?β
How do you respond? I sometimes struggle to know how to answer these questions, and which are the most important parts to convey of such a complex matter.
Since my breakup from my girlfriend half a year ago, there were two things that helped me to get over it and get my life back in order - Jungβs ideas on shadow and anima integration and John Bowlbyβs attachment theory (through Amir Levineβs book βAttachedβ). At that time I didnβt think of this question much but has there been any research on how these two theories interplay? For example, anxious attachment style in men would probably be very a characteristic case of what in Jungian theory they would call anima possession, and I would argue that avoidant attachment in women is animus possession. Secure attachment is on other hand in people with a well integrated shadow and a healthy anima/animus.
Google search didnβt give much material, so letβs maybe just discuss this, what are your opinions on this?
I've developed a game about the individuation process and active imagination - a process many of you are interested in. Here is the official trailer for my game. I incorporated some of my dreams into the game and some of my psychedelic experiences too. I rely heavily on Jungian psychology and teachings of Marie-Louise Von Franz and JP.

I had some thoughts bouncing around my head that I wanted to share about the similarities I've noticed between psychedelic experiences, and Jungian psychology.
As I understand it, Carl Jung described the human psyche as having 3 main components: the ego, the shadow, and the self. The ego is who you think you should be, the shadow is what's holding you back, and the self is what you get when you let go of your ego and fully integrate your shadow.
Now where psychedelics comes in is via experiences of "ego-death." From what I've read, the ego death caused by psychedelics is the same "psychic death" that's proposed by Jung to happen when a person integrates their shadow. And that aligns with the fact that psychedelics have been shown to shut down the default mode network, the part of the brain that physically houses the ego.
So I guess the long and short of it is that I realized a psychedelic trip where one experiences ego death, is analogous to the journey Jung proposes one must take to find their true self. Through psychedelics, you can dissolve your ego, to give yourself a clear picture of your shadow, so that you have the opportunity to integrate it and become the self.
And building upon this idea, I want to say that Jungian psychology can be a good indicator of whether or not somebody will have a bad trip on psychedelics. That is to say, people whose egos and shadows are far from being integrated, or people who are downright ruled by their shadow, are more likely to have a bad trip, than people who are already on their way to integrating their shadow.
Anyways, like I said, these thoughts have just been bouncing around in my head and I wanted to share. I'd love to hear some opinions and comments on this stuff. Maybe have someone "check my work" so to speak. Who knows, maybe this is common knowledge among psychonauts and I'm just late to the party.
I have posted here about the game a few times before, and almost all of you have shown huge interest and support - thank you for that, I don't think I would have finished the game in time without knowing people actually want to play it.
Today I have released the final version of the game on Steam. It's available for Windows and Mac and most PCs will run it without any problems. The Linux build is being worked on, there are some issues that need to be solved. Hopefully next week.

Hi everyone, So I don't know if this is a widely known thing or if Pat has ever spoken about this, but has anyone ever elaborated on the vast amount of influences of Jungian Psychology that there are in these two books? The power of the unconscious (the "sleeping mind" that has to be awoken), the myths and stories containing universal truths, the symbols and archtypes, I mean it's amazing, it's one of the (many many) reasons I found these books so brilliant!
